June 2019 Performance Report

July 11, 2019 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

This is a very late performance report because it honestly slipped out of my mind with everything going on.

June honestly feels like a blur since I’m writing this in mid-July, but I’ll share some of the highlights.

The Advanced Affiliate Marketing Summit Went Well

This was the 6th virtual summit I organized and it went well. Over 20 speakers came together to give attendees a great experience.

This was a different set-up as I used ClickFunnels for the opt-in page and Teachable for the All-Access Pass.

The combo worked well, but I do see myself going with the old model of Optimize Press for future summits.

Breakthrough Success — The Book

I almost finished writing the book in June and was able to get it done in the first few days of July. I’m currently editing the book leading up to its July 17th release. I only have 3 days to edit the entire book hence the shortness of this Performance Report.

The YouTube Channel Is Moving 🙂

We added almost 200 extra subscribers this month and are at a little over 3,400 subscribers. To be honest, July has been a little slow for the channel so far but that’s because I haven’t published as many videos or done the marketing in July.

Right now I’m on a 2 week creation schedule that…at its completion…will give me enough video content until the start of October.

And I’ve still got a few calls left with my YouTube coach. There’s a lot of great potential.

In Conclusion

June was a very productive month, but I do have a deadline to meet for my Breakthrough Success book. I also don’t want to talk too much about things that happened in July.

I’ll make the next one longer, but this is where we conclude this month’s performance report.

May 2019 Performance Report

June 7, 2019 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Summer break is kicking in which means tons of extra productivity on my end. I am making big expansion plays which I’ll talk about in this report, and since I only have one semester left of college (wow, it’s coming to an end), I’ll soon have a full year that I can truly dedicate to my business.

These three summer months represent allow me to fully embrace the hustle of entrepreneurship, and I am set for the challenge. Here are some of the things I did in May…

Growing The YouTube Channel

Seeing my channel at a flat 3,050ish subscribers for an entire year was not something I was happy about.

To be quite honest, looking back, I am appalled at how little time I spent growing my channel. The results truly show for themselves…

No sugar coating at all. Part of a monthly performance report is admitting when you mess up. But that was 2018.

2019 I’m going all-in on YouTube. I publish at least one new video every day on my YouTube channel and am in a bunch of Facebook Groups.

Not only did we finally get past 3,100 subscribers (I know people would focus on a number like 3,000…but considering I spent over a year there, 3.1k is the big milestone for me), but we are rapidly moving onward.

Twitter & Instagram Too

YouTube isn’t the only social network I’m focusing on.

Twitter and Instagram are also receiving more of my attention.

With Instagram, I’m working towards 3 posts per day (quote, tweet, and something else) and will build from there.

On Twitter, I’m taking the opposite approach.

While tweeting once every 15 minutes has worked wonders for a long time, that strategy is not what it used to be. I’ve also been tweeting some articles that were outdated because they were in my CSV file.

The new plan for Twitter is to promote my new content full force while still tweeting some of my evergreen content once per hour. That way, I don’t overwhelm people’s Twitter feeds but still give them the value of my evergreen content.

People still don’t spend too much time on Twitter in one sitting and could miss a 4pm tweet if they logged in at 4:05pm. However, data doesn’t lie and tweeting once every 15 minutes isn’t as bountiful as it once was.

Taking this approach will also make scheduling the content much easier. Now I can schedule tweets up to two weeks in advance instead of 2-3 days in advance (you can only have 350 scheduled messages at a time in HootSuite).

I’m also growing on Twitter the manual way. Many Twitter marketers were upset that the company stripped tools like ManageFlitter of their growth capabilities, but I now follow people on Twitter who I believe can benefit from my content.

The pursuit for the 500,000th Twitter followers is still alive 😉

Advanced Affiliate Marketing Summit

We are finalizing the opt-in page for the Advanced Affiliate Marketing Summit. I am super excited about that summit. Some of the affiliate marketing experts who were there during the early stages of my journey will be speakers.

Nothing much to say about this for now other than be ready for June 17-20 🙂

Profitable Public Speaking Podcast

After a few months of planning, the Profitable Public Speaking Podcast is finally out 🙂

A few awesome guests have been on the show so far. I’ve learned a lot about public speaking through this podcast already and will be detailing my journey to 20 stages in 2020 each Thursday.

I got busy towards the end of May (also the reason this report is coming out late), but come late June and I’ll be sharing new episodes each Thursday about my journey and some ways you can get more public speaking opportunities.

In Conclusion

May was a great month. It was the first month in a while of no school. June, July, and August are all clear, and based on what I’ve already done in June, it seems like my productivity and results are going to spike up.

This is the last summer that I will view as a break from school. Next fall is my last semester so 2020 will be a year of full focus on my brand.

April 2019 Performance Report

May 4, 2019 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

By far, the biggest thing that happened to me in April was Breakthrough Success turning into a radio show.

Episodes are now on AM and FM radio stations across the country. Here are some of the places where you can listen to the show…

I am already starting to attract sponsors and sponsored guests for the show, and it could be a big part of my income a few months from now and possibly top my affiliate income.

Here’s the other stuff that happened in April.

Tracking Income And Investments

I have been adamant about tracking my income since leaving the New Media Summit. I had tracked my investments on a spreadsheet and now do the same with my income.

The great thing about my spreadsheets is that if I plug in a number for one source of income, my total income for the month is automatically updated.

BTW: I’m actually thinking about offering my income spreadsheet as a free gift so you can also track your income each month. Let me know if you are interested.

One thing I enjoy is having some reliable income streams that I can count on each month. My membership sites and dividends are my two preferred reliable income streams.

That doesn’t mean I’m saying anything bad about any other income streams. Books and sponsorships also make up a good part of my income, but you have to work on book sales and sponsorships each month.

You always have a guaranteed amount of money you’ll make each month if you keep the same number of members on your membership site or keep all of your stock assuming there are no dividend cuts.

I currently look at both of these spreadsheets every day and track the compounded growth of my dividends. The way my portfolio is set up, my dividend payment increases by 9% annually just from reinvestment (assuming I don’t put in an extra penny and dividend payouts stay the same). I also like to invest in companies that have grown their annual dividend by 10% or more in the past few years.

My goal for dividend investing is to have the option to live off my dividend income within the next 10 years. I’d have to put more money in, but the earlier I put it in, the more power the compound effect will have.

I track these stat more than any other because the bottom line of a business comes down to money. If you don’t make money, you don’t have a business. It’s then just an expensive hobby.

The Advanced Affiliate Marketing Summit

At the beginning of the year, I set the goal of organizing 10 virtual summits. I quickly realized this was a mistake and scrapped most of them so I could focus on this one: The Advanced Affiliate Marketing Summit.

This summit comes out in June and will showcase at least 30 speakers. Affiliate marketing has been a great income stream for me and believe affiliate marketing can be a great income stream for anyone.

I’ll have more details about the summit as we get closer.

I’m Going All-In On Webinars Soon

You can learn many things by paying attention to what others are doing. I was recently part of a webinar Steve Olsher hosted where he helped attendees get booked on podcasts on the spot.

One important thing (for me) about this webinar is that it was on Zoom.

Zoom is where I conduct the majority of my Breakthrough Success interviews, so I am very comfortable with that platform.

Once school ends (less than 1 week from now. I’m in finals mode),  I will upgrade my Zoom account and host more webinars.

Advanced Influencer Mastermind members will get access to many of these webinars, and I’ll do some free webinars for the entire community.

Once my business does well enough with webinars, I will consider setting up an Ever Webinar for an evergreen product. Right now, most of my virtual summits are evergreen so this would be a step in the right direction for my evergreen model.

Online Advertising

One of the biggest myths about online advertising is that you set up the ad once and then just let it ride.

Whether it’s Facebook, Google, or Amazon ads, you need to continue monitoring them to continue making money.

That’s why I’m going to spend more time on those three advertising platforms. I already know Amazon very well and will master Facebook soon. Google Ads are the last one I’ll focus on.

To find this extra time, I’ll delegate more tasks within my brand. Delegating the tasks that produce decent results allows you to focus more on the tasks that produce great results.

In Conclusion

I looked more deeply at my income streams and am going to focus on the ones that show the most promise.

Part of that focus is committing more time to online advertisements and monitoring the ones I already have set up.

March 2019 Performance Report

March 31, 2019 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

March was a very productive month for me. I still feel the high from New Media Summit a month out, and I see it carrying over to the next New Media Summit event.

Basically, I have been amped this whole month in a way like never before. For this performance report, I’ll share some of the BIG changes I’ve made this month and what’s happening for the future.

Virtual Summits

I only have plans for five more virtual summits this year. I know I said I’d go out there and do 10 virtual summits, and while I have done two of them so far, 10 would have been very difficult to pull off.

I opted to cut three from the list to better focus on the remaining five.

I can save future ideas for 2020 but only see myself doing four virtual summits each year at the max. I’d only extend that number if some of the other summits were collaborative.

The New Podcast Is Official

In case you missed my Instagram activity, Justin Schenck was the first person to guess the title for my upcoming podcast.

I am excited to announce that my second podcast will be called…

The Profitable Public Speaking Podcast 🙂

I am super excited about this show and have already booked several guests. The plan is to come out with two episodes each week…Tuesdays and Thursdays.

More Podcasts On The Way…

Regardless of how I do it, I enjoy interviewing people. Each interview allows me to learn more about my niche, grow my audience, and attract more customers to my products.

One of the reasons I scaled down on virtual summits (granted, I still aim to do at least 4 of them in 2020 even with the traveling I plan on doing) is to make room for additional podcasts.

I am going to see how the Profitable Public Speaking Podcast goes to determine the frequency of new podcast launches. Right now I have three additional podcast ideas I’m considering and know which one I’d pick first.

I like the idea of interviewing at least 10 people each week. It’s something I could never do with Breakthrough Success alone, but more podcasts creates that possibility even after a summit launch.

My Special Funnel Service

The Profitable Public Speaking Podcast was 100% inspired by the New Media Summit. My new funnel service (and most of what I mention from here forward) falls in the same category.

During my time at the New Media Summit, I talked with a few people who used ClickFunnels.

ClickFunnels was something I briefly tried before but gave up on because I was satisfied with OptimizePress. However, attending the event encouraged me to give ClickFunnels a second look, and I couldn’t be happier.

Basically, ClickFunnels lets you easily create the funnels and have all of the pages talk to each other. Even though OptimizePress makes this easier than most options, it’s still cumbersome compared to ClickFunnels.

Less time working on the tech end and more time growing the business.

So this is where my special funnel service comes in. If you do not have a ClickFunnels account, I will create your entire funnel for you and include the swipe copy as a bonus. However, you must join ClickFunnels through my link to get this free service.

You can email me marc@marcguberti.com or let me know in the comments if you’re interested in the free funnel.

I plan on charging thousands of dollars for this service in the future, but right now, I see this as a win-win because more people get on ClickFunnels and I make an affiliate commission for each person I create a funnel for.

Biggest Game Changers: Action Sheets + Income Tracking

The two biggest game changers I attribute to my experience from the New Media Summit are my Action Sheets and Income Tracking.

We’ll start by getting income out of the way since it’s not one I cover in Performance Reports.

My preference isn’t to share any numbers, but I will share how I track my income.

I have a Numbers spreadsheet that lists all of the main ways I generate income for my brand. Then, I set goals for what each of those should look like by the end of the month.

Below that spreadsheet is an additional one that shows actual results. This allows me to compare and see which months I over perform and which months weren’t as good. I can track my performance based on the bottom line, profit (I also track expenses), and individual segments within my brand.

The other big game changer is the Action Sheets that I now use every day. I currently have five Action Sheets that cover the following:

  • Creation
  • Post-Production
  • Promotion
  • Outreach
  • Self-Education

I use these Action Sheets to create weekly goals and identify which dates I need to be doing what.

The biggest reason people don’t make it is because they don’t get clear and organized on what they need to be doing.

New Book: The Wealthy Author

If you’ve been following me on social media or on my email list, you might have heard about this book at least once.

The Wealthy Author helps readers make their books work for them and earn passive income.

True to the premise of the book, I went out and marketed it so it would earn me passive income over the long-term.

Right now I have multiple sales coming in each day and will continue building the momentum with Amazon Ads.

Over 100 people got their copy of The Wealthy Author during the preorder campaign and we hit several new release and bestseller lists.

I honestly didn’t plan for the preorder to be as good as it was. My book briefly had an Amazon Ranking under 5000, and I know it would probably be better if I approached it like an all-out launch.

However, I just saw The Wealthy Author as something that could generate passive income over the long-term, so I didn’t think about going that in-depth for the initial launch.

Now seeing what I did with The Wealthy Author, I now see the potential for what could happen if I even get a few authors involved with the book launch.

For Write And Grow Rich which I co-wrote with 23 other authors, I saw the full power of a book launch team. The book sold thousands of copies and became a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller.

I didn’t want to go that deep with The Wealthy Author and may not do a book launch on the scale of Write And Grow Rich for a while.

However, I plan on publish a book every 4-6 weeks which gives me ample opportunities to share new books with my community and reach more readers.

In Conclusion

I have repeatedly mentioned the New Media Summit throughout my Performance Report. If you go to the right events, they can dramatically transform your business.

In my case, I get more clarity, but I also created systems that allowed me to preserve my sense of clarity.

February 2019 Performance Report

March 7, 2019 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

We are two months into 2019 and the momentum is still strong. February was a great month for me that gave me an idea of what’s possible when I graduate college. Here’s a recap of that month…

My First Virtual Summit Of 2019 Was A Success

The Profitable Podcasting Summit was a big success. 20+ speakers shared their top strategies for growing and monetizing your podcast.

We already rolled out the evergreen version, so if you missed it the first time, you can claim your free ticket to the summit here.

I have the ever greening process dialed down which will help me attract more speakers for past summits and promote the evergreen versions of past summits sooner.

We’ve still got 9 more summits left for 2019. The Biz Blog Summit kicks off in a few days, and after an April summit launch, I’ll have a two month gap before the next one.

That two month gap will be critical as I’ll be reaching out to speakers for the rest of the summits. I’d rather be far ahead with my summit sessions than scrambling at the last second.

I learned that lesson with the Content Marketing Success Summit. Although it was my best summit, I conducted 33 interviews for that summit in the final two weeks leading up to the initial launch.

I Was An Icon Of Influence At The New Media Summit

This event was a game changer for me and showed me what’s possible in 2019. For those of you who don’t know, the New Media Summit is an event where attendees pitch podcasters and get booked on the spot.

As an Icon of Influence, I heard the attendees’ pitches and booked many of them on the spot. With that said, a few awesome things happened at my first New Media Summit…

  1. I booked around 40 guests for Breakthrough Success at the New Media Summit. That’s over 3 months of content, and since not everyone is scheduling their interview at the same time, I can still do some outreach to some of my role models who I want on the show.
  2. I felt inspired to launch a second podcast. What is that podcast going to be about? I already know, and if you guess the name of the podcast, I’ll give you a free copy of my Podcast Domination book. See this Instagram post for a clue.
  3. There was an Icon exclusive mastermind the day after the New Media Summit. My goals were bumped higher and I learned a lot from that mastermind. To me, that mastermind was more valuable than all of the training courses I have ever taken combined.

Catching Up With Stuff

While I loved the New Media Summit and am eager to return for their September event, I worked on some catch up towards the end of the month.

The biggest areas I needed to catch up on were my upcoming virtual summits and mastermind. I came up with ways to massively improve the mastermind that will soon drive the price up from $47/mo to $97/mo. If you want to join the mastermind while it’s still $47/mo, shoot me an email marc@marcguberti.com

While I plan on conducting 10 virtual summits in 2019, I realized that it’s not sustainable moving into future years. I’ll have no problem pulling it off this year, but as my public speaking career expands, I’ll have less time to work on each virtual summit.

The good part about that is that in 2020, I’ll have 13 evergreen virtual summits. At that point, I can introduce new speakers for those summits and promote them on occasion. I will still do plenty of virtual summits in 2020 (i.e. at least one per quarter), but this will probably be the only year I commit to 10 virtual summits in 2019 unless I get involved in some collaborations.

I was also busy catching up with emails, but I’m always catching up with those 😉

My Public Speaking Career

This is the biggest inspiration I walked out with after the New Media Summit. I’ve always had the goal of going on some kind of public speaking tour the moment I graduate college.

I was already doing my research and preparing for 2020 since that’s when I graduate.

But then I asked myself, “Why not 2019?”

The big issue with an all-out 2019 public speaking campaign is that if I miss enough classes, I’d automatically fail them. That’s why 2020 had the bigger emphasis, but I’m looking for more 2019 opportunities, especially ones in the summer.

I already have an event locked down for April and possible 2-3 events in June. For events I can’t speak at (i.e. they start in less than a month or are during the school year), I am writing down a list of events for me to reach out to before 2020.

I’m doing all of the outreach and relationship building now so I am better set up for a ton of public speaking in 2020.

In my opinion, it is not farfetched for me to speak on over 30 stages in 2020. I am working on that goal now because I know if I actually start working on it in 2020 my chances are greatly reduced.

If you know someone organizing an event or are an event organizer, please let me know. I want to impact as many attendees as I possibly can.

We’ll have to see how I balance podcast and summit interviews, but I know it will be done 😉

In Conclusion

I am still a bit in the catch up phase and this Performance Report was certainly a part of it.

One of my goals for March is to be ahead of schedule again. While I’ve done a solid job at this with Breakthrough Success, I need to get better in this area for the rest of my business.

For me to speak at 30 events each year, it would easily be a 90-100 day commitment since almost no event is a “leave the same day you get there” kind of event.

That means I need to get further ahead with my content production and marketing. Practicing this skill now will ensure I have it ready when I need it for 2020.

January 2019 Performance Report

February 4, 2019 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

This month was all about setting the framework for 2019. While I’ve set a bunch of big goals in 2019, the biggest goal and one I’m the most adamant about is hosting 10 virtual summits in 2019.

I am at a point where I can prepare for a virtual summit 1-2 months in advance and make it an incredible experience. This is because I’ve already hosted three virtual summits and each of my future summits will only showcase 20+ speakers instead of the usual 50+ speakers.

The 10 Virtual Summits

They’re all going to happen. The first summit, Profitable Podcasting Summit, takes place at the start of February. I have all of the speakers and backend lined up.

The goal for that summit and future ones is to get at least 1,000 attendees and get even more attendees from the evergreen promotion.

The great part about my summit set-up is that I use the same few pages for the entire backend. This makes it easy for me to copy existing templates and cut down on the amount of work it takes to set everything up.

I currently have virtual summits slated for the following dates:

  • February 5-8, 2019
  • March 4-7, 2019
  • April 8-11, 2019
  • June 17-20, 2019
  • July 16-19, 2019
  • August 19-22, 2019
  • September 23-26, 2019
  • October 14-17, 2019
  • November 4-11, 2019
  • December 9-12, 2019

No virtual summits are scheduled for May 2019 because that’s the launch for my Content Marketing Plaza. I am going all-out on that program.

Right now I am beginning to plan for the next three virtual summits. Since I’m back in school (although, a much less packed schedule than the previous semester), it’s not as easy to invest as much time as I did during the winter break. That’s why I am planning for all three of them now instead of waiting until a month before for all three of them.

Delegation

Many people ask me how I find the time to do what I do. The answer is a combination of work ethic and delegation. I recognize that hosting 10 virtual summits will be easier if I delegate more tasks. That’s why I’m setting the goal to delegate at least one new task per month.

Right now I delegate social media posts and outreach for my books. The next task I delegate will be related to virtual summits or a task that takes a considerable amount of time on my end.

But by delegating one task each month, it will open more doors for me. Furthermore, delegating one new task each month allows me to ease into more spending than if I decided to delegate most of my business overnight.

Breakthrough Success Sponsors

I am going to be very careful with this. Sponsorships are great for massive podcasts to bring in massive returns. For smaller and medium sized podcasts, the path to sponsorships is more challenging.

However, I have found a way to attract sponsors to the show.

People often reach out and ask for a link placement on this blog. I almost never provide these link placements because they are somewhat related to my business but not a perfect fit for most blog posts.

These same businesses work better for Breakthrough Success than for this blog. While this blog is heavily focused on digital marketing, Breakthrough Success explores marketing, personal development, some finance, and a few other topics depending on the episode.

I’ve experimented with telling people that they can be a sponsor on Breakthrough Success and get their link in the show notes on my blog. So far I have a few people who are interested.

I’ll test this out and see what happens. The goal is to boost revenue from the podcast while still providing a great experience for listeners. Sponsorships can become a big stream of revenue, but I’m not going to stuff my episodes with ads either because that wouldn’t be fun to listen to.

It’s a delicate balance, but one that I believe may pay off. We’ll see what happens.

Coaching And The Mastermind

Starting in 2019, I began asking myself this question before starting a new project:

“Will this allow me to make recurring income?”

More of my launches are going to focus on my coaching and mastermind. The Advanced Influencer Mastermind comes to $47/mo after the 30 day free trial.

If you want to know the price of my coaching, shoot me an email marc@marcguberti.com and we’ll schedule a call to talk about what you want from the experience.

I’m focusing on recurring income because I noticed that my income would spike when I launched a virtual summit or promoted an affiliate product that performed very well…

…only to not make that same income the following month.

This is one of the reasons I decided to host 10 virtual summits in 2019. Hosting a virtual summit each month leads to more revenue. Making more revenue allows me to spread my message, reach more people, and spend more of my money on good causes (something I will work harder on in 2019).

Plus, I promote offers during the virtual summit that allow me to make recurring revenue (i.e. the coaching and mastermind).

The reason I’m focusing on recurring income is because how much easier and reliable it is. As I mentioned earlier, the Advanced Influencer Mastermind comes to $47/mo after the 30 day free trial. $47 happens to be the same price of most of my Early Bird All-Access Passes.

For the All-Access Passes, I need roughly 177 sales each month to make 6-figures.

Hitting that number gets easier with multiple evergreen summits and the fact that I’m hosting 10 virtual summits in 2019.

But for the mastermind, I need roughly 177 members to make 6-figures.

That means, even if I get 177 members and never get an extra member for the rest of my life (and the same 177 stay signed up), I make 6-figures.

One scenario requires 2,127 sales each year, and you’ll have to hit that same number next year just to make the same amount of revenue.

The other scenario just involves 177 members, and each time you add a member, you increase your annual income, guaranteed (as long as each member sticks around).

In Conclusion

My themes of 2019 are increased joint ventures and recurring income. Honing in on those two key areas will help me accomplish all of the major goals I set for myself in 2019.

If I have to drop all of my non-related business related goals to accomplish my goals for joint ventures and recurring income, I will not hesitate to do so.

Those two themes are so important for any business, and they are my priorities for 2019.
