Turn Your Dreams into Reality with Eva La Cúz and Jennifer Ladd (Ep. 681)

As an 11-year-old, Eva La Cúz dreamed of being a fashion designer and she sat drawing sketches in a notebook in her home in Puerto Rico. Little did she know that in 2017, at age 57, after facing hurdles as a cancer survivor, a single mother of four and acclimating to life in the United States, her fashion line for little girls would make its debut on the runway at the New York Fashion Week, right beside dresses made by more established clothing designers.

Eva La Cúz runs the Minnesota company that bears her name with her daughter, Jennifer Ladd, with the same attention to detail that her grandmother, Paula, and mother Bertha, relied on their hand-stitched clothes. The clothing line featuring special occasion dresses for newborns through eight-year-olds is handcrafted in the U.S. and the designs are named after family members. What started out as the only way to clothe their children, has morphed into a family-owned business that provides specialty and custom dresses for families all over the world.
