The 5 Most Common Twitter Mistakes

January 25, 2014 by Marc Guberti 15 Comments

Twitter has helped transform numerous businesses, and there are more businesses using Twitter in order to get the transformation. However, many people and businesses are making these 5 common mistakes on Twitter. If you want to know if your account is good or needs to have some changes, read this entire blog post. These are the 5 most common mistakes people make on Twitter:

  1. Having a bad bio. Many people know that not having a bio is a big mistake on Twitter, and that’s why few Twitter accounts don’t have bios. However, not everyone writes a good bio. These are some ways to write a higher quality bio with those 160 characters.
  2. Not tweeting about your blog enough. The rule everyone has been led to believe is that 20% of your tweets should be about your blog while the other 80% should be about other things. Many people with thousands of followers (and some of these people have over 100,000 followers) make this mistake. I made this mistake until I reached 20,000 followers. I decided to tweet about my blog for most of the day. The result was a dramatic increase in traffic. I did not lose followers when I tweeted about my blog. In fact, I gained more followers when I tweeted about my blog. Twitter is all about building awareness for a blog or product while meeting other people. The more you tweet about your blog, the more awareness you are building.
  3. Not interacting with your followers. HootSuite and other tweet scheduling tools are incredible. You don’t have to be on Twitter every hour in order to tweet every hour. There are people who use these tweet scheduling tools and forget to login to their Twitter account. Followers with questions don’t get answered. That’s a bad move, and all you have to do to avoid that is to check Twitter three times a day and reply to your followers when they want to talk with you or have a question.
  4. Not following back. Too many people make this mistake. Every newbie at one point thinks that they are going to be the next verified person with 100,000 followers while only following 10 people. That’s what I thought, but when that didn’t happen, I decided to follow people. Following others is an essential way to get more people to follow you back and hear about you.
  5. Not tweeting enough. Many people make the mistake of only tweeting a few times throughout the day. I define too few as tweeting 5 times in the day. In order to get more attention, you need to be tweeting more often. When you tweet more often, you should also tweet consistently. I consistently tweet once every hour (I’ll eventually bring up the rate to one tweet every half an hour). The more I tweet, the more followers and blog traffic I get.

By avoiding these 5 common mistakes, you will be able to get more out of Twitter. By consistently avoiding these mistakes and tweeting along the way, you will be able to transform your business with Twitter.

How To Successfully Respond To Change Just Like Squidoo Did

January 24, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

The internet changed a lot in 2013. Many popular websites that were getting numerous visitors were getting the slap from Google. One of those websites was Squidoo where I have over 150 lenses (micro blogs).

Ever since Squidoo got the slap, and the slap really hurt, they have been making big changes. Many of these changes turned me off as a user. I only created a few lenses in 2013 because that’s when all of the crazy changes started to happen.

Then came 2014 when Squidoo decided to have all Giant Squids reapply to the program. Giant Squids are the people on Squidoo with over 25 quality lenses that members of Squidoo HQ have looked at and approved. Getting there is a big accomplishment, and I did not want it to be taken away from me. As a result, I reapplied and as a result created 3 new Squidoo lenses. I used a format that makes the new Squidoo lenses similar to a blog post. These were the three lenses that I created:

  1. How To Get A Targeted Following On Twitter
  2. How To Lower Your Blog’s Bounce Rate
  3. How To Find The Best Guest Blog For You

I would have never created those three lenses if my Giant Squid status was on the line. After creating those three lenses, I was able to see once again how easy and fun it is to use Squidoo. I may schedule some tweets with my Squidoo lenses in the future as well.

I highly doubt I was the only Giant Squid who reapplied. There must be thousands of Giant Squids on Squidoo. If 2,500 Giant Squid lensmasters created 3 lenses each, that would be an additional 7,500 lenses on Squidoo. If those lenses all get 1 visitor every day, that’s an extra 7,500 visitors every day. In addition, some lensmasters such as myself will be more encouraged to create lenses and share them with everyone.

I will be writing more Squidoo lenses like the three above and sharing them on my blog and on my social networks. This change was a really good one. Squidoo did get the slap, but it is on the rise.

Create an account here. It’s fun and easy. I promise.

How To Get Found By People With Guest Blogs

January 24, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Finding guest blogs can be a gruesome process. There are a lot of factors that go into finding the perfect guest blog such as the traffic, approval rate, and several other factors as well. First you have to find those guest blogs, and then you have to go through all of those factors. However, what if all of the people with guest blogs found you.

It should work like that. However, that is not the case for many people. In the beginning, everyone who pursues guest blogging needs to find guest blogging opportunities. I had to do a lot of searching before I finally found the Business2Community blog where I have been writing guest posts ever since.

The approach that saves a lot of time is for the guest blogging opportunities to find you. In order to get the opportunities to find you, you need to establish yourself as an expert of your niche. You need to show off your knowledge in your blog posts and follow people on your social networks who would be your target audience. Some of these followers will eventually read your blog and have a guest blog. These people will like the content on your blog and ask you if you can submit a guest post.

This is the method that I use in order to get more guest posting opportunities. I no longer need to spend as much time looking for guest blogging opportunities as I have to spend writing guest posts. As more people see your content on different parts of the web, their trust for you will grow.

How To Create A Powerful KeyNote Presentation

January 23, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are several reasons why people create KeyNote presentations. Some people create KeyNote presentations for school projects. Other people create them for fun. There are also those experts that create KeyNote presentations so they can present them to the public. By creating a powerful KeyNote presentation, you will be able to captivate the audience.

In order to create a KeyNote presentation that captivates the audience, you need to have pictures on multiple slides. A picture is worth a thousand words, and the pictures will grab everyone’s attention. By adding special effects to your KeyNote presentations (but not going overboard), you will be able to grab more of your audience’s attention.

After you grab the audience’s attention, your KeyNote needs to be something that your audience will want to pay attention to. If your audience is people who want to learn more about Twitter, a KeyNote presentation on Twitter will be something your audience will want to pay attention to.

In your KeyNote, you need to provide essential information that your audience will be able to retain and implement. In a Twitter presentation, the essentials would be how to get more retweets, how to get more followers, how to get more engagement, and so on. These are the basics, and as your presentation progresses, introduce some of the advanced information you know about your topic of choice.

If you are presenting your KeyNote to an audience in public, have a Q&A page where people in the audience get to ask you questions. The Q&A acts as a mini break that allows people to engage in conversation with each other and you. Giving your audience good answers will further establish yourself as an expert of your niche.

Whether you are a public speaker, or you are going for an A in your class, creating powerful KeyNote presentations is a skill with many benefits. In order to create compelling KeyNotes that captivate your audience, you need to make sure these aspects are in your KeyNotes.

5 Powerful Factors That Go Into Getting More Conversations With Your Followers On Twitter

January 23, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Having conversations on Twitter will allow you to build connections with your followers. However, the process of having conversations with your followers is a challenging process. There are a lot of factors that go into how many conversations you have with your followers. These are the 5 powerful factors that play a role into determining how many conversations you have on Twitter.

  1. Are your followers your target audience? I would rather have 10,000 targeted followers than have 100,000 un-targeted followers. Targeted followers are the ones who enjoy the type of content that you tweet about. When you tweet a good blog post, people will reply to that tweet.
  2. How quickly you respond. If someone mentions you or replies to one of your tweets, the length of the conversation depends on how quickly you respond. If you respond seconds later (although that rarely happens for any of us), the conversation will keep on going. If you respond within a day, you will still be able to keep the conversation going. The conversation is less likely to continue if you don’t respond to the tweet for days.
  3. How actively you are talking to your followers. When people go down your timeline, and they see that you are actively talking with your followers, some of those people will decide to mention you and start a conversation. When they start the conversation, respond as soon as possible.
  4. How big your audience is. The bigger your audience, the more conversations you are going to have. These are some ways to make that audience larger.
  5. How many conversations you have with people who are not following you yet. When you have a conversation with someone who is not following you yet, and the conversation progresses, that person will probably follow you. When that person follows you, you can rest assured that you will have more conversations with that person.

Having long conversations on Twitter does not have to be a challenge. By utilizing these 5 powerful factors well, you will have more conversations with your followers that last and eventually turn them into loyal customers.

How To Find The Motivation To Continue Something

January 22, 2014 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

When we give ourselves goals to strive for, we feel the excitement. We feel empowered and ready to accomplish our goals. However, that feeling of empowerment does not last forever. In order to keep that good feeling of empowerment, you need to stay motivated as you work on your goal. This blog post will be about keeping that motivation so you can accomplish your current goals, and the other goals you give yourself later on.

The secret ingredient to motivation is the mindset. However, the secret ingredient can either be the winning formula or the poison that diminishes motivation. This do or die secret ingredient is the mindset. In order to be motivated, you need to have a powerful mindset.

Along with the powerful mindset comes the vision. Where do you see yourself. What are the things that you imagine yourself accomplishing. Keep on thinking about those good things throughout your journey whether you are currently working on your goal or taking a 30 minute break.

Another great way to keep the motivation you have acquired is by reading inspirational quotes. I tweet inspirational quotes every day at 3 am, 9 am, 3 pm, and 9 pm Eastern Time. You can download an app on your phone with a bunch of inspirational quotes or search the internet for them. When you find a really good inspirational quote, write it in your notebook and keep a collection of them.

Remembering where you started will allow you to see how much you have already accomplished. This will allow you to plan and wonder what else you can accomplish. By remembering the accomplishments, you will realize all of the great things you have already done. When people lose motivation, they usually forget about all of their other accomplishments. By remembering your accomplishments, you will be able to keep that motivation stirring!

There are numerous ways to remain motivated. I will definitely be writing a series of blog posts about keeping motivation. There is definitely going to be a Part 2, but there could also be a Part 3 and other parts as well. Use these tactics in order to stay motivated so you can get your goals accomplished.

If you use any other tactics to stay motivated, please share them below.
