People Spend A Lot Of Time On Pinterest (And Why It’s Important To Know)

Pinterest users spend an average of 90 minutes on the social network for each of their visits. Pinterest has rapidly grown, but why is that statistic important for you?

Since millions of people are spending more time on Pinterest than most social networks, that means your followers will be looking at your boards longer. That means the more pins you have, the better.

The more pins you have, the more times you will get repinned. The person with 1,000 pins usuallly gets more repins than the person with only 100 pins (assuming they both have the same number of followers).

People will repin your pins, and eventually, they will find your products. Pinners turn into clients, and then Pinterest will earn you a big revenue and increase the traffic on your blog. My traffic has gone up by 33% ever since I added a “Pin It” button and pictures on this blog.

Pinterest doesn’t have many teenagers yet (I’m one of the exceptions). 80% of Pinterest users are women, and most of them have children. That means they will use Pinterest as Christmas approaches. That also means they and other users will want products that fit their needs as well. 80% of Pinterest users are women, but there are still millions of men on Pinterest as well.

People are spending a lot of time on Pinterest which will allow you to grab their attention for a longer amount of time.

Better Than Expected

Some things are expected. A person who pays for coaching expects to be coached. A person who pays for someone to mow their lawn expects their lawn to be mowed efficiently. Those are expectations.

When the coach in that session decides to give a free book to you, that’s better than expected. In order to be effective, having an extra surprise will help you out a lot. This is the concept of over delivering which is important for your business.

The problem for most people is that they give everything away. We knew everything there was to know about the iPhone 5 before it was sold. We knew the price before we paid. Those are expectations, but these people aren’t over delivering.

They’re just delivering. The iPhone 5 is an incredible iPhone (as they all are), but people are quick to say that the only difference is a bigger screen which we all knew about. Maybe a surprise could be more space on the phone, applications getting installed as soon as you press the install button with no hassle.

Apple will continue to succeed for a long time because they create quality products. For most products, it is very difficult to have a surprise. For Apple, the media revolving around the iPhone 5 could have been the reason there weren’t any special surprises.

The advantage of being an entrepreneur with your own business is that you can easily have surprises. If you coach someone and receive $50, surprise the person you coached by giving them one of your free books (or something like that). You still get a profit, that person is happy because you gave them a surprise (over delivering), and in this case, the person would read your book. They’re even more likely to remember who you are.

The surprises and extras you hand out will only result in one giant surprise waiting to be given out to you. Free is better, but only for the consumer. If you can give someone a product for free while making a profit (similar to the coaching session), that is your gold mine. Exceed expectation!

I Want To Be

End the sentence anyway you want.

Ask yourself why.

Are you taking action to turn that sentence into a lifestyle?

Are you taking enough action?

Take more action.

Take more than enough action.

The best time to start was a few years ago.

The second best time is now.

The only way to become who you want to be is by taking action now.

There’s no way around it.

Finding a way to avoid taking action will only make things worse.

So what do you want to be?

Perro Caliente Here

Hot dogs are popular, and baseball games are one of the ideal places for people to buy hot dogs. Fans get to eat and watch a game at the same time (although there are healthier hot dogs available).

However, most of the people who sell the hot dogs don’t do a good job at it. Those people say, “Hot dogs, hot dogs. Get your hot dogs here,” or something like that. That’s not remarkable. It’s bland, common, and boring. It doesn’t entice anyone to buy a hot dog.

But what if the hot dogs would soon be dog gone? What if someone actually said that? I have attended many Mets games. The baseball game is something that I watch, but the guy who sells hot dogs where we sit is remarkable.

He sells hot dogs, but he doesn’t say “hot dogs” once. How could a person selling hot dogs get sales without saying the word “hot dogs?”

I recently saw this person make two sales in five minutes. How did that work? Sure, the fans were hungry, but they could have just bought a hot dog from someone else.

Instead of saying, “Get your hot dogs here,” this person said something totally different. I never heard anyone say it before, and you probably haven’t heard anyone say it either. He always said, “Perro caliente here.” Then he would say, “Perro, perro,” and then he would actually bark like a dog. That woof, woof, woof that you only hear from dogs was used by that person to sell more hot dogs.

Before he leaves, he warns people that when he returns, the perro calientes might be dog gone.

Don’t be like everyone else. Find a way to be different and remarkable. That’s how you end up getting two sales in five minutes.

The Problem With Commitment

Commitment isn’t the problem.

The fact that commitment is so rare is the problem.

People don’t want to be committed.

It’s much easier to avoid being committed.

The easier path isn’t always the right one.

A Rare Day Off

I was typing away another blog post a week ago, and then I realized I didn’t write anything the day before. I had taken the day off. However, it wasn’t a day off. It was a rare day off.

I enjoy writing which is why the rare day off didn’t feel like the best day in the world. People who have 3 different jobs can’t wait for their day off. I try to avoid it as much as possible. In fact, I had been writing for about a year with no days off. Not writing for a day seemed foreign to me.

When you have your next day off, ask yourself if you’re having a day off or a rare day off. If you’re having a rare day off, why is it so rare?
