It is hard to remember that the two giants of Social Media, Twitter and Facebook, started out as 1 line of code. Now that Twitter and Facebook have been around for almost a decade, millions of people have created accounts on Twitter and about a billion people have created accounts on Facebook. At one point, those numbers were 0 people on Facebook and 0 people on Twitter. So what happened? The creators of Facebook and Twitter were able to finish through with their project and promote it to a lot of people. Finishing big projects tends to be annoying, and it is easier to finished with a shortened or smaller product that is good, but not as good as what it was meant to be. Everything created by human hands in existence whether that may be a house nearby or the Empire State Building all started out as ideas. These ideas were finished, and we can now see them today.
Overpromoters Go Downhill Fast
Do you have an eBook or product that you want people to buy? The best way to get more sales for that product is to AVOID promoting that individual product or eBook too much. An example of this is my eBook about Honest Ways To Make Money Online. I do not talk about it too much (maybe twice a week on Twitter), but I provide other content as well. You can easily create loyal customers, but you don’t start by shoving your services, product, or eBook right into their face. I created a Squidoo lens that tells people how to make money online. I put my eBook all the way on the bottom of that lens so it wouldn’t get in the way of the content. The content entices people to keep an eye on you, and then when you promote your eBook, product, or service, you will get a lot of sales. Don’t overpromote what you want to sell. It takes time to succeed.
The Tired Attitude
When people are tired, they tend to overlook what is important or what could be important. People who are tired tend to miss out on the small details that could have been huge benefactors in the long run. Tiredness can also lead to careless mistakes that can decrease the value of your content. Poor writing can overshadow good content because it shows carelessness which only results when a person is tired. If you are only getting less than 9 hours of sleep per day, then you need to change your schedule.
Getting Ready For Summer
There are only 25 days left of school for me. Although this does not include review days and end terms, summer is quickly approaching. May will approach sooner than we think and then June will be right around the corner. Everyone gets more downtime during the summer whether that means no school, not having to drive someone to school, or less work hours. Summer is an important time to do what you need to do for your business. If you have control of your schedule in the summer, you can work on your business for many hours each day and still have time to have friends over and enjoy yourself over the summer break. I always enjoy summer breaks from school, but I don’t want to waste them either. I have big plans for YouTube, Kindle, iPhone Apps, and Squidoo that I am eager to work on over the summer.
The Statistics
There are a lot of things that we can learn from looking at the statistics of our websites and blogs. Statistics provide accurate information about how many visitors you get, how many click outs you get, and how many sales you are able to get each month. Some servers and affiliate programs offer different statistics than others, but it is important to identify all of the important statistics and look at those. You can see a rise in traffic or a decline in traffic for specific websites. One of my Squidoo lenses called 50 Ways To Make Money From Home has received a lot of traffic lately. This lens talks about 10 of the methods that I use to make money while the others are included in my eBook which I promote at the bottom of that lens. This lens went from less than 10 visitors per day in January to over 200 visitors per day right now. I expect this lens to reach 300 visitors in 1 day before the end of April. This lens most likely made a great comeback since everyone wants to know how to make money online. The statistics have taught me one lesson today (and they will teach me many others along the way)–what’s high on demand always gets visitors.
Very Touching
What happened at the Boston Marathon was a true disaster. We shouldn’t try to come up with any quick answers. Instead, we should quickly come to the aid of the people of Boston. As many people in my school know, I am a Boston Red Sox fan, and I stay up to date with what is going on with my favorite sports team. I was very fascinated to find these two pictures online which each made their way to Twitter. A couple of days after the Red Sox are playing the Cleveland Indians, and this note left in the Red Sox dugout shows us that the opposing team care about what is going on. We can only imagine what these players are thinking about as they take the field, and eventually, when they return to Fenway Park.
In addition to this, the Yankees have their logo and the Red Sox logo at the front of the stadium with the words, “United We Stand.” In the 8th inning, Sweet Caroline was heard throughout Yankee Stadium which is always played at Fenway Park during the 8th inning.
Baseball teams play against each other with the goal of beating the other team. However, some games go beyond the meaning of winning and losing. Some games are about having an impact on the community of players and citizens of Boston. As MLB put it, last night, we were all Bostonians–and we will continue to be as we remember what happened on that day.
