Counting Down

Is your business going to be around for 10 years soon? WordPress recently celebrated its 10th year of service, and if there is an important event occurring, you should create a count down for that event. Count the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the special day is reached.

By counting down, you can recollect all you accomplished while working on what you are going to be celebrating. Count down to that special day and constantly remind yourself of all of the things you were able to accomplish within a short amount of time.

I’ll be doing a countdown for my last end term which is June 6, and then there’s 3 months of no school.

The Captain Of The Battleship

Battleships are getting more and more advanced as we know it, but everything we know about the battleship still remains the same. There is always a captain who is supposed to know the ocean very well. If the captain doesn’t know the ocean, he risks losing the entire battleship.

Captains make all of the orders that are necessary to keep the battleship on course. If those orders aren’t executed properly, there could be dire consequences. A battleship lost in sea is a battleship destined to be forgotten about.

The captain has the most authority and power on the battleship. However, the crew are the ones who carry out the captain’s orders. Without the crew, the battleship cannot function properly. One crew member can sabotage the entire course of a battleship.

A captain who does not get along with his crew could possibly get mutinized. Even if the captain finds a new river and names it after himself, he is still in risk of mutiny if he does not get along with his crew.

The captain cannot make the battleship function properly. Instead, it is the crew who gets orders from the captain that allow the battleship to function properly. The captain and crew cannot live without each other. The captain has his expertise of the ocean and can effectively give out orders to the crew. However, the captain cannot do the work of a hundred men which is why he needs the crew.

Doing Something Twice

You can do the same thing two times, but nothing gets accomplished if you don’t learn new tricks from the first time. The first time you do something is similar to an experiment. As you do the same thing over and over again for your business, you should be able to know the outcome.

You should also develop more skills in making the second product better than the first product. We all do something twice, or even more than that, but we only learn a lesson if we are able to do better the second time, and the third time, and so on.

The Crows

There are many eagles that fly in the sky, but there are often crows flying right beside the eagles. The crows can fly just like the eagles, and the crows mock the eagles. However, the eagles are able to fly higher than the crows will ever be able to fly.

The crow spends its time mocking the creatures that it is inferior to, and when the superior creatures show why they are superior, the crows will not try to do better. The crows cannot be successful unless they make a big change.

Who Turned Off The Lights?

There is always someone who turns off the lights on an idea. As more ideas get formulated, decisions have to be made about which ideas to stay with. The other ideas get extinguished.

Ideas will be suggested while other ideas will be rejected. It is important not to constantly turn off the lights on new ideas because you want to work on old ones. Old dogs can learn new tricks, and you can implement new ideas with your old ideas at the same time.

Don’t always be turning off the lights on new ideas, and tell other people when they are the ones turning off the lights for new ideas. If a business can’t be innovative and still keep its old ideas at the same time, then it’s lights out.

The Hare And The Tortoise: A Story Of Focus

The Hare And The Tortoise story isn’t about speed. It’s about focus. The hare is much faster than the tortoise, but the hare loses focus of its task. The hare decides to take a nap. Then the tortoise slowly walks past the hare and wins the race.

In business, it is important to be consistent. Although the tortoise goes slow, the tortoise is consistently focused on achieving its goal–winning the race. You shouldn’t go as slow as the tortoise, but you should be consistently focused on achieving your goals.

The hare is a representation of the unsteady business person. The hare gets a really great start, but as the race progresses, the hare decides to sleep. The hare sleeping could easily relate to someone who decides to procrastinate.

The tortoise is a representation of the business person who constantly delivers. This person does not get the great start but ends up being better than the person who got the great start.

As procrastination builds, less gets done. If you are consistently productive, you will move past the sleeping hare. Then, the hare wakes up and tries to catch up, but alas, it’s too late. The tortoise just crossed the finish line.
