I’m sure you have seen a commercial of a movie in theaters. There are so many of these commercials claiming the same thing: that their movie is the Number 1 movie in America. The key word is their. The critics who only give the movie 1 star won’t be seen. The critics who give the movie a 5 out of 5 will be shown. All of the retail stores sell the perfect products that everyone loves…according to the commercial.
The Red Sox fan who says the Red Sox are better than the Yankees is showing bias because he or she is a Red Sox fan. The person telling everyone how great their book is could be the author.
If you are deciding whether or not to buy a product, never ask the retail store. If you are deciding whether or not to buy a book, don’t ask the author. They will not be able to give you an honest review. The author will never say their book is bad and the retail store will never tell you to go to another one. Targets isn’t telling everyone to go to Walmart, and Walmart isn’t telling everyone to go to Target.
Make sure you know who is talking or who is giving the description. A customer is the best source for a product because they make no money with their opinion. The customer already spent money on the product. If the product is really good, the customer will find a way to give that product a good review. If that product is really bad, the customer will surely find a way to give that product a bad review.
