Why Everyone Needs To Dream Big

February 22, 2014 by Marc Guberti 14 Comments

I'm happy to see you around. You may want to subscribe to my blog. Thanks for visiting!

Welcome back! I am so happy to see that you have come back for more.

As the saying goes, “Go big or go home.” There is no longer a life of the in between. You can either be a leader of your niche or not the leader of your niche. That’s the only way there is. The in between option was taken out years ago because the need to become #1 dramatically increased with the introduction and rise of social networks and blogs.

The only way to become the best of your niche is to dream big. As you keep on dreaming big, you will give yourself a giant goal to chase after. Some goals may take weeks to complete while others may take more than a year. However, by dreaming big, you are increasing your standards. Dreaming big results in more productivity.

Dreaming small results in lower standards. An example of dreaming small would be wanting to have 1,000 followers in 2 years. You would only have to gain 1-2 followers a day in order to make that dream become a reality. However, dreaming bigger, let’s say getting 100,000 followers in that same period of time, will result in you being more productive and getting more done. Whether you reach the 100,000 milestone or not within the 2 year period, you are going to be well above the 1,000 follower milestone.

Dreaming big gives us a boost in confidence. Dreaming also allows us to plan our futures. After we dream big, all we need to do is act accordingly. By dreaming big, you will know what you want to accomplish. All you would have to do after that is accomplish the dream.

Another thing I’d like to add. You mention leader in your niche. We of course don’t need to pick a niche. I’m in the process of building a life around all my passions and in so doing staying true to who I am as a scanner or multipotentialite.

There are countless examples of people doing this. In starting a blog for instance, I would advocate having a broad topic, so you don’t get bored in terms of having to write about one thing.

That being said, everyone is different, so stay true to yourself.

I agree that we have to stay true to ourselves. In many cases, the passion lines up with the niche. I have a strong passion for digital marketing which helps me since I am in the digital marketing niche.

Nice article 🙂 we only have one life, so might as well give it our all. Dream big. Take action and every step, no matter how small is a win.

    Cheers

Dreaming big is definitely more fun than dreaming small. You couldn’t have said it any better.

    Hi Marc,

Another good article, as usual. I guess that was Michaelangelo who said, worse than set an high goal and fail, it’s to set a low one and achieve it!
Of course, you should think strategically, define all the steps and path you should follow, predict which problems you may face, a big boat, faces all the time biggest storms. But how fun it is to have a flat wide road all the way, none, I guess!
    Keep going!!!

Thank you Marco. I’ll be sure to keep going.
I believe in setting big goals like New Year’s resolutions, but I also believe in creating stepping stones that make New Year’s resolutions easier to achieve.

It sounds like you had a great discussion Peter 🙂
Dreaming big is very important because dreaming big prevents us from limiting our thinking. There are few things worse to do than put limits on yourself. Don’t be afraid of your dreams because if you keep on putting in the work and believing in your dreams, they will come to pass.

If you need to walk a mile, aim for 2 miles. Great article, thank you!

Another home run Marc! The only thing I caution is for people that have a fear of failure. Sometimes dreaming too big can land you in a rut, and you need to dial it down just a touch (or map out the EASY TO FOLLOW steps to get there).

Once again, I’m very impressed by your insight here Marc. You also are an EXCELLENT writer/communicator.

Although that is true (and there have been a lot of bad blunders), it is better to make big mistakes than it is to not try at the things that you want to pursue.
