Why You Should Recycle Your Blog Posts

July 24, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Recycle Blog Posts

Recycling blog posts is a practice with no in between. Some people love it while others never want to recycle or think about recycling their blog posts. Just like numerous other people, I was skeptical about recycling blog posts. I did not want to write the same thing twice because I thought people would be disinterested in reading same blog post twice.

I had this view towards recycling blog posts until I learned that The New York Times recycles its content. Some stories on The New York Times get so much attention that the publisher publishes those same stories in future newspapers. Using the same story twice saves time (The New York Times already has one story written for the week) and allows The New York Times to get the same kind of attention they got when they published the story the first time.

Now, let’s go back to recycling blog posts. The practice looks much better knowing that The New York Times is one of the newspapers that recycles its content. As a blogger with many things to do, recycling content can save you time. As your blog gets older, there will be some blog posts that once got a lot of attention but are now long forgotten. You can bring these blog posts back to life by writing and publishing them again.

No matter how valuable any blog post is, most readers are going to gradually forget the tips and methods from the blog post. A blog post about 10 Twitter tips that was published two years ago will be long forgotten. If you are pressed for time to write a blog post, you can recycle that long forgotten blog post that provided people with value. When the recycled blog post gets published, it still provides value, but this time it gets more attention, and more people remember the value of that blog post (at least, for now).

Recycling blog posts allows you to save time while giving your readers valuable blog posts. It is still important to update your blog with new content, but recycling blog posts is a great method to remind people about valuable information they may have forgotten.

3 Ways To Avoid Running Out Of Blog Post Ideas

July 13, 2014 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

Blog Post Idea Box

Blogging is an art, and blogging every day is a skill. However, there will be some moments when it will be difficult for you to come up with ideas. These will be the times when you look at other bloggers with envy as they are able to publish 1 blog post every day without running out of ideas. The surprising thing is that although these expert bloggers are able to publish 1 blog post every day, there are some points when they run out of ideas and have to think of new ones. In order to avoid running out of blogging ideas, follow these three steps.

  1. Schedule more blog posts. On some days, I schedule two blog posts while I am able to schedule 10 blog posts on other days. Before implementing the other two methods, I would run out of ideas for topics to write blog posts about. The only topics I could think of were the ones that I covered in recent blog post. However, since I always schedule blog posts in advance, I would have a few days to think of more ideas for blog posts.
  2. Read one book every week. That may sound like a lot to read, but some books are longer than others. While some books are 500 pages, other books are only 150 pages. When you read these books, you need to be sure that they are either related to your niche or fiction books (90% of books you read should be related to your niche). Each time you see a topic you can write about, write that topic in a notebook. Soon enough, you will have a big list of blog post ideas.
  3. Create knock-offs of your past blog posts. A while ago, I wrote a blog post called 5 Pinterest Mistakes To Avoid. That evolved into a Part 2 and then a Part 3. Some of the ideas for your future blog posts can be provoked by the blog posts that you have already published.

By implementing these three tactics, you will find it easier to come up with blog post ideas. What are your thoughts on the list? Do you have any additional tips on thinking of more blog post ideas? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

6 Ways To Think Of More Blog Posts To Write

January 15, 2014 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

Every writer experiences writer’s block, and when it comes, writing blog posts can prove to be a challenge. Thinking about different things to write about also becomes more challenging. Here are 6 ways to think of more blog posts to write so when writer’s block comes, you can get out of it faster.

  1. Read books about your niche. You’ll be able to learn more about your niche and think of more things to write about at the same time!
  2. Watch videos about your niche. One sentence in the video can turn into your next blog post.
  3. Take a break from writing. We all need them, but don’t go overboard with the break either.
  4. Write the things you think of on sticky notes. This will ensure that when you come up with a good blog post, you will remember that idea.
  5. Look at your older blog posts. By looking at your older blog posts, you can identify some of the topics that you vaguely talked about or learned more about. Those can turn into your new blog posts.
  6. Create a series of blog posts. If you have a really good idea, write a Part 1, Part 2, and continue the series for as long as you like.
