Seeing VS Solving

No matter where you are in your journey, you are going to encounter problems for your business. Maybe you don’t have a lot of Twitter followers, or your product isn’t getting enough sales. Even the people with those hundreds of thousands of followers and bestselling products face problems. Maybe their blog went down or it’s time to create a new product.

We all see the problem. In fact, the problem is staring right at us. Looking for a problem isn’t nearly as difficult as finding Waldo. We already know the problem. If there’s a problem in your business, chances are you already know about it.

You see the problem. That’s great. Solving that problem would be even better. Everyone sees the problems they are having with their businesses, but not everyone is actually taking the time to solve those problems.

Remember those math tests and homework? You can see the problem 2x+5=15 (don’t worry about doing the work for this one. The answer is x=5). However, you aren’t going to get the answer correct simply by seeing the problem.

Instead, you have to solve the problem and come up with a correct answer. In the case of a business, you don’t get graded by a teacher, but you get graded by reality. If you put in a lot of work and solved the problem, you got the points. If you weren’t able to solve the problem, you don’t get any points for that problem.

We see the opportunity or the blunder, but too many of us aren’t taking action to actually solve the blunder or take the opportunity. Seeing isn’t good enough anymore. The only extra thing you have to do is solve the problem, and that will make all of the difference.

Right now, there are only videos about social media and blogging, but I can guarantee you that videos about business will show up as well. What Do You Do With The Traffic?

Everyone is so focused on getting traffic. This means doing all of that fun research for backlinking, using keywords, incorporating tags, and more of that fun stuff in order to learn more about getting all of that traffic.

Implementing all of the methods you learn will get you more traffic. However, what is that traffic actually doing for you? Are the 50 people who viewed your blog going to come back tomorrow or the day after that? Are you getting more subscribers? Are you getting more sales?

Getting hundreds of visitors a day doesn’t translate to hundreds of sales a day. In fact, hundreds of visitors a day may translate to no sales at all if you aren’t promoting anything. Why not come up with your own product? It could be a book, DVD, or something else. You’ll be able to get a revenue from your blog.

It’s not about getting your blog viewed more times than all of the other blogs on the web. It’s about getting the quality viewers: the ones who share your posts, the ones who subscribe to your blog, the ones who come back, the ones who buy your products, and so on. Make sure you can list some benefits of getting more traffic before pursuing that path.

The Problem With Keeping A Secret

Nobody knows about it. The successful people who have great ideas for products aren’t promoting their products when they’re up for sale. Those people are promoting their products months or even years before the product even comes out.

This actually allows people to know about the product. When some people know about the product, they tell their friends, and more people get the message. Soon, you already have a giant fan base waiting to buy your product, and you haven’t even put it up for sale yet.

Apple gets so many sales for all of their new devices. One of the reasons they get all of those sales is because we know about the devices well in advance. Months before the actual device comes out, everyone knows what the device is and what it does. The iPhone 5S was trending on Twitter well before it was actually released.

Apple doesn’t make the release dates of their devices a secret. Everyone knows when the next big thing from Apple is coming out. If the next iPhone came out at 8 p.m, everyone would be on their computer at 7:59 p.m ready to click the “Buy Now” button somewhere on Apple’s website.

When Changes Are Made

WARNING: Really long blog post.

The perfect becomes the imperfect. The go-to place becomes deserted.

I fear Staples is heading in that direction. Next year, Fordham Prep will require that all students have a Windows 8 computer. Many schools are going through this transition as well.

So what does that mean for Staples? To sum it up quickly, it means a lot.

There’s no longer a need for a notebook when you can open up a document on your computer instead. Once you get the computer, everything else is free. Not only does that mean free notebooks, but some schools have started to implement etextbooks as well. Instead of carrying that heavy textbook in your backpack or shoving it into your locker, the electronic option is available.

With a computer, there is no longer a need for pens or pencils. This sentence didn’t appear because of a pencil or a pen. That sentence (and this one) appeared because they were typed.

Instead of worksheets on paper, students can be given the worksheet online. If all of the teachers of a particular school do this, folders are no longer needed. All of the worksheets just get organized on the computer.

The endless search for a 2 subject notebook is over. Two documents on the computer do the job for you.

The eraser has been replaced with the backspace button, and all you have to do to get a calculator is to search it on Google. Books will turn into eBooks. Only the sports lockers will be left. Maybe the backpack can even be left home.

The ruler and protractor haven’t been figured out yet, but if everything else has been figured out, we can only imagine how long it will take before those get figured out.

Fordham Prep has a computer center, but I don’t know what is going to become of that. Everyone will already have their own computer next year.

Backpacks are going to get a lot lighter, and since so much is in one device, less people will forget a particular notebook. All a student needs is a computer, and that student will already have virtually all of their supplies.

Staples is in danger. Staples is the go-to place for getting school supplies. In late August and early September, everyone is going to Staples. If there isn’t a notebook on the shelf, that’s too bad. You’ll just have to go to another Staples and search for that notebook. What if your also looking for folders? When you go home from Staples, what happens when you realize you needed to buy a box of #2 pencils? It’s another commute to Staples, another moment of anxiety when you wonder if Staples still have pencils, and of course, the lines.

The computer solves all of that because it gives you what you would have gotten, but the computer is way more convenient. The student body at Fordham Prep contains about 950 students. Let’s say all of those students spend $5 at Staples for school supplies. Staples would get a total of $4750 in sales (I used the Google calculator for that one). Since all Fordham Prep students will be required to have Windows 8 computers, going to Staples will no longer be a requirement. Staples loses $4750 in profit from 950 students alone.

Then, other schools require computers, and less people go to Staples. It’s already happening to Barnes & Nobles on a much larger scale. eBooks are dominating the market that used to belong to stores like Barnes & Nobles. Borders is done for (remember who they were). Barnes & Nobles is fighting to stay in business.

This is the calm before the storm. Fordham Prep is going to require their students to have computers. Many other schools will follow, and some of them already started.

Staples is safe now, but soon it will be placed in a dangerous situation. The market won’t be able to support Staples as it does now. Staples will have sell products for business savvy people such as business cards or something like that. Focusing on selling school supplies will no longer be an option.

3 Ways To Get More Traffic And Sales From YouTube

If you have a YouTube account, I highly recommend getting some videos done if you haven’t already. Videos are valuable ways to reach out to other people, and YouTube is the ideal place to use that advantage. Many marketers are using YouTube, but even when most of them get views, none of those views turn into sales or visitors on a blog. This even happens to many of those viral videos that have over 100,000 views.

The reason many people aren’t getting the results they want from YouTube is because they don’t know how to promote themselves. If you just upload the video and don’t promote yourself throughout the video or during the end, you aren’t using YouTube in a way that would give you more traffic and sales.

The first way to get more traffic and sales on YouTube is to constantly refer to your blog or products. In all of my YouTube videos, I introduce myself (Hello everybody, I am Marc Guberti) and tell the viewer about one of my products or blog (and I am the author of). Then, I go right into what I want to talk about in the video. It is important to consistently promote yourself with this method because people will hear the name of your product or your blog so many times that they will look at it. This will allow you to get more sales and traffic.

The second way to get more traffic and sales on YouTube is to include a link to your blog. Many people don’t think about the impact of adding a link to their blog. This seems like an easy task. All you have to do is copy and paste the link of your blog in the video (be sure to include http:// when you paste the link of your blog in the description). However, many people miss this step. This is how viral videos have no impact on the traffic and sales you get. They get the viewers, but the viewers have no other option to view other content. If people like your video, they will want to look at some of your other products and content as well. Give them that option.

The third way to get more traffic and sales on YouTube is to tell everyone where they can find your social networks at the end of the video. If the viewer likes what he sees, he will follow you on one or more of your social networks. If you actively use those social networks, that viewer will eventually click on the links of one of your blog posts, see one of your products, and eventually buy that product.

It’s not difficult to turn YouTube into traffic and sales for your products and blog. However, in order to get that extra traffic and sales, you have to promote yourself on your videos. Promoting yourself is a step many people miss which results in potential traffic and sales getting lost in the shuffle.

YouTube is a great way for you to increase your traffic and sales, and with these methods, you’ll be getting more traffic and sales in no time!
