Why You Need To Include Videos In Some Of Your Blog Posts

July 26, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Video

There are going to be some instances when your visitors will not feel like reading a blog post. Even if you make your paragraphs bite-sized, there will be some instances when your visitors will prefer to watch a video. Going from reading to watching allows the reader (now a viewer) to absorb more information just by listening.

If you are occasionally sharing your own videos in your blog posts, there are other benefits that occur. The first one is that you get more views for your videos. Getting more views will make your videos look more popular, and if those are YouTube videos, you will also be able to get more subscribers.

Imagine what would happen if your YouTube channel got 100 views every day. Then, imagine if it was more than that. Your YouTube presence would probably grow dramatically. Embedding your YouTube videos on your blog is a powerful way to grow your YouTube presence and get more engagement on your blog at the same time. This is a simple blogging and YouTube tip that few people implement, but implementing this tip will lead to better results for your blog and YouTube channel.

What are your thoughts on including YouTube videos in your blog posts? Please share your thoughts below.

Why You Should Recycle Your Blog Posts

July 24, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Recycle Blog Posts

Recycling blog posts is a practice with no in between. Some people love it while others never want to recycle or think about recycling their blog posts. Just like numerous other people, I was skeptical about recycling blog posts. I did not want to write the same thing twice because I thought people would be disinterested in reading same blog post twice.

I had this view towards recycling blog posts until I learned that The New York Times recycles its content. Some stories on The New York Times get so much attention that the publisher publishes those same stories in future newspapers. Using the same story twice saves time (The New York Times already has one story written for the week) and allows The New York Times to get the same kind of attention they got when they published the story the first time.

Now, let’s go back to recycling blog posts. The practice looks much better knowing that The New York Times is one of the newspapers that recycles its content. As a blogger with many things to do, recycling content can save you time. As your blog gets older, there will be some blog posts that once got a lot of attention but are now long forgotten. You can bring these blog posts back to life by writing and publishing them again.

No matter how valuable any blog post is, most readers are going to gradually forget the tips and methods from the blog post. A blog post about 10 Twitter tips that was published two years ago will be long forgotten. If you are pressed for time to write a blog post, you can recycle that long forgotten blog post that provided people with value. When the recycled blog post gets published, it still provides value, but this time it gets more attention, and more people remember the value of that blog post (at least, for now).

Recycling blog posts allows you to save time while giving your readers valuable blog posts. It is still important to update your blog with new content, but recycling blog posts is a great method to remind people about valuable information they may have forgotten.

The Best Way To Think Of More Blog Posts To Write

July 24, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Blog Post Idea Box

Chances are if you are like me, you get the occasional writer’s block bug. There are some days when I wish I could take a day off from blogging, but then there would be an indelible gap in my consistency. Each time I feel writer’s block coming by, I know I have to get out of the trance as soon as possible. I decided to look back at how homework gets done in school for inspiration.

Some of us were (or are) really good at consistently doing their homework the night before. It has received its fair share of criticism, but people continued (or still continue) doing homework the night before anyway. Doing something the night before the due date has been highly criticized. Doing the work the night before is not the right option. Planning the night before is the good (and better) option.

Now, I write all of the ideas for my blog posts when I am too tired to write new ones. For me, that would time would be at midnight when I am just too tired to write a valuable blog post. Getting the ideas at night gives me a head start for tomorrow (unless I stay up past midnight. Then the head start rolls in within a few hours).

Writing a blog post the night before it is due will result in rushed content that does not provide as much value to the reader. These kinds of blog posts get poorly constructed just so the blogger stays consistent and can say that he/she has been consistent for years. Gathering your ideas the night before so you can prepare for tomorrow will help in the quest to eliminate writer’s block.

7 Steps To Increase The Amount Of Time Someone Watches Your YouTube Video

July 23, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

video retention rate

Many people are looking for ways to get more views on YouTube. These people believe that views play a big factor in going viral and allowing their content to spread. That used to be the case, but few people know that views are no longer the big factor towards going viral and allowing content to spread.

Now it’s the amount of time someone watches your YouTube video.

That means you can get 1 million views, but if people only watch 10 seconds of your video, then it is not engaging people in a way that YouTube would start to pay attention (and promote your video). Time retention, not views, is now the key to going viral on YouTube. In order to increase the amount of time people watch your videos, follow these seven steps.

  1. Get more people to subscribe to your channel. Did you know that subscribers watch your videos longer than anyone else? I didn’t know either until I saw some videos on YouTube Creator Academy.
  2. Have a professional introduction. Your introduction is the deciding point of your YouTube videos. The more professional your introduction is, the more people will enjoy your video.
  3. Have an incredible channel trailer. Believe it or not, there are some people who will not know who you are. You need to have an incredible channel trailer that sums up who you are in an effective manner.
  4. Make your videos shorter. Just to put it simply, would you rather watch a 1 hour video or a 1 minute video? The shorter your videos are, the more likely people will be to watch to the end.
  5. Have two camera angles. That way, it is okay to mess up. You can continue your video with the second camera. The moment you realize your babbling in your YouTube video, you can stop recording from the first camera angle and then record from the second camera angle. If you sound like you are babbling, then people will not bother watching the entire video.
  6. Your videos need to be good. People will not watch a bad video just because it has all of the other factors of getting more retention rate optimized. You need to constantly practice on improving your videos. They may be valuable now, but how can you make them more valuable.
  7. Show people that you are popular. Most people still believe viewership has a big impact on how YouTube ranks videos. That means most people think that popularity is measured by the number of views a YouTube video has. If your YouTube videos have thousands of views, people will watch those videos from start to finish just because thousands of other people have watched those videos as well. Here are some ways to get more YouTube views.

Increasing the amount of time people watch your YouTube videos will allow you to rank higher on YouTube’s search engine where you will be able to access more viewers who can possibly subscribe to your channel. What are your thoughts on this article? Do you have any tips on getting more people to watch your videos longer? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

10 Steps To Your First 1,000 Twitter Followers

July 15, 2014 by Marc Guberti 49 Comments

1000+ Twitter Followers

If you grow a big audience on Twitter, that audience has the potential to dramatically transform your business and get more people to know about you. Many people see growing an audience on Twitter as a challenging process. Some of the people who went through the challenging process now have thousands of followers while others are almost there. Regardless of whether you just started using Twitter or have hundreds of followers, you need to reach 1,000 Twitter followers as soon as possible. Here are the 10 steps that will allow you to get there:

  1. Follow people who are likely to follow back. When you follow people who are likely to follow back, be sure to follow the people who are interested in what you talk about. Take a look at their bios and some of the people they follow to determine whether these people would be interested in what you tweet about or not. Some of the people you follow will feel obligated to follow you back because they do not want to get unfollowed.
  2. Tweet often. Tweeting often is a great way to get noticed. The more you tweet, the more chances you have of getting a retweet. Retweets will allow your content to spread on Twitter and attract more followers.
  3. Tweet valuable content. Tweet the type of content that people would want to retweet. Motivational quotes, incredible articles, and videos are some of the things that people would want to retweet.
  4. Tweet with pictures. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. Tweeting with a picture will add more value to your tweet and boost your engagement. Tweets with pictures get 10% more engagement than tweets without pictures.
  5. Get people on your other social networks to follow you on Twitter. Your Facebook friends, people in your Google Plus circles, and Pinterest followers are some of the audiences who would follow you on Twitter. When you are trying to build an audience on your other social networks, you need to tell the audience you already have about your new account for a social network.
  6. Have conversations with others. Conversations allow you to build connections with your followers. You can also have conversations with people who are interested in what you do and can become a potential follower. It is easy to turn potential followers into followers. They just need to know about you, and having conversations with these people is a great way for them to learn about you. Here are some tips for starting a conversation on Twitter.
  7. Retweet other people’s tweets. If you are not retweeting a tweet once every week, then you are using Twitter wrong (if you’re going through my tweets…then you know what to do). When you retweet someone else’s tweet, that person will be grateful. If you retweet enough of someone’s tweets, that person will show their appreciation by following you. In addition, some people will follow you because they want their tweets to get retweeted as well.
  8. Pin your most popular tweet. Pinning your most popular tweet only allows that tweet to become more popular. When potential followers see your popular tweet, the tweet will automatically grab their attention, and then those people will follow you. A popular tweet indicates someone is popular on Twitter, and people tend to follow the accounts that are popular.
  9. Promote your Twitter account on your blog. Have a giant follow button on your blog that allows people to follow you on Twitter. Better yet, make sure people can follow you on Twitter without leaving your blog. This allows the connection to build.
  10. Get interviewed and interview others. The people who you interview or get interviewed by will tell their audience about you. Some of the people from those audiences will decide to follow you on Twitter. Here are some useful tips to finding people you can interview, getting them to accept the interview, and get people to interview you.

By implementing these steps, you will gain more Twitter followers every day. As you continue to gain more Twitter followers, you will eventually reach 1,000 followers. Surpassing the thousand mark is a big milestone that shows other people that you have the potential to thrive on Twitter. Having 1,000 Twitter followers puts you in the Top 5% of all of Twitter (based on the number of followers you have). That is a big accomplishment, and it is an accomplishment you will be able to realize by putting in the work. What are your thoughts on these steps? Do you have any additional steps you use to get more Twitter followers? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

7 Ways To Get More Followers On Vine Fast

July 13, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

vine followers

Although Vine is not as big as Twitter or Facebook, it has millions of members that generate a lot of engagement. When Instagram came out with its 15 second video loop, many people thought that Vine was dead. Remember when people tweeted out things like, “Vine (2013-2013)?” Those days are over, and people are now searching for ways to get more followers on Vine. Speaking of getting more followers on Vine, here are seven ways that you can do that.

  1. Follow other people. I follow the people who are following those “I Follow Back” accounts. Vine is the only social network that I do this for, but it works. On a typical day, when I follow enough people, I am able to gain 300 followers every day. This even happened when I didn’t send a Vine for an entire month. I just continued to follow these people’s followers to grow my audience.
  2. Post 1 Vine every day. Although the first method grows your following without requiring you to post on Vine, you will be able to spread faster on Vine by posting often. The people with millions of followers on Vine are the ones who post new vines consistently. Their audience shares their content and ultimately results in the vines spreading. If people who happen to see your vines think they are good, then those people will decide to follow you.
  3. Tweet out your vines. Tweets with vines get more engagement than the tweets without vines. In addition, you get to tap into the audience that you already built on Twitter. If you continue tweeting your vines, your Vine audience will grow as your Twitter audience grows.
  4. Tell your friends about your Vine account. Your friends may be the first ones to like and revine your vines (which allows your vines to spread). The likes and revines may not come right away, but if you tell enough of your friends about your vines, some of those friends will help your vines spread.
  5. Get a group of friends together and do vines together. It seems as if there multiple groups of famous viners who happen to know each other and appear in each other’s vines. If you get a group of friends together to do the same thing, you will all have each other’s audiences. If you get five of your friends who have 1,000 followers each, that’s an audience of 5,000. As you tag each other in various vines, members of the audience will learn to enjoy your vines and your friends’ vines.
  6. Use Instagram. Vine allows you to create 6 second videos that repeat in a loop, but they do not allow you to take pictures. Instagram is the solution. When you need to take a picture, take one with Instagram. Then, be sure to tell people on Vine to follow you on Instagram. The more social networks people follow you on, the less likely they will be to forget about you.
  7. Comment on other people’s vines. Leaving comments on other people’s vines is an easy way to get noticed. When you comment on other people’s vines, don’t just ask for a shoutout or a follow back. Instead, leave a relevant comment. Leaving a relevant comment will also boost your chances of getting another follower.

Growing your audience on Vine does not have to be impossible. Most of the people on Vine with over 1 million followers are teenagers. Anyone has the ability to thrive on Vine if they know how. Implementing these methods will allow you to build a big audience on Vine fast.
