The Only ‘Benefit’ Of Being Like The Competition: Being An Unknown

June 28, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

You will get lost. The competition has more money to spend than you, and they also have more resources. Facebook copied Twitter’s hashtags and added videos to Instagram. It’s practically stealing an idea.

Although Facebook was able to get away with it to some degree, you won’t be able to get away with it. No one will publicly say what they thought about your decision because they won’t know who you are.

If anyone created cars and challenged Toyota by being just like Toyota, car buyers would go to Toyota over your car company. Copying someone else’s work won’t look good for your business, and people will forget about you.

Do something that none of the competition wouldn’t even dare to do. Being an entrepreneur does involve making some risks and hoping that they pay off. Cutting down client size or spending more time on Social Media instead of blogging are risks that some entrepreneurs will have to take.

Do all risks pay off? No, but they make you different from the competition. If you are different from your competition, you will get visitors and returning customers.

There’s A Fork In The Road

June 28, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Picking it up is not an option. A fork in the road represents two ways that you can go. Both represent uncertain futures, but you know why you went in that direction.

There are two roads. There is the common road and the road to success. If we all knew how to be successful, we would all take the road to success. However, the road to success is the one filled with obstacles.

Going through a forest and trying to get out is much harder than taking the common road. This is why a lot of people take the common road. The obstacles proved to be too difficult for them.

When you do get out of the forest, there will be a treasure chest waiting. Open it, and you will find valuables of all kinds. Success is harder to achieve than being a common person, but success is worth it.

There Is No Reason To Overwork

June 27, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are a lot of people who overwork to get what they want. Some people are putting in 15 hours a day to keep their businesses alive. Revenue could be pouring in, or there could be no revenue pouring in.

If you find yourself spending 15 hours a day on your business and making little revenue for yourself, you need to change the way you work. We are creatures of habit, and change can be annoying as I described in my post about dramatic changes.

However, those changes will have to happen. Cut off some hours you work by addressing how you waste your time working. Talking to the same person who doesn’t care for your business is unproductive.

There are plenty of things that you are doing wrong if you are working for 15 hours a day without getting much revenue. Overworking also prevents you from doing more important things such as growing your business.

Why You Should Guest Blog On Other Blogs

June 27, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Have you ever thought of guest blogging? I started to think about guest blogging last week. I use HARO to find places where I could do guest posts. I enjoy reading the emails I get from HARO telling me what media outlets want.

I am getting traffic to this blog, and people are sharing my content, but guest blogging allowed me to go a step further. I was delighted to see my first guest post get approved on Business2Community. The blog post was about whether or not you should follow back on Twitter. The post has been shared over 10 times which is really good for me.

Guest blogging allows you to reach more people through different people’s blogs. You can link back to your blog or your social network accounts on your bio. The best part is that your name appears on another website. The more times your name appears on other blogs and websites, the better it is for your SEO.

Guest blogging has the potential to dramatically improve your business, but only if you use it wisely.

Expect The Unexpected

June 26, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

When people are constant, we keep on expecting that same consistency. If someone doesn’t do enough work for a long period of time, we can expect that person to continue in his or her path. If there are no thunderstorms for an entire week, we can expect that there won’t be another thunderstorm the next day.

Sometimes, you should expect the unexpected. The thunderstorm may happen. The unproductive person may go from bust to superstar.

The porcupine can float on water, and Apple can go from near bankruptcy to a multibillion dollar company.

The Dramatic Change Irritation

June 26, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Less than a week ago, I was up at Saratoga. There are a lot of things to do in Saratoga, and when the horses are racing, Saratoga is packed. I went to Saratoga before all of the horse races.

One thing at Saratoga that different from where I lived were so many more trees. There were so many trees that some parts of Saratoga looked like a forest. These trees surrounded both sides of the road.

I was shocked. At first, I wondered about the animals that lurked in the area. Then I realized that the people of Saratoga are fine with the trees and open land. Someone who goes to New York City for the first time might be taken out of their comfort zone considering how many skyscrapers are in New York City.

What residents of an area call normal may seem abnormal to a tourist. The tourist may not welcome the rapid amount of changes that occur as they travel from one place to the other.

These changes are necessary because they allow us to quickly adapt to rapid changes in our business.
