Going After Sales On A Blog

September 8, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Is the wrong approach.

Going after subscribers is the right approach.

The subscribers are more likely to remember who you are since you provide free content.

Not all of them will, but some will tell their friends about your blog.

Your subscriber count goes up.

You offer something for free to your subscribers.

Your subscriber count goes even higher.

Soon you have thousands of subscribers.

Let’s say you get 5,000 subscribers and only 10% of those people buy your product. That’s 500 sales!

Now let’s say you had 100,000 subscribers and only 10% of those people buy your product. That’s 10,000 sales!

Even if you got a sale by going after the sale, you won’t get a returning customer. They’ll forget about your blog and look at a similar one.

You don’t get sales by going after the sale. You wait for your subscribers to look at enough of your content until they decide what you’re selling is actually worth buying.

Why You Need A Blog

August 16, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

If you already have a blog, chances are you know someone who doesn’t. Blogging is growing at a rapid pace. These WordPress stats will give you an idea of how popular blogging has become (look at the number of pageviews where the bar for 100 million pageviews looks miniscule). That doesn’t even include Blogger, Typepad, or other blogging platforms.

Blogs are ways to build a following for your content. With a blog, you can build the visitor’s trust. That trust turns into the visitor deciding to buy your product.

Blogs are fun to write on because you choose the niche. Businesses that blog see more traffic than those who don’t. If you or someone you know doesn’t have a blog, today is the day to get out there in a big way with a blog.

The Picture Perfect Solution For Your Blog

August 14, 2013 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

If you are wondering how to increase traffic to your blog, you should add more pictures to your blog. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and they will catch the eye of your visitors. The picture will also give your visitors an idea of what your blog post is going to be about.

The problem is that when people read a blog post, they may scroll down and forget to read the title. It does happen. The picture is a reminder of what your blog post is about.

Pinterest is also becoming a more popular social network which I have been talking about a lot recently. In order to build an audience on Pinterest, your blog needs pictures, and with pictures, your blog posts look better on other social networks as well.

If you’re trying to get more traffic to your blog, it might have something to do with pictures. If you don’t add pictures to your blog posts, that’s the change you need to make.

Ideal Frequency Of Blog Posts

June 23, 2013 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

There are a lot of people who use different frequencies for their blog posts. Some bloggers create new blog posts every day while others post on their blog every week. There is no shirt that fits all in the frequency of blog posts.

The content of a blog is important, but getting your name to appear on other blogs and websites (guest blogger, interview, etc) will allow you to build up an audience. Many people who support blogging once a day tell other bloggers that the more you write, the better your SEO is.

I personally always publish at least 1 post every day. Sometimes, I will publish 2 posts on a single day. The second post I publish is usually a post about one of my products that gets published in the afternoon.

However, I am changing my approach towards the frequency that I blog. Statistics show that most people visit blogs during the morning and late at night. If you want to write a blog post every day, either publish the blog post in the morning or late at night.

I am going to try to publish 2 blog posts every day for an entire week (the first one at 9 a.m. as always and the second on at 9 p.m.). After a week, I will determine whether or not it will be too much work to publish content at that frequency.

The more you post, the better. However, don’t sacrifice quality to get quantity. If I realize I am sacrificing quality to get quantity, I will stop posting twice a day. If I am still able to get a lot of quality posts in, I will keep it up.

There is no shirt that fits all. My method was to publish 1 post every day, and now I am going to try publishing 2 posts every day. The Huffington Post and other news blogs publish over 100 posts every day. Some bloggers only put new content on their blog once a month.

It depends on what you are looking that will result in the right frequency for you.

Appearance Matters

April 15, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Too bad not everyone thinks this way. Before your visitors see any words on your blog, they will notice the appearance of the blog. The theme of the blog is essential to attract your visitors. If your theme looks dull, you won’t be able to keep your visitors on your blog for too long. If your blog has a good theme, your reader will stay long enough to take a look at your content. Then it is all up to the content on the blog to keep the visitor engaged.
