10 Ways To Get More Blog Traffic

June 27, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

increase blog traffic

Your blog is your home on the web that allows people to know about your products and content. There are millions of blogs on the web, and a new blog gets created every half second. However, most of these blogs do not get enough visitors to generate revenue and connections. The key to being successful as a blogger is to be able to get a lot of traffic. After you consistently get hundreds of visitors every day, your methods of making money with your blog will generate more revenue. Then, as you test other options, you will be able to identify the methods that lead to the biggest income. However, in order to get to that point, people need to know about you, and you need to increase your blog’s traffic. Here are 10 ways to do that.

  1. Utilize your social networks. The best way to get more traffic than your blog is to use your social networks. As you grow your audience on your social networks, you will get more engagement and clicks. Suddenly, you will go from getting 10 extra visitors every day from your social networks to getting hundreds of extra visitors every day from the same social networks–but with larger audiences.
  2. Make it harder for people to leave your blog. By making it harder for people to leave your blog, your blog will have a lower bounce rate. In order to make it harder for people to leave your blog, include links to older but related blog posts in your new ones. If you make it harder for someone to leave your blog, and that person likes the content on your blog, then that person is more than likely going to be a returning visitor and a subscriber later on.
  3. Become a guest blogger. Guest blogging no longer has a strong impact on SEO, but it is still a great way to get more people to know about you. As a guest blogger, you have the ability to put your content in front of a larger audience. Some people in that audience who like your guest post will decide to visit your blog.
  4. Interview other people on your blog. When you interview someone on your blog, that person will be very likely to send out a tweet about your blog. As a result, you get more of that person’s audience to visit your blog. When you interview other people, be sure to choose the top people in your niche who have the largest audiences.
  5. Get interviewed by other people. Have a page on your blog with contact information that allows your visitors to schedule an interview with you. This interview will get posted on someone else’s blog which allows you to reach a larger audience. These interviews will also give you a way to get more backlinks for your blog.
  6. Become a public speaker. One of the easiest ways to get everyone to pay attention to you is by being an effective public speaker. Speaking at events will allow you to build stronger connections, and get more visitors. Almost everyone in attendance will visit your blog at least once, but if you do a good job, some of the people who attended will want to subscribe to your blog and buy your products.
  7. Engage with your targeted followers. An easy way to get more visitors is to engage with targeted people who would enjoy your blog. As a conversation develops, these people will become curious and take a look at your bio. Then, these people will notice the link to your blog and click on it. You just got another visitor!
  8. Use Squidoo. Squidoo is a fun platform to use to get more traffic for your blog. The community there is very kind, and I learn a lot from them (before the Squidoo community, I didn’t even know what SEO stood for). Squidoo will allow you to get more backlinks for your blog, and you can even include a widget on a lens (that’s what they call their webpages) that promotes your blog.
  9. Keep your content focused. One common mistake that prevents blogs from becoming popular is that the blogger writes about a variety of things. Instead of writing about everything you like from A to Z, only write about something that you know the most about and can share valuable information about that topic.
  10. Write content that people would want to share. If you are able to get your content to spread all across the social networks on the web, your content will be able to reach more audiences–big or small. In addition, the people who shared your content will be very likely to share more of your content in the future.

By getting more visitors, you have the potential to grow your email list and get more sales. The most successful blogs that bring in a lot of revenue also happen to be the most popular ones. Although there are several things you would need to do to optimize your blog, mastering traffic will allow you to get better results every month. What are your thoughts on the list? Do you have any additional tips? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

52% Of This Blog’s Traffic Came From Social Media For Three Months

June 25, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

social media traffic

Last May was a really good month for this blog. It surpassed 80,000 all-time views and just missed getting 20,000 views for the month (it was less than 500 views away). As I got closer to 100,000 all-time views, I decided to dig into the statistics for my blog to see my strengths and where I could improve. As I expected, Twitter was by far my biggest source of traffic for the past three months at 23,389 views from March 3, 2014 to May 3, 2014. Search engines were far behind at only 8,045 views in the same amount of time while nothing else even compared (none of the other methods of gaining traffic went over 1,000 views during this time). Pinterest was my third biggest source of traffic with 705 views during this time.

Since I had big numbers to play with, I decided to do number crunching calculations. Throughout the time frame, this blog generated 47,742 views. I added all of the traffic from different social networks and identified that this blog got 24,681 views which means for the past three months, 52% of this blog’s traffic came from social media. At this same time, only 17% of this blog’s traffic came from search engines.

This is another testimony that proves growing your presence on social networks is more important than SEO. While they are both important, some people focus most of their time on SEO without giving a thought about how social networks can result in more traffic. As my traffic numbers from social networks increased, I also noticed an increase in this blog’s search engine traffic.

In May, 20% of my blog’s traffic came from search engines. That does not mean my traffic from my social networks went down. That means the traffic I gained from search engines significantly increased. As a grew my presence on my social networks, the traffic I gained from search engines grew at a faster rate.

If you are wondering whether you should be using social networks to increase your blog traffic, the answer is that you must do so. Social media is one of the best ways to grow your presence, get more traffic, get more subscribers, and as connections become stronger, get more sales in the process. What are your thoughts on using social media to get more traffic? What are your thoughts on SEO? Please share your thoughts below.

The 7 Laws Of Social Media Marketing

June 14, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is one of the most important ways to grow your business. Social media allows you to build connections that last for a long period of time, and marketing your products and blog posts on a powerful platform will allow you to get more traffic. The only way to be successful with social media marketing is by knowing what tactics must be followed. These are the Seven Laws Of Social Media Marketing:

  1. Provide quality content. You can spend $100,000 on advertising, but in the end, quality content is what makes people stick around. You may get a big spike in traffic in the beginning, but that traffic will go on a rapid decline if the content you lead your visitors to is bad.
  2. Be patient. It’s easily to get discouraged with only 100 followers. However, by being patient and constantly learning, you will eventually grow your following dramatically. There was a point when I had 0 followers on Twitter, and there was a point when I was stuck at 1,667 followers for several months. By being patient, I ended up discovering a method which I now use to gain 500 followers every day. In addition, the only reason this blog is successful is because of my Twitter account. Then, everything else (SEO, better content, etc) came into place.
  3. Optimize your blog. This one is a must (but then again, they all are). Once you get visitors, throwing away that traffic would be such a shame. This is the part that many people forget, and as a result, they throw away the traffic they get. Boost the chances of having someone subscribe to your blog by creating a blog that is designed to have a very low bounce rate.
  4. Have a clear message. Your message determines who your targeted audience is. Make your message clear by focusing on specific niches instead of having an unclear message with too much clutter. It is better to focus on 1 niche than it is to give some of your attention to 10 things you are interested in and make that your message.
  5. Listen to others. One of the qualities of leaders is to listen before speaking. Take the time to read your followers’ tweets before you respond to them. In addition, listen to people’s problems concerning your niche. What are certain aspects of your niche that give people the hardest time? Listening will help you identify the answer to that question and give you an idea for your next product.
  6. Include a free prize. The more free prizes you have, the better. Include a free prize in your social media marketing strategy so you get more likes, retweets, repins, or any other social media metric that you want. You can also include a free prize on your blog so more people who go to your blog from social networks are likely to become subscribers.
  7. Post content more often on your social networks. Going from tweeting once every hour to tweeting once every 30 minutes did me a lot of good. Going on to send out one tweet every 20 minutes yielded better results. Part of social media marketing is getting seen by as many people as possible. By scheduling posts (which allows you to post consistently), more people will be able to see your posts. In addition, send out posts when most of your followers are online. Facebook has its own statistics for Facebook Pages that allow you to see this while you can use Tweriod to see when people are on Twitter.

In order to get the best results from social media marketing, you need to follow these rules. Although they do not guarantee overnight results, performing these actions will allow you to see a dramatic increase in traffic and conversions over time. What are your thoughts on these social media marketing laws and do you have any other tips you would like to share? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

Why Social Media Is Not Overrated

June 5, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Social Media Promotion

In an earlier blog post, I mentioned that 100 subscribers will get you much further than 100 followers. I also went into detail about why social media buttons on a blog are overrated. Does that mean social media is overrated? Not at all. I’ve written too many blog posts about social media, and the last thing I want to hear is that it’s overrated 🙂

Social Media is the most powerful tool out there to allow more people to know about your presence on the web. Most of my blog’s traffic comes from social networks (Twitter in particular), and most of my blog’s success is because of my social networks. As my social media traffic rose, my search engine traffic rose as well. It’s not a coincidence.

Here’s the point where some people will wonder why they can’t make their social media buttons as big as they want on their blogs. If you are optimizing your social networks properly, chances are that most of the people who are visiting your blog are already following you on one of your social networks. Instead of telling people about your other social networks, you can create a page that displays all of your social networks. When someone is on your home page, you need them to subscribe to your blog.

The entire point of social media is to allow you to get more traffic. When you get that traffic, you need to design your blog in a way that gives you an extra connection with your visitor. Buttons that allow people to follow you without leaving your blog or opening up a new tab is a great start. Having a big subscription box that pushes everything else to the bottom of your sidebar is another great way to get subscribers.

Once someone visits your blog from a social networks, what happens next? That is what will allow you to see the best impact on your blog’s numbers because of social media.

11 Ways To Boost Your Klout Score

June 4, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Klout score

Your Klout Score allows other people to know how influential you are on social networks. Since raising a Klout Score seems impossible, it is very easy to appreciate the people who have high Klout Scores. In addition, the people with higher Klout scores get more opportunities. The people who have a Klout Score of 80 get more public speaking opportunities than the people who have a Klout Score of 60. If they both wrote social media books, chances are the customer will buy the book from the person with the Klout Score of 80. Some jobs use Klout Score as a deciding factor of whether someone gets hired or not. Basically, your Klout Score is super important, and if you want to raise that Klout Score (highly recommended for anyone), here are 11 tips.

  1. Connect more social networks to your Klout account. The more social networks you connect to Klout, the higher your score goes up. Your influence is not an average of your social networks. It is an accumulation of your social networks.
  2. Interact with your followers. If you do not have a lot of conversations with your followers, don’t wait for someone to start the conversation. You need to start the conversations you have with your followers. That way, more of these people will interact with you and possibly favorite/retweet your tweets.
  3. Post content that people would want to share. The amount of times your content gets shared has a big impact on how high your Klout score goes. Instead of posting random content that few people would want to share, only post the type of content that you know your targeted followers would share.
  4. Post content more frequently. If you send out a tweet at 3 pm, and your followers go on Twitter at 3:05 pm, then you’re out of luck. By posting content more frequently, more of your followers will be able to see your tweets. This will also boost your chances of getting a retweet.
  5. Post more pictures. Pictures have been proven to increase interaction on social networks. Some of the pictures you post may get shared five times more than your posts without pictures.
  6. Use Twitter’s new design to pin one of your tweets to the top of your profile page. Have you ever had the tweet that got retweeted 20 times, but as you tweet more often, the tweet that once got 20 retweets was then forgotten? Twitter’s new design allows you to pin one of your tweets at the top of your profile. Even if you sent out a tweet a few years ago that got over 20 retweets, you can bring that tweet back to the top of your profile to keep it current.
  7. Interact with your friends on Facebook. Not only will your friends like to talk with you on Facebook, but that also boosts your Klout Score. Friends will also be very likely to like your pictures.
  8. Be omnipresent on all social networks. Remember that Klout calculates your score as an accumulation of your social networks. The more active you are on them, the more impact each of your social networks has on your Klout Score.
  9. Share other people’s content. When you share someone else’s content, your followers will realize that the content you shared is really good (since it’s not your own and you were willing to share it).
  10. Retweet, favorite, like, and share other people’s posts. These people will either return the favor or interact with you.
  11. Look at your Klout Score statistics. Your Klout Score statistics will allow you to see when your score went up and when it went down. By looking at these statistics and remembering how you got the big increase or decrease, you will be able to identify what you need to do to boost your Klout Score and what you need to avoid so your Klout Score does not decrease.

Those are the 11 ways to boost your Klout Score. Although it may take a while before your Klout Score goes up by 20 or so, implementing these tactics will eventually allow you to get there. I used these tactics to become one of the Top 10% of all social media influencers. What are your thoughts on the list? Do you have any additional tips? Please share your thoughts and advice below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
