How To Use The LapTop Trick To Increase Productivity

May 24, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

One of the problems with being productive on the computer is that it seems as if we have an infinite amount of time. In the span of days, weeks, months, and years, some people believe they couldn’t possibly need any extra time. This is what results in many people being unproductive when they work on their computers. An infinite amount of time eliminates the sense of urgency.

However, there is a fix to the problem. There is a way to create urgency. What if you had several days to write 10 blog posts? Chances are you would write some blog posts on some of those days and not write a single blog post on other days. In addition, those blog posts may get crammed together in the end.

Now what would happen if you only had 6 hours to write 10 blog posts? That would be 1 blog post every 36 minutes. That is still a lot of time to write a blog post, but now you are writing 10 blog posts in 1 day. How does that happen?

The answer is using the LapTop trick. We are all fooled into thinking that we have an unlimited amount of time. However, we are all mistaken. The best way to tap into the urgency is by removing the power cord from your computer. Then, work in a different room from where your power cord is, and continue to write blog posts and do other productive things until your computer dies or you get all of your tasks done. Removing the power cord removes the thought of having an infinite amount of time. Removing the power cord allows you to realize that you don’t have a lot of time left, and as your computer drops under 50% power, you will further realize that you do not have a lot of time left. As your computer gets closer to dying, your sense of urgency will increase. Soon, you will be able to complete tasks in several hours that once took you several days to complete.

The LapTop trick is a secret way to boost your productivity. We do not have an infinite amount of time, and this trick will allow anyone to realize that time is a valuable but also limited resource.

How To Make Better Use Of The Time You Have

March 14, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Time management is something that we all seek. We understand that time is our most valuable resource, but allocating that time properly has become more of a challenge. When it comes to utilizing time, it is important to identify how we are already utilizing the time that we have. You may be spending 30 minutes on Twitter every day. How you spend those 30 minutes depends on how productive you are. Spending 30 minutes on Twitter looking at the trending topics is not as productive as 30 minutes on Twitter connecting with your followers and following targeted users.

Some people are spending the same amount of time you are, but by making some small changes, these people are able to get more done. For a blogger, writing 5 blog posts in 30 minutes is more productive than doing typing speed tests for 30 minutes. There are too many people who complain about all of the goals that are not getting done. The simple fix may be to utilize the time you have dedicated to your goals differently.

There are many solutions to getting better time management such as using score cards and following these tips. However, getting better time management all comes down to how you are utilizing the time you already have. 30 minutes of watching is not as productive as 30 minutes of doing. Making better time with what you have starts by focusing on the time you are already using.

Why Some Goals Appear To Be Impossible

March 9, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Remember when it was impossible to create food at your house? 3D Printing solved that problem. Remember when it was impossible to be in the sky? Airplanes solved that problem. Remember when it was impossible to connect and have conversations with famous people? Then came social media.

There are many things that seem impossible. There are also many things that seemed impossible but were made possible (and ended up happening). So why do we keep on persisting that certain things are impossible? Why do we keep on persisting that no matter how much we try, the goal is simply unattainable?

The reason things appear to be impossible is because of a bad mindset. Thinking that something is impossible is easier than doing the work to make it possible. Writing 4 books every year is doable, but most people think it is impossible. Thinking it is impossible results in no need to put in the work and effort.

Things appear to be impossible because it is the easier road to take. If you believe your idea is possible, you have to put in time and effort to turn your idea into a reality. What do you think is impossible? Are people already doing what you believe is impossible? Some self published authors write more than 4 books every year! What are you going to do?

The Feeling Of Accomplishment

March 8, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are many goals we give ourselves. Some get done while others get pushed to the side. Sadly, more goals are being pushed to the side than there are goals getting done. Whether it be because of time management or no more desire to continue, many people give up on their goals.

However, the feeling of accomplishing a goal gives us the motivation we need to accomplish our other goals. We all feel great when we accomplish something. I feel great when I write a certain number of blog posts every week, schedule a certain amount of tweets, and finish a certain amount of videos.

The feeling of accomplishment invigorates us to raise our standards. Putting the giant check mark in front of a goal boosts this invigoration. In order to get the best feeling of accomplishment, you need to acknowledge the accomplishment. Writing down the goal and putting a giant check mark in front of the one you accomplished is the best way of doing that.

In order to continue to do the work we do, we need to have an incentive. The best incentive is the feeling of accomplishment. Some people will quickly argue that a monetary incentive is the stronger of the two, but the feeling of accomplishment raises our standards and as a results makes us pursue more challenging goals. Maybe your first goal was to write your first blog post. Now your goal may be to make a solid income by blogging.

The feeling of accomplishment allows us to raise our standards. By raising those standards, we will be able to accomplish the goals that once seemed impossible.

Why Everyone Needs To Dream Big

February 22, 2014 by Marc Guberti 14 Comments

As the saying goes, “Go big or go home.” There is no longer a life of the in between. You can either be a leader of your niche or not the leader of your niche. That’s the only way there is. The in between option was taken out years ago because the need to become #1 dramatically increased with the introduction and rise of social networks and blogs.

The only way to become the best of your niche is to dream big. As you keep on dreaming big, you will give yourself a giant goal to chase after. Some goals may take weeks to complete while others may take more than a year. However, by dreaming big, you are increasing your standards. Dreaming big results in more productivity.

Dreaming small results in lower standards. An example of dreaming small would be wanting to have 1,000 followers in 2 years. You would only have to gain 1-2 followers a day in order to make that dream become a reality. However, dreaming bigger, let’s say getting 100,000 followers in that same period of time, will result in you being more productive and getting more done. Whether you reach the 100,000 milestone or not within the 2 year period, you are going to be well above the 1,000 follower milestone.

Dreaming big gives us a boost in confidence. Dreaming also allows us to plan our futures. After we dream big, all we need to do is act accordingly. By dreaming big, you will know what you want to accomplish. All you would have to do after that is accomplish the dream.

The Results For My First Score Card

February 21, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Recently, I wrote a score card in order to control my progress. I was amazed with my productivity over the period of 1 week. The only thing that got scratched from the final list was scheduling 10 days of Google Plus posts because accessing Do Share got confusing to the point where I did not want it to hurt my other goals. I will provide the goal that needed to be reached with parenthesis indicating what I was able to do.

  1. Write 20 blog posts (I wrote all 20 blog posts).
  2. Schedule 10 days of tweets (I scheduled all 10 days of tweets).
  3. Finish 12 KeyNotes for future videos (I finished all 12 KeyNotes).
  4. Finish 8 videos (I was only able to finish 4 of the 8).
  5. Write down ideas for 20 Vines (I wrote down ideas for 20 Vines).
  6. Post 5 Vines (I only posted 2 of the 5).

Although I did not finish 8 videos or post 5 Vines, I was able to do all of the other things effectively. I calculated that I would get a score of 82% (B for the week). You can see the algorithm I use to score my score cards here.

This was a valuable lesson that allowed me to see how much I could really do within a week. This week taught me to take my score cards more seriously because they result in me getting a lot of work done in a shorter amount of time.
