5 Reasons To Stick With A Goal

February 11, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

goal

Some goals are more challenging than others, and when the workload comes in, we question our goals at the moment. This results in too many people quitting at the wrong time for the wrong reasons. Some bloggers are publishing one blog post every day. Being that consistent requires a big investment in time, and then the quality of the content also has to go into consideration.

Some goals are not worth sticking with while other goals couldn’t become more important than they already are. Some goals are made to cut loose while others are made to be stuck with. These are the 5 reasons that you should stick with a goal. If you have most of these reasons to stick with one of your goals, stick with it. If you have one or none of these reasons to stick with a goal, you should consider dropping it. However, you should strategically drop that goal versus dropping it at the moment.

  1. The amount of work you put into a goal. The further you have gone in the dip, the less likely you should be to give up on a goal. You don’t want to become well-known in your niche and decide that’s when you are going to give in. It takes a lot of time to get noticed, and giving up after you put in a lot of work is not the right path to take.
  2. You enjoy the work. Fitness freaks enjoy doing workouts. Top bloggers enjoy writing books. Surfers enjoy riding on the waves. Enjoying the work that you do and to go even further, loving the work that you do will allow you to be more productive. If you love what you do, don’t stop.
  3. How huge the impact is. What are going to be the rewards of doing the workout every day? If it results in you getting a lot stronger, then the workout was well worth it. If a blogger’s book results in that person becoming a bestselling author with a stronger presence, then the work it took to write the book was well worth it.
  4. How much you want to accomplish the goal. If you “sort of” want to accomplish the goal, that is not the goal for you. The goals that you pursue need to be the ones that you have a passion for and want to accomplish them as soon as possible.
  5. Accomplishing this goal will help you accomplish other goals as well. This part should not be the final decision, but choosing the goals that lead into your other goals is very helpful. A blogger’s goal may be to get more traffic to his or her blog. The blogger can build a following on a social network and use that social network to increase blog traffic. If one of the blogger’s goals is to grow a powerful social media following, then that goal helps out towards accomplishing another goal which is to get more blog traffic.

Not all goals are worth sticking with. Some goals will be a lot of fun to work on while others goals will not be as fun (those are the ones you drop). These are the best reasons to stick with a goal. If you don’t have a reason to stick with a goal, that goal is not worth sticking with.

How To Get Quality Clients

February 11, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Striving to get clients in bulk used to be the norm. Although it is still a common occurrence, more businesses are paying attention to getting quality clients versus having a big list of clients. There are numerous books such as The Pumpkin Plan and numerous blog posts including this one that have been talking about the difference between quality clients and the big list of clients.

However, getting the quality clients is by no means easy. In the beginning, focusing on getting the big list is better than focusing on the quality. You need to start off by playing the quantity game in order to get quality clients. When you are playing the quantity game, there are going to be some clients who you won’t be able to stand. These clients may be the ones with late payments, a bad attitude, and the need to be late.

While you will encounter clients you won’t like in the beginning, some of the clients you encounter will be nice people who pay you on time, arrive 10 minutes early, and have a blissful attitude. Those clients tend to make up about 5-10% of the big list. When you know someone is a top client, treat them like the VIP. Put the non-quality clients on hold when your quality client gives you a call. The quality clients are your top priority, and those quality clients will tell their friends about you.

After you have 10-20 quality clients, you are ready to take the quality game more seriously. When you establish these quality clients, cut the services that your quality clients do not want and focus more on the services that your quality clients do want. The more you specialize your business for your quality clients, the more they will respect you for it. With great respect comes more word of mouth. As quality clients tell people about you, you will end up getting more quality clients.

All you can do now is please your quality clients. That won’t be challenging because your quality clients will do a good job at pleasing you–no late payments, early arrival to meeting, and a good attitude. Those quality clients will give you new connections which will bring forth more quality clients.

5 Ways Businesses Can Use Vine Videos

February 10, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

vine logo

Vine seems like a social network that is primarily for teenagers. It seems challenging to come up with a video for business in 6 seconds. Days after I started taking Vine seriously, I couldn’t stop using it. In fact, I am still using Vine to this day, and I will continue to use it.

The problem many entrepreneurs face is that they do not know exactly how to use Vine for their businesses. There are plenty of ways to use Vine for businesses that most people have not tapped into yet. These are 5 ways that businesses can use Vine videos.

  1. Write tips about your niche. These tips go by super fast, and when someone clicks to pause the video, they will see one of your tips. If the first tip they see is good, they will stay on that video, click to see your other tips, and then do the same for your other Vine videos as well. These are my tips for Twitter, Pinterest, and Blogging.
  2. Host giveaways. By hosting giveaways, you will be able to increase your visibility on Vine. If you tell people to revine your Vines in order to enter the giveaway, more people will know about it. Soon enough, it will go viral.
  3. Have a teaser for your upcoming product. Use Vine to create the buzz for all of your upcoming products. You can show your followers the product and point out some of the features.
  4. Have a customer appreciation week. Give one random customer a shout out for being a great customer every week. This will encourage those customers to buy more of your products, and other customers will have something to strive for–being the customer of the week (bragging rights).
  5. Tell people about an upcoming event. Are you hosting a Google+ Hangout Q&A soon? Are you going to New York City to speak at an event? Are you going to host a giveaway? Tell people about it on Vine, and they will go to that event.

There are too many businesses who are underestimating Vine’s potential impact. Those are only 5 ways that businesses can use Vine. There will be a Part 2 to this blog post. In fact, there may be more than 3 parts to this blog post. If you don’t have a Vine account now, I highly recommend getting one.

Do You Have Any Questions About Social Media, Business, Or Blogging?

February 10, 2014 by Marc Guberti 5 Comments

I’ll answer them. However, answering your question with a comment will not be the only thing I do. 2014 is going to bring forth a lot of changes. Starting in April, my YouTube videos will have a different setting. One of the big additions is a white board (idea paint on a wall).

If you have any questions about social media, business, or blogging, I will reply to your comment with an answer. I will also create a YouTube video that is revolved around your question. In the future, I will also do a Q&A or two (they will be announced).

I am in the New Year resolutions lifestyle, and 2014 is going to be a big year. I have a lot of things planned such as a giveaway in April of my Twitter Domination Training Course, other giveaways, longer videos, and more.

If you have any questions about social media, business, or blogging, you don’t have to search around the internet anymore. Just leave your question below and I will answer it as soon as possible.

5 Steps To Finding The Right People In Your Niche To Interview

February 9, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

interview

When it comes to hosting an interview, a lot of things need to go right. The technology needs to be right (I recommend Google+ Hangouts), and the person you are interviewing needs to be someone who your audience will be interested in. In an interview, you are introducing someone to your audience. In order to get the best reaction from your audience, the person who you interview needs to provide really good information. That’s why I had Mike Michalowicz come by and talk about his book, The Pumpkin Plan. We have already scheduled an upcoming interview in August about his upcoming book, Profit First.

Here are the 5 steps that will allow you to find the right people in your niche to interview:

Step 1: You want to interview the people who are going to provide your targeted audience with the knowledge that they are looking for. My targeted audience is the people interested in social media, business, and blogging. This means I am only going to look for people in those three niches. Step 1 is primarily to identify which niches you want to find people in.

Step 2: There are going to be thousands of options. However, finding the people you want to interview out of those thousand is a challenging process. Before you decide whether or not to interview someone, read one of their books. A book will allow you to see some of the insight that the potential interviewee has. If someone you are considering to interview does not have a book or if you do not want to buy the book right away, read some of their blog posts instead. If you like the content of the blog posts, you know that person is a potential interviewee.

Step 3: The next step is to identify the people with big followings. The person with 100,000 followers is 10 times more likely to get the interview than the person with 10,000 followers (assuming that both are in the same niche). This person will most likely promote the interview when it goes up on YouTube. This will give you access to a new audience that is still a targeted one.

Step 4: Contact the people you want to interview. Some will respond while others will not. If you get a response, that response will most likely be a big yes. Entrepreneurs enjoy getting as much exposure and traffic as they can get. The interview will help them just as much as it helps you.

Step 5: Create a schedule for your interviews. Give your potential interviewees multiple options for the interview. When you and the interviewee reach an agreement, tell your followers about the interview. Get the ball rolling, and just like the snowball effect, it will continue to roll.

By implementing this 5 step plan, you will be able to find the best people to interview and successfully schedule a date to have them interviewed. All you have to do after that is find the right technology to host the interview (I’ll recommend Google+ Hangouts for a second time) and prepare for the interview.

Is Your Message Clear Or Foggy (And How To Tell)?

February 9, 2014 by Marc Guberti 3 Comments

Entrepreneurs create powerful businesses by having clear messages. Startups and people who just begin to get into the entrepreneurial spirit quickly learn how important it is to have a message. However, there are too many people who forget about having a clear message.

Having a clear message equates to more traffic, sales, subscribers, and everything else that a business wants more of. Having a clear message gives people a reason to come back and buy your other products. Most people have a foggy, or even worse, an undefined message. These messages do not equate to an increase in traffic, sales, or subscribers. In fact, these kinds of messages make it harder for people to find you. When people do find you, having a foggy message makes the visitor less likely to stick around.

Instead of playing by chance, there are some ways to tell whether your message is a clear or foggy one. If you are able to tell that your message is a clear one, that’s great. If it’s foggy, you need to work on your message so more people learn about you and decide to stick around.

In order to tell whether your message is clear or foggy, the first thing you have to do is look at your message and make an honest decision about whether your message is clear or not. Some people will be honest with themselves and realize that their message is foggy. Others will lie to themselves and say that their message is clear. There will also be the few who have a clear message for their target audience.

The fact that some people will not be honest with themselves is the reason this process has two steps. The second step will allow you to know the truth because you lose some control in this step. This step requires you to ask your friends what they think is the message of your business.

This part is very important. Here is the question that a lot of people ask, which is a big mistake (I used myself as the example), “Did I do a good job at telling people that one of the messages is that teenagers can do more than they think?” Your friend is going to say yes because they don’t want you to feel bad. Saying no would break the code of friendship. Then you and your friend don’t talk for a while. That’s why your friends will say yes to that question to avoid that fate.

Friends also say yes just to make you feel good. When you hear a friend say yes, that gives you the reassurance that your message is a clear one. Friends have said yes in the past so they don’t hurt the feelings of other friends. Asking the wrong question will taint the truth.

Instead of asking a question, just say, “Tell me what you as the consumer think the message of my business is.” This is not a yes or no question. They either go in detail about how clear your message is or how foggy your message is. Some friends will try to say that your message is clear when it is not. You will be able to identify most of these people because they will have a shaky voice when telling you how ‘clear’ the message is.

When you ask your friends, make sure you choose the friends that will take the time to come up with a good answer. Getting better answers will allow you to take more action.
