Your Own Future

What do you see and what do you want? They should be the same thing, and what you become should be positive. A positive future is a positive life.

What Your Visitors Want To See

February 28, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Visitors mainly want something that will help them out with something, teach them a lesson, give them a nice laugh, or find the lowest prices. If you can somehow put all four of these things together in your business, you will have a very successful business. An example is GEICO which has a lot of humor, low prices, teaches you some lessons with some of the comercials, and helps you out if you are looking for car insurance. GEICO has been around for a long time, and if you want to be successful for a long time, I recommend putting all 4 of these ideas into your business plan.

Are Best Practices REALLY The Best?

February 27, 2013 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

In a guide on how to do good on exams, a common suggestion that may appear is to study for a long time. When midterms come up, everyone tells me to study for hours. A majority of people study for hours which would make someone think this is the best method, but is it? I thought that over-studying would result me in losing interest in the material and ultimately thinking about what else I could possibly be doing. I ended up studying for only 30 minutes a day (even for midterms). When people see 30 minutes a day for exams and midterms, it is easy to think that 30 minutes isn’t enough time. I don’t even study for 3 straight weeks, but instead I only study a couple of days before the test (at least 3 days before). There weren’t too many people who liked my plan of studying before I took the test because the motto is “Study, study, study!” When I followed that motto, I got a really bad grade on a Global Test (I’m not going to say what it was. We have all had bad grades). With my plan of studying, I have been getting A’s on my Global exams and the midterm as well (the Global Tests are not pushovers).

What is the lesson we should all learn today from my studying habits? Just because everyone is doing something doesn’t make it the best practice, even if everyone says it is the best practice. You must be ready to jump out of the boundaries of expectation and do what you feel will affect you in a positive way. There is more than 1 way to peel a banana.

Why Businesses Succeed

February 26, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are many businesses in the world. Some are successful, but many others aren’t so successful. Businesses succeed by providing customers with what they need for a lower price. Businesses also succeed by always getting better. A business that is satisfied with over 1 million dollars a year could miss out a chance at getting 10 million dollars a year. That’s a big difference, but you only get the results with patience and dedication.

Distractions

February 25, 2013 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

I have a 3 week break from track and field (now 2 and a half), and I have been trying to practice everyday in order to run a mile in under 5 minutes (right now I am at 5 minutes and 27 seconds). I have successfully been able to practice everyday whenever that means running 6 miles, doing some core work, lifting weights, or even doing squats. However, there are many distractions that come up every once in a while. The video game consoles, TV, and computer (I only use the computer for work) often get in the way. While I do want to play video games, watch TV, and do work on the computer, my priority at that moment is to do my workout. The distractions are usually more inviting, but distractions will stop us from reaching our goals which for me is to run the mile in under 5 minutes. I do everything else (the video games, TV, and computer work) after my workout so that I don’t have to be frustrated at around 8 p.m. that I missed my workout. There is always time to get distracted but there isn’t always time to do what you want to accomplish. Do the distractions after you do what you accomplish.

We Always Try To Explain Everything

February 24, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

The title of this blog post is true. As human beings, we always try to explain everything (why it happens, how it happens, etc) even if we do not know the answer ourselves. There are some unexplainable miracles that have occurred throughout history that we try to explain. Sometimes, we explain something we do not fully understand just to feel more confident and get some reassurance that what we say is correct. We must learn to explain only what we fully know because if we try to explain something we do not know, we could be corrupting the minds of our listeners.
