The Only Thing Just As Good As Innovation

March 16, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

innovationbulb

How could there possibly be anything just as good as innovation? That’s what I thought, but sure enough, Seth Godin had the answer in his book, Free Prize Inside. In a world that has been raised to believe that big innovations are the key to success, we forget that small changes resulted in the successes of many companies. We also forget that small changes are just as good as innovation.

Getting rid of a problem is just as good as introducing an innovation. While continuing with new ideas, it is important to pay attention to the problems with your products already out there. One of the problems may be that people cannot contact each other on a membership site. Before creating a training course, you should add a forum to the membership site. The forum solves the problem of members not being able to communicate to each other. In addition, the forum makes the product better.

There are many people who are focused on the growth and expansion of their companies. These people forget about fixing the problems too often, and when problems do not get fixed, they eventually create an outcry. There was an outcry when the public learned that a disgusting pink slime was used to make McNuggets and that Subway’s “fresh” bread included a material that is used to make yoga mats and shoe soles. These outcries forced change, and until the change was made (change in this case most likely means a blue slime or the material that makes car tires), the outcry continued. By making the changes, these fast food restaurants were able to get their customers back.

We are constantly focused on creating new products and making new innovations that people will love. While we create new products and make innovations, it is also important to fix the problems in existing products. Fixing existing problems will result in a better customer experience and more sales.

20 Thoughts To Live By

March 16, 2014 by Marc Guberti 12 Comments

We always need motivation in order to get the challenging goals accomplished. Having the right mindset is an important factor towards channeling motivation into productivity. The mindset affects how you view goals and the work you need to do to accomplish them. In order to develop a stronger mindset, you need to live by these 20 thoughts.

  1. The grass may be greener on the other side, but instead of switching over, you can make your side greener.
  2. A goal that is 99% complete is a goal that is 1% incomplete.
  3. The more practice we put in, the better we do on game day.
  4. Leaders get to where they are by making it happen, not watching it happen.
  5. The only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves.
  6. We are able to do more if we believe we can do more.
  7. Success comes as a result of taking action.
  8. The only bad mistakes are the ones we do not learn from.
  9. It’s better to make a choice than it is to ponder on the choice for years.
  10. Quit on the things you do not want to do so you can focus on what you are good at.
  11. One person can do so much. Many people can do more.
  12. No one became successful in 1 day. It took many years to build Rome.
  13. Power comes from within the individual, not from someone else.
  14. Be better than you are expected to be.
  15. Putting in the work will allow you to become what you want to become.
  16. We do not need more. We need to start.
  17. 99 is a big number. It can either represent your problems or your successes.
  18. Each struggle you go through gets you closer to success.
  19. We all have great potential. We just need to unlock it.
  20. All of the hard work you put in pans out one way or another.

Which one was your favorite? Do you have any others to add? Please share your thoughts and insights below.

Free Prize Inside: The Strategy That (Almost) Never Fails

March 15, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

The only way this plan will fail is if it does not get implemented correctly. Free prize inside is just that: a bonus. The bonus is the added incentive to buy something or subscribe to a blog. Bonus chapters encourage us to buy the same book a second time. A free report encourages us to subscribe to someone’s blog.

People are looking for more ways to gain good attention in growing niches. In order to get more attention, you need to offer a free prize. When there were “Buy Two and Get One For Free” sales at the nearby toy store, I would be at the toy store that day. The thought of getting three products for the price of two encouraged me (and many others) to buy products from these toy stores. These sales were rare which only encouraged more people to get in on the action.

Imagine if you had a free product. Instead of getting a giant boost in sales and then going back to normal, the amount of sales you make can be consistent…and consistently growing. Offering a free prize will give your business more attention. As your business gets more attention, word of mouth will allow your business to spread.

10 Ways To Get More Twitter Followers

March 15, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Having a lot of Twitter followers has many benefits. More Twitter followers makes you look like an expert. All you have to do is have tweets that make you look like an expert, and then you are an expert. More Twitter followers can also result in stronger connections and more traffic to your blog. These are 10 ways to get more followers on Twitter.

  1. Follow others. We all envision the world where we have 100,000 followers but are only following 100 people. However, there are not enough people who know about your Twitter account yet. In order to get more people to know about you, you need to follow others so they have a good reason to follow you back.
  2. Be active on Twitter. People will not follow users who have not tweeted for more than a month. You need to be tweeting every day in order to get a stronger following on Twitter.
  3. Get more engagement with your followers. After you get followers, you need to engage with the followers that you do have.
  4. Get more retweets. When you get retweets, your name gets out there in a positive way. Here are 11 Ways To Get More Retweets On Twitter.
  5. Have a blog. Having a blog is very important towards getting more followers on Twitter. If people see a link to your blog in your bio, they are more likely to follow you.
  6. Tweet quality content. If you want to get more followers, you need to tweet quality content. You need to give people a reason to follow you on Twitter, and sending out quality tweets will give people a very strong reason to follow you.
  7. Have a picture of you for your avatar. Eggs and animals are not good enough for your bio page. Having a picture of you is critical towards getting more followers on Twitter. The picture of you will make someone trust you more than having a picture of an egg or animal (that shows inexperience).
  8. Promote your Twitter account on your blog. I have multiple widgets on my blog that promote my Twitter account. Even when you have thousands of followers on Twitter, continue to promote your Twitter account on your blog. People need to know that you are influential in order to trust you.
  9. Use HARO to get out there. HARO is a great way to get free PR. There are many categories for HARO, and big media outlets such as Forbes, ABC, and Huffington Post use HARO. I used HARO to get on the U.S. News money section.
  10. Guest blog frequently. I recommend guest blogging once every week. When you are guest blogging, be sure to have a link to your Twitter account in your profile to get more followers.

Those are 10 ways to get more followers on Twitter. Do you have any additional tips for getting more followers on Twitter? Please share your thoughts and tips below.

How To Make Better Use Of The Time You Have

March 14, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Time management is something that we all seek. We understand that time is our most valuable resource, but allocating that time properly has become more of a challenge. When it comes to utilizing time, it is important to identify how we are already utilizing the time that we have. You may be spending 30 minutes on Twitter every day. How you spend those 30 minutes depends on how productive you are. Spending 30 minutes on Twitter looking at the trending topics is not as productive as 30 minutes on Twitter connecting with your followers and following targeted users.

Some people are spending the same amount of time you are, but by making some small changes, these people are able to get more done. For a blogger, writing 5 blog posts in 30 minutes is more productive than doing typing speed tests for 30 minutes. There are too many people who complain about all of the goals that are not getting done. The simple fix may be to utilize the time you have dedicated to your goals differently.

There are many solutions to getting better time management such as using score cards and following these tips. However, getting better time management all comes down to how you are utilizing the time you already have. 30 minutes of watching is not as productive as 30 minutes of doing. Making better time with what you have starts by focusing on the time you are already using.

Well-Rounded Gave Its Crown To Specialization A Long Time Ago

March 14, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

There are two entrepreneurs. One entrepreneur is well-rounded. The other entrepreneur specializes in one thing. Which of these two entrepreneurs is more likely to become successful?

The second entrepreneur is more likely to become successful. There are more specialized people that are easier to connect with than ever before. One person offers general advice about social media. There is also someone who specializes in Twitter marketing while there is another person who specializes in getting more engagement from Facebook fans.

The more you specialize, the smaller you make your target audience. Making a target audience may sound like something bad, but the smaller the better. A small target audience does not encounter as many distractions that take them away from your business as a large audience. A small audience of people primarily interested in Twitter will pay more attention to you than an audience interested in social media. An audience interested in social media may decide to look at the person offering consultations about Facebook. On the other hand, the people interested in Twitter will only focus on consultations about Twitter. If you offer consultations about Twitter, your targeted followers will have a stronger reason to use your services if they are only interested in Twitter than if they are interested in social media.

Well-rounded is no longer an option. There are countless people offering specialized services. Well-rounded is ordinary. Specialization is extraordinary.
