When people buy followers (that can also mean fans and subscribers), they may know they are buying fake people. There are guides that tell people not to buy fake followers, and there will be a lot of other guides that will soon be published that talk about not buying fake followers. Despite all of these guides, buying fake followers has turned into a multimillion dollar business. But why?
The answer to me seems to be clear. The people who buy followers want a false sense of power; the ability to look bigger than they really are in front of themselves and everyone else. The account with 10,000 followers gets looked at more than the account with 100 followers. Although the 10,000 followers someone bought are fake, they fall for that false sense of power.
There are a lot of people who want power, but some people go too far just to feel powerful. Having power and feeling powerful are two different things.
