10 Ways To Double Your Pinterest Followers

March 29, 2014 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

Some people are gaining hundreds of Pinterest followers every day while other people struggle to gain 5 followers every day on Pinterest. Although this is not a proven statistic, it is possible that 10% of the people on Pinterest have 90% of the followers (or some cool statistic like that). The difference is that the top pinners have implemented several tactics to double their following. In fact, there are 10 different ways to double your Pinterest following. Here they are:

  1. Be active on Pinterest every day. Being active on Pinterest means sending out at least 15 pins every day, commenting on at least 3 pins every day, and liking/repinning other people’s pins. By being active on Pinterest, more people will see you on their timelines. This will result in an increase in repins, and as you gain repins, you will also gain followers.
  2. Verify your blog. People with the big checkmark are verified, and as you build your following, that checkmark will have a greater significance and bring in more followers. Having the checkmark on your Pinterest account shows your authenticity, and people love authenticity.
  3. Have a strong bio. This is not your English class. You can use sentence fragments and run-ons in order to tell more people about your hobbies and credentials. The more you say in your bio, the better.
  4. Follow targeted people. Even if the ratio gets out of hand, you will end up gaining more followers by following other people. When you follow other people, be sure to follow the people with less than 1,000 followers. The people with less than 1,000 followers are the ones who are most likely to follow you back. In addition, follow the people who are following boards with content similar to yours so you can build a targeted following. Following targeted people alone will contribute to a noticeable change in the amount of people you follow, but it will also result in a noticeable change in the number of repins you get.
  5. Have a profile picture. Adding a profile picture is simple to do. However, having a profile picture of you will make people trust you enough to click the follow button. People prefer to follow someone who they can see than someone hidden by Pinterest’s default picture or a picture of beautiful scenery that you found on Google.
  6. Connect other social networks with Pinterest and vice-versa. Get the followers you have already gained to follow you on Pinterest. This is an easy way to boost your following on one social network from your fan base on another social network.
  7. Have a wide variety of boards. Pinterest is not the place to focus on one niche. On Pinterest, create boards for all of your hobbies and niches you are in. I have several boards on my Pinterest account that have nothing to do with business, blogging, or social media. The result is that I am able to attract a larger audience.
  8. Have a lot of pins. The more pins an account has, the better. Would you rather follow the person on Twitter who sent out 100 tweets or the person who sent out 10,000 tweets. Sending out 10,000 tweets identifies that person as an influential expert, and (in some cases), has a lot of good things and interesting articles to share. As the number of pins go up, more people will be inclined to follow you. Big numbers rule yet again.
  9. Turn your blog into something powerful. If you provide your visitors quality content, they are very likely to follow you on your social networks. If your blog was getting 10,000 daily visitors, imagine how many daily Pinterest followers that would be.
  10. Stick with it. In order to see a big increase in followers, you need to stick with it. Giving up on Pinterest too early will prevent you from seeing the true potential of a powerful social network.

Those are 10 ways to double your Pinterest following. If you have any thoughts about this blog post or additional tips, please share them below.

How To Get More People From Pinterest To Visit Your Blog

January 12, 2014 by Marc Guberti 8 Comments

For the first time ever, my blog experienced back to back days of getting more than 20 visitors from Pinterest. Before this happened, I would normally get 5 visitors from Pinterest on a daily basis. I looked into what I did on Pinterest that day, and it didn’t take me long to realize why I got the growth in traffic.

The first thing I did was follow others. I must have followed at least 1,000 people on Pinterest on those days when I got more traffic. The following rate on Pinterest is about 300 people every hour. Once you reach the maximum rate, you can go back on Pinterest the next hour and follow another 300 people. That’s exactly what I did on those two days when I got more traffic from Pinterest than ever before.

When you follow other people on Pinterest, make sure they are your target audience. I follow people who are following boards about social media and blogging. I also make sure the people I follow are likely to follow me back. On the days my blog gets the most traffic from Pinterest, I am also gaining more Pinterest followers on that day than on any other day of the week.

Another thing you need to do is have a board with all of your blog posts. This is the board that I pin all of my blog posts on. When you write a blog post, it is very important to add pictures to your blog posts so people can pin your blog posts. Add pictures that give people an idea of what your blog post is about. This blog post has a picture of Pinterest’s logo because people who look at my board and find this pin will know what this blog post is about. When people see the YouTube logo, they know that the blog post is about YouTube videos.

When you have a board with over a hundred pins, not everyone is going to scroll down to the bottom of your board. Some of your older blog posts will be forgotten…unless you pin about them again. By pinning about your older blog posts, you will give your older blog posts relevance. People will visit your older blog posts just like they would visit any new blog post. If you decide to use this method, only pin 5 old blog posts every day. If you pin 100 old blog posts daily, people won’t have time to read them all. In addition, if you only have a few hundred posts, people will be annoyed with the repeat pins. It is okay to pin the same thing more than once on a board as long as you pin the same thing too often. I recommend pinning the same blog post on the same board once a week.

That’s how you can increase the traffic you get from Pinterest. I used these tactics to go from 5 daily visitors from Pinterest to over 50 daily visitors from Pinterest. The only way to see what this can do for your traffic is by giving it a try.

How I Went From Gaining 10 Pinterest Followers A Day To Gaining 100 Pinterest Followers A Day

Get More Pinterest Followers

Since Pinterest is the newest social network, the rules of success are not as established. The rules of success for Twitter and Facebook are common to find on blogs and books. There are not as many established rules for achieving success on Pinterest.

One of the rules to succeed on Twitter is to follow people who are interested in your niche and likely to follow back. I used this method on Twitter and got a dramatic increase in followers. While my Twitter account was growing, my Pinterest account was only averaging 10 followers a day.

I was implementing and testing a lot of methods on Pinterest, but I was still gaining 10 followers a day. While this was happening, my Twitter account didn’t miss a beat. I saw that consistently following people interested in my niche was working on Twitter. The methods I was using on Pinterest were not changing the rate I gained followers, so I decided to follow people interested in my niche on Pinterest.

The results were incredible. I was stuck at around 2,300 followers when I started implementing this tactic. I followed over a thousand people on Pinterest, and I ended up getting 100 new followers that day. On the next day, I gained another 100 followers. I no longer have to follow more than a thousand people in order to gain 100 followers. However, implementing a tactic that I use on Twitter for my Pinterest account allowed me to dramatically increase my following.

Following others is important on Pinterest. You may be the next person to go from gaining 10 followers a day to gaining 100 followers a day.
