There is always going to be a person who has more Twitter followers than you (unless you’re Justin Bieber). Even the people with over 10,000 followers may not be satisfied that their competition has over 100,000 followers.
Having 10,000 followers is a great accomplishment (if the followers are real). There are two attitudes that the person with 10,000 followers can have:
- Be happy and interact with their followers.
- Look more at the guy with 100,000 followers than their 10,000 followers.
The first choice is the best because the person with 10,000 followers is grateful. This person will talk with their followers, and this person will gradually get more followers as well.
The second choice is not the path that you want to take. It is good to set goals such as getting 100,000 followers, but don’t look at the other people who already have 100,000 followers. By looking at people with the 100,000 followers, the other 10,000 people will be seen as insufficient. The person with 10,000 followers will not interact with their followers. Instead, they will simply tweet out more content and follow more people until they have 100,000 followers. Once they finally get 100,000 followers, they will see someone with 200,000 followers. The quest to get more followers, tweet out more content, and avoid interaction continues.
It is great to see goals, but don’t get greedy. Greed leads to envy which turns you away from what you already have.
