Few people know how much of an impact being healthy and fit has on your success. In fact, your health and fitness are two critical factors that allow you to indicate how much you are taking care of yourself. Being healthy and fit tells you that you are able to keep your own body in shape. If you can keep your health and fitness in check, you can keep yourself in check in other ways as well. Here are four reasons why health and fitness have everything to do with success.
- Good health and fitness encourages you to set goals. In order to maintain good health and fitness, you need to set goals. Setting goals such as eating less sugar, doing more chin-ups, or just running outside every day are set so people can maintain healthy and fit lives. As an individual gets better at implementing goals for health and fitness, it becomes easier to shift that mindset for other goals–like a business plan.
- You don’t like to settle. Once people become fit, they have the natural tendency to get more fit. If an individual is able to run the mile in under five minutes, that person will strive to run the mile faster next time. You are happy with what you have accomplished, but you also know that the journey never ends. Never wanting to settle will encourage you to try new things, experiment with old ones, and take risks.
- You get more confidence. Not everyone is healthy and fit, but if you are, you have done something incredible. You are consistently maintaining your body and nourishing it properly. That’s a big accomplishment which will definitely boost your confidence. In addition, being healthy and fit gives you the “I Can” mentality. This mentality is your super power that allows you to believe in your ability to do anything.
- You will learn that success requires patience. Do you want the rock solid abs? Do you want to have a muscular body? It takes several months of working out the right way for the average person to get to that level. There is no such thing as overnight success, and if you maintain your health and get fit, you will learn that. Then, it will be easier for you to carry that over to your business.
There are many connections that health and fitness have with being successful. Those are just four of the many ways that keeping your body in check can lead to a better life. What are your thoughts on the list? Do you have any additional reasons that health and fitness affect success? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

Good read and reminder. It is amazing when you are able to experience all the benefits of taking your health and fitness seriously. Interestingly, I find the cumulative benefits of maintaining good health and fitness to easily exceed the direct and obvious benefits for why you may maintain your health in the first place.

Thanks Kyle. You make a great comparison between short-term change and long-term change. If someone eats fruits and vegetables for a day and runs on the same day, then that’s great. However if the person goes back to McDonald’s then it doesn’t mean anything. Eating healthy and getting in shape doesn’t mean only doing it for one day. It means consistency and then once healthy and fit, still putting in the work.

Thank you for the great article, Marc! People who stay healthy and fit can achieve their goals better because they have less of a chance of serious illness. You are a wise young man for realizing the importance of health! All the best to you in 2015.

It also helps to give you the stamina to push thru when things are going wrong! The mental awareness to lead

That is definitely a great reason. I run for my cross country team and know that you need stamina to achieve a goal (in the case of cross country, crossing the finish line without collapsing).
