5 Steps To Finding The Right People In Your Niche To Interview

February 9, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

interview

When it comes to hosting an interview, a lot of things need to go right. The technology needs to be right (I recommend Google+ Hangouts), and the person you are interviewing needs to be someone who your audience will be interested in. In an interview, you are introducing someone to your audience. In order to get the best reaction from your audience, the person who you interview needs to provide really good information. That’s why I had Mike Michalowicz come by and talk about his book, The Pumpkin Plan. We have already scheduled an upcoming interview in August about his upcoming book, Profit First.

Here are the 5 steps that will allow you to find the right people in your niche to interview:

Step 1: You want to interview the people who are going to provide your targeted audience with the knowledge that they are looking for. My targeted audience is the people interested in social media, business, and blogging. This means I am only going to look for people in those three niches. Step 1 is primarily to identify which niches you want to find people in.

Step 2: There are going to be thousands of options. However, finding the people you want to interview out of those thousand is a challenging process. Before you decide whether or not to interview someone, read one of their books. A book will allow you to see some of the insight that the potential interviewee has. If someone you are considering to interview does not have a book or if you do not want to buy the book right away, read some of their blog posts instead. If you like the content of the blog posts, you know that person is a potential interviewee.

Step 3: The next step is to identify the people with big followings. The person with 100,000 followers is 10 times more likely to get the interview than the person with 10,000 followers (assuming that both are in the same niche). This person will most likely promote the interview when it goes up on YouTube. This will give you access to a new audience that is still a targeted one.

Step 4: Contact the people you want to interview. Some will respond while others will not. If you get a response, that response will most likely be a big yes. Entrepreneurs enjoy getting as much exposure and traffic as they can get. The interview will help them just as much as it helps you.

Step 5: Create a schedule for your interviews. Give your potential interviewees multiple options for the interview. When you and the interviewee reach an agreement, tell your followers about the interview. Get the ball rolling, and just like the snowball effect, it will continue to roll.

By implementing this 5 step plan, you will be able to find the best people to interview and successfully schedule a date to have them interviewed. All you have to do after that is find the right technology to host the interview (I’ll recommend Google+ Hangouts for a second time) and prepare for the interview.

10 Easy Ways To Enhance Your Blog’s SEO

January 26, 2014 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

In order to get your blog to rank well on search engines, you need to pay special attention to your blog’s SEO. Search engine optimization is something that some bloggers know very well while others find it very confusing. When I first heard of SEO, I was completely confused. I had no idea how SEO would help my blog or how to apply SEO. You may be confused about SEO as well, but in this article, I am going to make SEO easier to understand. In addition, I will be showing you 10 easy ways to enhance your blog’s SEO.

  1. Blog consistently. Consistency is one of the keys to success. It is better to blog once a week than it is to blog inconsistently.
  2. Link to your older blog posts in your new blog posts. This helps out with your blog’s bounce rate which plays a role in SEO. It’s as easy as inserting a link to another blog post.
  3. Share your blog on social networks. Getting traffic from social networks helps out with a blog’s SEO.
  4. Verify your blog on Pinterest. This way, people know it’s you, and in addition, you get a backlink from Pinterest. Backlinks are important towards SEO, but if you can get a backlink from Pinterest (one of the highest ranked websites on the web), that is a quality backlink. The more quality backlinks you have, the more traffic your blog will get.
  5. Be a guest blogger. This also contributes towards backlinks if you put a link to your blog in your bio. People will see your name on more places in the web, and that will make people to trust you more.
  6. Have a Top Posts & Pages widget on your blog. This is another easy addition that helps out with bounce rate. When someone clicks on the link to one of your popular posts (which many people believe are your best posts), that will lower your blog’s bounce rate.
  7. Use keywords in your title. What are going to be the words and phrases people search to find you? Use some of these keywords in your title so it is easier for people to find you.
  8. Include tags for all of your blog posts. I recommend having 5-10 tags per blog posts because having too many tags is not good for SEO. Tags are the keywords people use to find you. If you want someone to find you for “Twitter tips,” have “Twitter tips” as a tag.
  9. Choose your tags and keywords carefully. Let’s say you wrote an article about getting more retweets on Twitter. A big mistake people make with tagging is that they decide to tag “Twitter” for their articles. If you tag that way, you will be competing with millions (or maybe even billions) of different blog posts and web pages. If one of your tags is “Twitter tips,” you reduce the competition size. If one of your tags is “how to get more retweets on Twitter,” you have reduced the competition even more. Choose the keywords
  10. Write a series of blog posts. I wrote a blog post called 5 Pinterest Mistakes to avoid. Then I wrote a Part 2. By writing a series, all you need to do is get your visitor to enjoy reading one of those blog posts. Then, the visitor will automatically look at the other one as well.

By implementing these 10 easy tactics, you will be able to see an increase in your search engine traffic. I can’t guarantee immediate results, but over the long-term, you will see an increase in traffic from Google and other search engines as well.

4 Reasons Why You Need A Remarkable Story

January 20, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Do you have a remarkable story? Did you lose a certain number of pounds in a quick amount of time? Did you quit your job to create a thriving business? Think of that remarkable story, and put it up on the web where everyone can see it. Here are four reasons that you should have one.

  1. Visitors will know you for something incredible. People who visit your blog for the first time and read your story are going to stick around if the story is remarkable. These people are less likely to forget about you because forgetting about your remarkable story seems impossible. As a result, they keep on visiting.
  2. More people will notice you. The web is a very big place, and being noticed on the web is the most challenging stage for anyone (unless you were a celebrity before you went on the web). People will notice you because of your story. As more people notice you, your blog traffic and sales will increase.
  3. Your story will spread. Word of mouth is a big factor towards how many people get to know about you. Remarkable stories spread, and if your story is remarkable, you will be able to get more visibility.
  4. More people will remember you. People will remember you as that person who did something remarkable. Many of the people I talk to on Twitter are amazed with the fact that I am a teenager. That’s my remarkable story (maybe a book that gets published in 2014). People will remember you for your remarkable story as well.

A remarkable story can be the difference between eager visitors and visitors who are not fully sold on the concept of your blog and products. What’s your story?

10 Tactics To Get A Spike In Traffic

January 16, 2014 by Marc Guberti 5 Comments

More people than ever are trying to get the big spike in traffic. The spike in traffic will result in a few days of a dramatic increase in traffic. Then, those numbers decline, but the average daily visits is greater than it was before the spike in traffic. At the end of 2013, my average traffic for a day was about 150 views. Four days after Christmas, I got over 400 views. When the New Year came, my traffic settled down to over 250 views a day.

The number of daily views my blog got doubled within days, and in order to experience similar results, you need to implement these 5 tactics to get that spike in traffic that will allow more people to know about your blog.

  1. Have a big following on your social networks. My Twitter and Pinterest accounts were the biggest contributors towards my blog’s spike in traffic. On the day my blog got oer 400 views, Twitter referred over 150 people to my blog and Pinterest referred over 50 people to my blog.
  2. Frequently post on social networks. I tweet every hour and pin every day. My traffic from Pinterest always increases when I pin my blog posts. My traffic from Twitter always increases at the start of every hour because that’s when I send out a tweet.
  3. A few days before you want to spike, don’t talk about your blog that much on your social networks. On Christmas Day, I sent out tweets for half of the day about Christmas facts, music, and more. For the other half of the day, I tweeted out my blog posts. I got only 67 views that day which is below my average.
  4. Days after, make sure all of your updates are about your blog. When you do this, you will experience better results when you put your best content forward. Since you weren’t talking about your blog as much, some people may have forgotten about it. Your updates will allow people to remember your blog and be curious about what your blog post is about.
  5. Have strong headlines. The headline of your blog post will be the deciding factor of whether or not someone clicks on the link and visits your blog. Here are some good ways to give your blog posts stronger, attention grabbing headlines.
  6. Connect with others. When you connect with others, many of those people will decide to visit your blog. The more connections you have, the more visitors you are going to get.
  7. Make sure your blog has good SEO. If your blog has good SEO, you will be able to get more traffic from search engines. The better your SEO, the more traffic you are going to get. The search engines are not as reliable as social media, but when some spikes in traffic are a result of good SEO. When you improve your blog’s SEO, you won’t get a dramatic short-term change. The long-term results are what will allow you to see what making small changes can do for your blog.
  8. Have a targeted following. Targeted followers are the people who are interested in the niche that you write about. By having these kinds of followers, you will ensure more traffic.
  9. Write powerful blog posts. The blog posts that go above the call of duty are the blog posts that get more recognition.
  10. Don’t give in. The reason most bloggers don’t get to see the spike in traffic is because they give up too early. In order to get the motivation that will allow you to continue (and eventually see the spike in traffic), you need to look at this picture.

Do you have any tactics that you have used to get a spike in traffic that I didn’t mention? If so, please share with us your tactics below.

How To Get People To Write About You

December 19, 2013 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

There are some very popular blogs out there. If you could have someone on one of those blogs write a blog post about you, that would give you more traffic and visibility. Getting these popular blogs to write blog posts about you is not as challenging as it seems. These are the ways to get people to write about you:

  1. Have a remarkable story. This part is essential towards getting people to write about you. People need to know why you are special.
  2. Get out there. Comment on other people’s blogs, follow more people on your social networks, and thank the people who write about you.
  3. Use Help A Reporter Out. Help A Reporter Out (HARO) is where a lot of media outlets go in order to find certain people. The Huffington Post, Associated Press, NBC, ABC, Forbes, and Mashable are some of the media outlets that use HARO.
  4. Ask for an exchange. Some people will write about you if you write about them. I don’t do exchanges very often, but I am open to them.
  5. Use social media to get out there. Most of the people who have written about me saw my social networks first. Social media is a tool for building awareness for you, your blog, and products.

Get out there in a remarkable way, and people will write about you.
