How To Easily Come Up With A Big Idea

April 14, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Have you been trying to come up with a big idea? We all want to be the person who comes up with the next multimillion (or multibillion) dollar idea that is completely systematized. Many people believe that coming up with that kind of idea is difficult, but it is not nearly as challenging as people think.

When most people think of a big idea, they think of coming up with another Google or another Facebook. While these ideas would be really good ones, they are very hard to think of. Instead of spending countless years trying to think of the idea, focus on the small innovations. A small innovation can be a discount, a different colored product, a similar product with a different function, or anything in general that is slightly different from the competition. Those are the small innovations that are easier to think of that can still have a big impact on you and your business.

The small innovation can result in a big idea. 90% of the products and businesses that we see as big ideas are really small innovations of products and businesses that already existed.

The Only Thing Just As Good As Innovation

March 16, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

innovationbulb

How could there possibly be anything just as good as innovation? That’s what I thought, but sure enough, Seth Godin had the answer in his book, Free Prize Inside. In a world that has been raised to believe that big innovations are the key to success, we forget that small changes resulted in the successes of many companies. We also forget that small changes are just as good as innovation.

Getting rid of a problem is just as good as introducing an innovation. While continuing with new ideas, it is important to pay attention to the problems with your products already out there. One of the problems may be that people cannot contact each other on a membership site. Before creating a training course, you should add a forum to the membership site. The forum solves the problem of members not being able to communicate to each other. In addition, the forum makes the product better.

There are many people who are focused on the growth and expansion of their companies. These people forget about fixing the problems too often, and when problems do not get fixed, they eventually create an outcry. There was an outcry when the public learned that a disgusting pink slime was used to make McNuggets and that Subway’s “fresh” bread included a material that is used to make yoga mats and shoe soles. These outcries forced change, and until the change was made (change in this case most likely means a blue slime or the material that makes car tires), the outcry continued. By making the changes, these fast food restaurants were able to get their customers back.

We are constantly focused on creating new products and making new innovations that people will love. While we create new products and make innovations, it is also important to fix the problems in existing products. Fixing existing problems will result in a better customer experience and more sales.

A New Way To Look At Quitting

February 8, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

We have been taught to stick with things and that quitting is never the right option. There are many inspirational quotes about never quitting and sticking with the task at hand. However, not everything we get taught is always correct.

When people think about sticking with something and not quitting under any circumstances, they are thinking of quitting at the moment. Deciding to quit while doing the work is quitting at the moment. By creating the circumstances that would make you quit before those circumstances actually come up, you will be able to quit strategically.

Some goals are worth pursuing. Other goals will result in you losing time and money. We need to pay more attention to whether or not we are going to accomplish a goal before we start. Starting and not finishing results in a loss in time and in numerous cases, money.

Instead of sticking with something you know you won’t be able to accomplish, you can quit. By quitting that certain goal, you will open up more time for yourself so you can accomplish your more important goals. By investing more time into the goals that matter, you will be able to get them accomplished faster and become the best of your niche.

We have been taught that winners never quit. They do, and some of them quit often. There is a difference between quitting in the moment and strategically quitting. Quitting in the moment is not helpful, but strategically quitting can be the difference between a powerful business and a flop.

Three Powerful Books That Will Transform Your Business

January 4, 2014 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

stack of books

There are a lot of business books out there that are about a variety of things. Some business books deal with staying on top of the competition, the science that goes into business, tips for a niche, and so on. Out of all of the books I have read, these three books really stood out, and if you really want to kickstart the New Year, I recommend getting these books:

  1. Purple Cow: Seth Godin reveals how numerous businesses were able to go from normal to remarkable. Safe is no longer safe. In order to be noticed, you have to be risky. Purple Cow has received praise from numerous marketers, and over 200,000 copies have been sold
  2. The Pumpkin Plan: This plan will show you how to turn any business into a successful one. Mike Michalowicz used this plan to create three powerful businesses, and one of them was sold to a Fortune 500 Business. The Pumpkin Plan is all about getting more clients, treating them right, and watching the results come in.
  3. The 12 Week Year: This book will allow you to be more productive than your competitors. The 12 Week Year is a solid plan that will bring a sense of urgency in everything that you do. A year is no longer 12 months. It’s only 12 weeks.

Hall Of Fame Achievements

October 15, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

I recently read one of Seth Godin’s blog posts called Your hall of fame. It was a very inspirational post (as they all are).

The truth is that we’re all Hall Of Famers already. We all have legendary achievements. You don’t have to be in Cooperstown to be a Hall Of Famer. You don’t have to be famous in order to be a Hall Of Famer.

Hall Of Fame achievements can go from publishing your first book to setting the standard for your industry. We all have Hall Of Fame achievements. It’s important to consistently recall all of those Hall Of Fame achievements so you can look at your past successes as you propel yourself forward to future success.

I Recently Had The Honor Of Meeting

September 18, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Seth Godin, Ramon Ray, and Carly Strife at the Small Biz Big Things expo in New York City.

Many people are using the “I had the honor of meeting,” and then the list of names with pictures goes on and on. I’m going to be doing that as well, but there is a more important goal to reach.

It’s nice to have the honor of meeting a lot of renowned people. However, you should also make sure people are honored to actually meet you. The only way to do that is to love what you do and effectively do what you love.

You can still have the honor of meeting so and so. After you meet a lot of honorable people, it’s time for you to make a lot of people want to meet you and consider that meeting an honor.
