Your Blog Is A Book

October 3, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

I have the word count for all of my blog posts. Instead of blogging for free, I could have turned all of this content into a 200 page paperback book. People wouldn’t listen as much.

The secret to writing a book is that it doesn’t have a price tag. It doesn’t have to be a paperback or a digital copy being sold as an eBook. The truth is your blog is your own book. What’s even better is that your blog is a book that never ends, and it’s free for everyone.

You’re the author, and you’re in charge!

The 3 Things Your Contest Must Do

October 2, 2013 by Marc Guberti 3 Comments

More people are hosting their own contests. More people are talking about creative ways to host contests and how to host them on various social networks. However, no matter which social network you use, your contest should be able to benefit you in some way. If you’re giving something away, you should get something in return.

These are the 3 things you need to focus on when it comes to hosting your own contest:

  1. Get more shares on the social network. This can mean more likes, repins, retweets, revines (depending on the social network you are using), and so on. If people share your contest on their social networks, friends and followers will learn about your contest. More people share your message, and more people enter for a chance to win.
  2. Get more followers that stick around. It’s unquestionable that hosting your own contest will get you more followers on your social networks. However, are these followers going to stick around once your competition ends? In order to get followers that stick around, make sure you frequently post updates similar to the prize you’re giving away. If you’re giving away an iPad, talking about technology would help you get followers that stick. If you review books, giving away a book will allow you to get followers that will stick around. Then, you can be sure your followers won’t just bounce back and forth to this contest and that contest.
  3. Get more subscribers for your blog. Did you check your email today? You probably did. A majority of people do the same thing. Some people check their inboxes right when they see the red circle indicating they got a new message. What if some of those messages were emails about your latest blog posts. Social networks are giant places, and it’s easy for people to get lost on them. One profile looks good today, but another profile will look even better tomorrow. At the end of your contest, you can say something like, “Subscribe to my blog for more updates about future contests and free resources as well.” This allows you to create a list, and as the contest progresses, that list gets bigger.

Putting Everything In Two Or More Baskets

October 2, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

I haven’t been getting too many sales on Kindle lately. Christmas isn’t here just yet which means we’ll all have to wait a little longer before those Christmas shoppers come around. I wasn’t seeing sales for the books on Kindle.

I completely forgot that I put my books on iTunes. I decided to check for the number of sales my books made. Sure enough, there were multiple sales. I was overjoyed.

If you are selling a book, don’t limit yourself to one place. Sell your book, or any product for that matter, at as many places as you can. Don’t rely on one method that will allow you to make revenue. Instead, use a combination of tactics that will allow you to thrive in the process.

For The Fame

October 1, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

It doesn’t work that way. If you go for the fame, you won’t be able to do something that you’ll truly love to do. You’ll only do what you’re doing for the fame.

If you’re doing something for the fame, you won’t have enough dedication to reach that fame. The sports athletes aren’t where they are primarily for the fame. Those athletes are playing professional sports because they enjoy playing that sport. Most of the professional athletes played that sport for many years before they played professionally.

Fame isn’t something to strive for. Fame is something that gets acquired during your journey.

Will They Miss You?

October 1, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

If you don’t do what you were expected to do, would people miss you? If you decided that you didn’t want to do a blog post today, would people miss reading one of your blog posts? If you want to do something that is incredible, you have to make sure there are people who would actually miss you if you didn’t deliver. By doing what you do consistently, people will expect you to keep up with that consistency. If you’re really good at what you do, people will miss you if you break the consistency for a day. If people don’t miss you, they won’t care.

It’s better to have people who miss you because they know what to expect from you, and they know who you are.

Obey Or Disobey?

September 30, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

One rule is to hold a little back. Why not bring forth everything you’ve got?

Another rule is to be safe. Why not take a leap or two?

Another rule is to always promote your product. Why not promote other people’s products and their blog posts?

Another rule is that you need to learn as much as you can. Why not implement some of the things you have learned before learning more?

Another rule is to raise your hand. Don’t wait to get picked in the business world. Shout out and see who listens. If no one listens, you need to change your message.

Instead of obeying all of the rules, you have to start asking yourself which rules are worth obeying and which rules are worth disobeying.
