The Difference Between Being The Best And Showing Up

March 10, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

Showing up is easy. You don’t have to try. You just have to be in the room.

Being the best means putting in a lot of work and effort to achieve a goal. Being the best means that you want to get better even if you are already good at something.

Getting better and wanting to get better are two different things.

Are you showing up or are you being the best?

What Makes A Twitter Background Great

March 10, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are many factors we take into considering when measuring someone’s success on Twitter. The number of targeted followers and amount of engagement per tweet are two of the many things we measure in order to determine how successful someone is on Twitter. However, there is one factor that commonly gets overlooked. That overlooked factor is the background.

Decent backgrounds do not get noticed. Ugly backgrounds get noticed for the wrong reasons. The quality backgrounds around get noticed for the right reasons. There are not as many quality backgrounds on Twitter as there should be. This is mostly because the need for a quality background has gone unnoticed.

There are ways to make your Twitter background great. The best way to do so is by making sure your background does a good job at telling people what you tweet about. I tweet about social media, so I have a background that is related to social media.

If you are willing to pay for a service or know how to make a customized Twitter background, you should include your blog’s URL and other social networks in your Twitter background. This will allow your followers know of more ways to get access to your content.

Those are the different ways to create a quality Twitter background. The easiest method is to get a picture from the web that gives people a good idea of what you talk about. If you have some extra money to spend or know how to create a professional looking background, add your information in the background as well. The only backgrounds that get good attention are the quality ones.

5 Reasons To Comment On Other People’s Blogs

March 9, 2014 by Marc Guberti 14 Comments

There are a lot of ways to build your presence as a blogger, and one of those methods is commenting on other people’s blogs. While this is a slower approach towards building a powerful presence, consistently commenting on other people’s blogs will one day give you a surge of traffic. Of all of the reasons to comment on other people’s blogs, these 5 reasons are the ones that stand out the most.

  1. Your blog gets more backlinks. Leaving comments on other people’s blogs results in a backlink for your blog. Getting more backlinks will get your blog more traffic from search engines.
  2. You get to build connections with other commentors. The people who leave a comment after you are very likely to see your comment as well. This will result in you making numerous connections depending on how popular the blog is.
  3. You can connect with the blogger. Some bloggers respond to the comments of their visitors. This gives you the ability to build a strong connection with the blogger. Then, you can ask that blogger to be a guest for an interview (Google Hangouts or an email with questions). Interviews end up helping out both you and the blogger.
  4. Some blogs have widgets on the sidebar that show the top commentors. The blogs with these widgets will allow you to easily get another backlink to your blog. In addition, your name will appear on multiple places in the same blog. The more times your name shows up, the more likely someone is to visit your blog.
  5. People see you more often. As people see you more often, their trust for you will grow. This concept is a big reason why many companies have not given up on the TV advertising game. They need to be seen often in order to gain our trust.

Those are the 5 key benefits of commenting on other people’s blogs. Whether you want to give it a try on this blog or comment on other blogs, commenting on other blogs is a great way for you to build your own blog’s traffic.

Why Some Goals Appear To Be Impossible

March 9, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Remember when it was impossible to create food at your house? 3D Printing solved that problem. Remember when it was impossible to be in the sky? Airplanes solved that problem. Remember when it was impossible to connect and have conversations with famous people? Then came social media.

There are many things that seem impossible. There are also many things that seemed impossible but were made possible (and ended up happening). So why do we keep on persisting that certain things are impossible? Why do we keep on persisting that no matter how much we try, the goal is simply unattainable?

The reason things appear to be impossible is because of a bad mindset. Thinking that something is impossible is easier than doing the work to make it possible. Writing 4 books every year is doable, but most people think it is impossible. Thinking it is impossible results in no need to put in the work and effort.

Things appear to be impossible because it is the easier road to take. If you believe your idea is possible, you have to put in time and effort to turn your idea into a reality. What do you think is impossible? Are people already doing what you believe is impossible? Some self published authors write more than 4 books every year! What are you going to do?

The Feeling Of Accomplishment

March 8, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are many goals we give ourselves. Some get done while others get pushed to the side. Sadly, more goals are being pushed to the side than there are goals getting done. Whether it be because of time management or no more desire to continue, many people give up on their goals.

However, the feeling of accomplishing a goal gives us the motivation we need to accomplish our other goals. We all feel great when we accomplish something. I feel great when I write a certain number of blog posts every week, schedule a certain amount of tweets, and finish a certain amount of videos.

The feeling of accomplishment invigorates us to raise our standards. Putting the giant check mark in front of a goal boosts this invigoration. In order to get the best feeling of accomplishment, you need to acknowledge the accomplishment. Writing down the goal and putting a giant check mark in front of the one you accomplished is the best way of doing that.

In order to continue to do the work we do, we need to have an incentive. The best incentive is the feeling of accomplishment. Some people will quickly argue that a monetary incentive is the stronger of the two, but the feeling of accomplishment raises our standards and as a results makes us pursue more challenging goals. Maybe your first goal was to write your first blog post. Now your goal may be to make a solid income by blogging.

The feeling of accomplishment allows us to raise our standards. By raising those standards, we will be able to accomplish the goals that once seemed impossible.

5 Things You Need To Get A Hashtag To Trend On Twitter

March 8, 2014 by Marc Guberti 13 Comments

There are many reasons why certain hashtags trend. Some trend because of a big following while others trend because of the news. Getting your hashtag to trend is by no means an easy feat, but it is possible. In order to get your hashtag on Twitter to trend, these are the 5 things you need.

  1. Have a large, targeted following. Many of the people who get their own hashtag trending tend to have well over 50,000 followers. Find the most successful Twitter user in your niche and follow that person’s followers who are likely to follow back. Your following will eventually grow large enough to get a hashtag to trend on Twitter.
  2. Make the hashtag something good enough to trend. If you are approaching a certain follower milestone, tweet that out. Uber Facts used the hashtag #UberFactsTo6Million to get more people knowing about their approaching milestone.
  3. Give your followers a reason to tweet with the hashtag. Uber Facts decided to do a $100 giveaway. Esurance decided to do a $1.5 million giveaway. Famous Vine users decide to follow (some) of the people who tweet with the hashtag. Regardless of whether you are the next Vine sensation or tweet facts every hour, you need to give your followers a reason to tweet with the hashtag.
  4. Ask for tweets and retweets. Anyone who tweeted #UberFactsTo6Million or retweeted Uber Facts tweet with the hashtag got entered into the giveaway. As the hashtag started getting attention, people went to Uber Facts’ original tweet, saw the giveaway, and decided to retweet the tweet and get in on the action.
  5. Give people a reason to continue tweeting. Uber Facts decided to double the prize from $100 to $200 in honor of the tweet trending. This got more people’s attention and resulted in the hashtag trending for a longer period of time.

Those are the 5 things you need in order to get a hashtag to trend on Twitter. It is entirely possible that you become one of those movie stars or influential singers who has million of active followers, but for those of us who won’t be getting those two things, this is the best way to get a hashtag to trend on Twitter.
