Handing A Business Card To Someone Else

Not everyone will want a business card from you, but there will be other people who would be more than happy to have your business card. The goal is to be able to hand out as many business cards as possible to people who you know will use those business cards to remember who you are.

More people are buying business cards and giving them to other people as the days go by, but not everyone is doing it right. The two best ways to get people to pick up your business cards (and not throw them in the trash) is to keep the business cards by the door or engage in a conversation.

I went to a restaurant a few days ago, and the first thing I saw was a small table with business cards. I did not pick up a card because I remembered picking one up earlier. I picked up a business card from that same table a few months ago and ended up finding myself in the same restaurant. I still go to that same restaurant a couple of times every year. The phone number was also there which was very helpful in the event that we would have any questions about when the restaurant would open. For restaurants, retail stores, and similar places, leave the business cards by the door. Being given a business card by a representative is not the best approach.

There is also another really good method to use when handing out business cards. Entrepreneurs who do not have their own store often engage in conversations with people they think will want your business card. Depending on the number of business cards an entrepreneur can hand out, conversations can last 5-10 minutes. The less a conversation lasts, the better because the entrepreneur will be able to give out more of his or her business cards to more people. Some conversations will exceed 10 minutes, but as long as most conversations do not exceed 10 minutes, the entrepreneur will be able to give his or her business card to a lot of people.

The worst time to give someone your business card is at the beginning of a conversation. Giving a business card to someone who doesn’t know you won’t work well. This is why building conversations is very important. By having a conversation with others, you will entice them to take your business card when you offer it to them.

Those are the two best ways to give your business card to other people. The firm handshake and properly distributing the business cards also apply. If you want to go big, you need to have your own business card so that more people will know and remember you faster.

The Curse Of Superstition

If you make a lot of sales, it’s not because that was the first day you decided to wear blue socks. Wearing blue socks the next day won’t result in a lot of sales. No one succeeds only because they drink out of the same mug every day.

The only way to succeed is to put in a lot of work. Superstition does not replace the requirement of working every day to achieve a goal. No one runs a really good race just because of their socks. They run a really good race by practicing.

The Easier Path Isn’t Always The Right One To Take

One story that I heard has always stuck in my mind, and since I recently finished my last final exam of the year, I remembered the same story yet again.

The story does involve a final exam. The students were given the exam, but it was given to them face down. It was a big packet just like any exam would be. The teacher told his students not to flip the exam packet face up at all.

The teacher then does something that most teachers would not do. He tells his students that they can leave the room, not take the exam, and end up with a B. There were a lot of people who left the room probably because they didn’t study or just wanted to enjoy the summer.

The few remaining students who are in the room get nervous, and when the teacher asks again if anyone else wants a B, one of the students leaves.

The teacher asks for a final time if anyone wants to leave and get a B, but no one gets up. Everyone remains seated and ready to take the exam, which is still face down.

The teacher finally tells his students to flip the exam face-up so they can begin. On the front of the exam, the first page of the exam says, “Congratulations. You have just aced the exam.”

You don’t ace the exam just by showing up. Anyone can show up and then leave at a given notice. You ace the exam by answering the questions correctly and believing that you can get the A. Showing up is only half of the battle. Actually wanting to stay is the other half.

It is sticking with your ideas and not taking the easier path that will allow you to be very successful instead of being like everyone else.

Who’s Saying What

I’m sure you have seen a commercial of a movie in theaters. There are so many of these commercials claiming the same thing: that their movie is the Number 1 movie in America. The key word is their. The critics who only give the movie 1 star won’t be seen. The critics who give the movie a 5 out of 5 will be shown. All of the retail stores sell the perfect products that everyone loves…according to the commercial.

The Red Sox fan who says the Red Sox are better than the Yankees is showing bias because he or she is a Red Sox fan. The person telling everyone how great their book is could be the author.

If you are deciding whether or not to buy a product, never ask the retail store. If you are deciding whether or not to buy a book, don’t ask the author. They will not be able to give you an honest review. The author will never say their book is bad and the retail store will never tell you to go to another one. Targets isn’t telling everyone to go to Walmart, and Walmart isn’t telling everyone to go to Target.

Make sure you know who is talking or who is giving the description. A customer is the best source for a product because they make no money with their opinion. The customer already spent money on the product. If the product is really good, the customer will find a way to give that product a good review. If that product is really bad, the customer will surely find a way to give that product a bad review.

Expiration Dates Are Everywhere

Information gets old. Cheese rots. Membership to a website is over. There are many things that expire over time. The main reason things expire is because information is updated, someone wants more money, or food just went bad.

There is no set expiration date for a blog. With daily posts containing updated information, the blog itself will never get old. There are some blog posts that may have false statistics such as “Twitter only having 100 million users.” That was true a while ago, but now that statement is false. Twitter currently has over 500 million users, but that can change as well.

New information contradicts old information, more money is needed to regain membership to a website, and cheese rots so you know if it is safe to eat or not. The visitor is always searching for something. Make sure you give them something without an expiration date.

The only way to do that is to constantly update your blog, Twitter account, and everywhere else that you write online.

Lightsabers And Bacteria

In Star Wars, the lightsaber was the weapon of choice. The lightsaber could cut through everything in sight and deflect bullets. Lightsabers are an innovation to the sword which is just metal. The lightsaber can also do more damage than a normal sword. A lightsaber shows innovation and power; a splendid combination.

However, the person using the lightsaber doesn’t have to be a good person. The Siths use red lightsabers and get what they want by force. They are using the innovation and power of a lightsaber for their evil deeds. The Jedi use the blue and green lightsabers, fight off the Siths, and they are the peacemakers. In a constant struggle to have intergalactic peace, the Jedi and Siths often encounter each other. A lightsaber can do good, but it can also cause a lot of havoc and destruction.

Bacteria are very similar to lightsabers, although they have some differences. A bacterium won’t be able to cut through steel, but under good conditions, they can divide into 2 bacteria every 20 minutes. If there were perfect conditions for bacteria to divide for an entire day, there would be over 4 trillion bacteria.

Bacteria are more abundant than lightsabers by far, but the entire concept is the exact same. There are some bacteria that we couldn’t function as well without them, but there are also other bacteria that can be very harmful.

The lightsabers are more known for being able to do good and evil, but the bacteria are able to slip past the lines. The bacteria have a choice to show up as a benefactor or a malefactor.
