5 Proven Methods To Get More Retweets On Twitter

November 3, 2013 by Marc Guberti 7 Comments

Twitter is a powerful social network, and retweets are an important factor towards how well you do on Twitter. Although it helps, you don’t need a giant following in order to get more retweets. You can get more retweets with under 100 followers. These are the 5 proven methods to get more retweets on Twitter:

  1. Add good pictures because they make a difference. If you average 1 retweet per tweet, the picture is going to get you 5 or more retweets if it’s really good.
  2. Tweet inspirational quotes. When I first started on Twitter, I wasn’t getting retweets for any of the blog posts (including ones not on this blog) I tweeted about. The tweets that were getting retweeted were the inspirational quotes. Now I send out 4 inspirational quotes every day, and a majority of those tweets get retweeted as well.
  3. If you decide you need to build a following in order to get more retweets, make sure your followers are interested in what you tweet about. Twellow is a great Twitter directory which breaks down its millions of members into different categories. You can find all of the social media experts, sports fans, and anyone else you would like to find. If those people are interested in what you tweet about, they are very likely to retweet what you tweet as well.
  4. #Use #Hashtags because they have been proven to get more retweets. These statistics provided by HubSpot prove my point. However, it’s important that you don’t use too many hashtags in a single tweet. My recommendation is to never go over two hashtags in a tweet.
  5. Tweet consistently because people need to see you. The more people see you, the more they will trust you. If you have one of Apple’s products, you probably bought it because you’ve seen Apple a lot. You’ve seen them in the commercials and their retail stores (which always seem to be crowded). When people see you on your timeline a lot, you are more likely to get retweeted because that trust grows.

Three Characteristics That Make Up The Perfect Tweet

October 16, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Not all tweets are created equal. Some tweets get more retweets and interaction than other tweets. The retweets and interaction have a lot to do with enough people actually seeing the tweet. However, creating the perfect tweet is possible. However, the perfect tweet differs for each Twitter user.

The perfect tweet can mean taking advantage of a trending topic and say something humorous about that trending topic. The perfect tweet could be a link to a great blog post. There are different ways to tweet the perfect tweet, but there are three characteristic that all perfect tweets have.

The first characteristic of a perfect tweet is that people need to be interested in the topic you tweet about. The news stories get retweeted because many people want to know about what’s going on. A poorly done Vine video won’t get a lot of attention. However, you can’t tweet for everyone. There are a lot of social media enthusiasts, but if you tweet about social media, there is a real possibility that someone you’re tweeting out to isn’t a social media enthusiast. As long as you get attention from a majority of your followers, you’re tweet is going to get retweeted a lot.

The second characteristic of a perfect tweet is that your tweet must be easy to understand. Stuffing a tweet with hashtags makes the tweet more difficult to understand. A tweet with typos is going to be difficult to understand as well. If someone gets confused when they read a tweet, that tweet is not a perfect tweet. If one person gets confused by a tweet, chances are other people will be confused by that tweet as well.

The third characteristic of a perfect tweet is that the tweeter or one of the first people to retweet that tweet is very popular. Some people are going to disagree with this third characteristic since popularity doesn’t decide how good a tweet is written. A perfect tweet is one that is a tweet of quality and a tweet that gets shared a lot. The perfect tweet cannot be the greatest secret. If it were a secret, it wouldn’t be perfect. Popularity will result in more retweets, and more retweets will result in more people knowing about you.

It’s very important that you don’t view popularity as being the big guy with 100,000 followers. You can be popular with only 500 followers that read every tweet you send out and retweet as many of your tweets as they can. When it comes to popularity, it isn’t a quantity game. It’s a quality game.

Those are the three characteristics that make up a perfect tweet. Think about these characteristics as you send out or schedule your tweets today so you can end up with the next perfect tweet.

20 Proven Methods To Get More Twitter Followers

October 5, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Here is the giant list of ways to get more followers on Twitter. It is up to you to implement what is on the list:

  1. Tweet regularly.
  2. Tweet consistently.
  3. Follow people with good follow back ratios.
  4. Follow back your followers.
  5. Retweet other people’s tweets.
  6. Don’t primarily focus on tweeting what you want to tweet. Focus on tweeting what your followers want to see. You’ll get more retweets and influence this way.
  7. Promote your Twitter account on other social networks.
  8. Say something very clever about a trending topic. This will get you a lot of retweets and exposure.
  9. See when your followers are on Twitter by using Tweriod so you can figure out when to send out your best tweets. If your followers always see your best, they will continue to follow you and spread the word.
  10. Be patient. If you get 20 followers every day, you’ll get 7,300 followers every year. You’ll get more followers per day as you get more followers though.
  11. Focus on quality. Buying Twitter followers will accomplish the job of giving you more Twitter followers, but fake followers aren’t going to help your ideas spread on Twitter or any social network. The quality followers are the ones you build upon.
  12. Do something creative. Don’t do what everyone else is doing. Be different on Twitter, and in what you do, and you’ll get more followers.
  13. Start conversations because people need a reason to talk with you and tell their friends about you.
  14. Be quick and reliable. If you aren’t replying to an important tweet within 30 minutes with an accurate response, that’s not good enough because the average person is only using Twitter 23 minutes every day.
  15. Have a good bio. People need to know about you before they decide to click the follow button.
  16. Have a picture of YOU. The people with hundreds of thousands (or millions) of real followers have pictures of themselves. There are few exceptions, and for the exceptions, not all of their followers are real. If you’re afraid to put a picture of yourself on social media or the web, you’ll be afraid of doing the incredible.
  17. Tweet popular content. You can see how popular a link is right now with the URL shortener, Bitly.
  18. Look at the statistics. If one of your links is getting clicked like crazy, tweet that link tomorrow as well.
  19. Use TwitterCounter to find out when you gained the most amount of followers. By figuring this out, you’ll be able to identify what you did on a particular day that led to the best result.
  20. Tweet quality content. It’s good to tweet what other people want to see, but if you can combine that with quality, you have the winning formula.

How To Tweet Your Way To Glory

September 16, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Everyone is looking for ways to get more followers. Some people are close to 1,000 followers, other people are close to 10,000 followers, and there are some people who are also close to 100,000 followers. In order to get those followers, you need to keep on tweeting. However, not all tweets are tweeted equal. There are some ways to get more followers just by using those 140 characters well.

The first way to tweet your way to glory is to use RT or r/t at the end of some of your tweets. These tweets can be links to really good articles or links to your blog posts. If you include RT or r/t at the end of your tweet, your tweet is more likely to get retweeted.

The second way to tweet your way to glory is to tweet inspirational quotes every once in a while. I tweet once an hour, and four of those tweets are inspirational quotes. Many of my tweets that are inspirational quotes are retweeted.

The third way to tweet your way to glory is to capitalize the first letter of every word for the title of a blog post or article. If you decide to share this article on Twitter, the best way to share it is by tweeting, “How To Tweet Your Way To Glory: LINK” Note that even the “To’s are capitalized. Capitalize the first letter of every word if you are copying the title from a blog or article.

The fourth way to tweet your way to glory is to tweet frequently and consistently. If you always tweet at a certain time, people will know when you will tweet. If you tweet every hour like I do, you will constantly appear on your followers’ timelines. When someone is following 5,000 people, and you only tweet once a day, that follower won’t see your tweet if they login 5 minutes later. Tweet frequently and consistently.

The fifth way to tweet your way to glory is to start conversation. When you start conversations, and they continue for a long period of time, you are more likely to get a customer or someone who subscribes to your blog.

Go forth and tweet your way to glory.
