Whether through the comic books, animated series, or movies on the big screen, we have all had our fair share of seeing superheroes in action. Maybe you’ve even heard them mentioned on The Big Bang Theory. The reason we watch superheroes is not because they perfect. Instead, it is quite the opposite.

If superheroes were perfect, they would be boring. No matter what angle you look at it, no superhero is perfect. Kyrptonite makes Superman powerless while some enemies were able to defeat Batman the first time (but almost never the second time).

No matter how much we try (or how close we think we are), we will never be able to reach perfection. The reason superheroes appear to be perfect is because they are closer than the average person to perfection. They may be far off from perfection, but just for the pure fact that they are closer to perfection makes them seem perfect.

Superheroes are the good outliers. They are so different from everyone else that they seem to be perfect. Being an outlier separates them from the rest. The #1 person always appears to be perfect, but that is not always the case. The #1 person on social media may not know about a new Google+ update.

Focusing on being perfect will stagnate your business. You can’t be everything for everyone. Instead of worrying about being perfect, superheroes just put on their costumes, go out there, and get the job done in an effective manner. Although the superhero succeeds in most cases, there are some times when the superhero fails miserably. The failure is a temporary setback that the superhero does not dwell upon. After the failure, superheroes put on the costume and try again to get the job done. Sometimes, they use a different approach to get the same job done.

It’s okay to make a mistake. If superheroes can do what they do and make mistakes, then you can make some mistakes as well. Even the perfectionists find something wrong with their products after the same product has been analyzed for months. Perfectionists are the ones who look at the small piece of dust (that can easily be moved) on the best painting in the art gallery. Perfection is impossible. Not thinking about perfection and becoming successful is very possible. In fact, it’s common.

We all want to be successful. We all want to be at the front of the stampede. In How To Be Successful On Twitter, I talked about being successful on Twitter. In this blog post, I am going to give you the blueprint that will allow you to become successful–in general. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Power Of One. The more we stretch ourselves, the less we are able to accomplish. Instead of being in multiple niches, focus on one of those niches. Running 1 successful business is much easier and better off than running 10 mediocre businesses.
Build powerful connections. Social networks are great ways to build connections with your customers. You want to know who your customers are because that will make the customer feel special. The customer did you a favor in buying your product. Of course, your product does them a favor as well, but buying your product shows that the customer has faith in you. Thank the customers for buying your products and engage with them on social networks. Building powerful connections with others can lead to future customers down the road.
Have the determination and dedication. You won’t be able to go far without having both. The determination will keep you on the right path while being dedicated will allow you to love what you do. If you do not have determination and dedication, the best way to get them is to change your mindset. As Joel Osteen says, instead of having the victim mindset, have the victor mindset.

I’d love to go on, but those are the main three. I may add on to this list in the future (and maybe turn that into a book after I publish Lead The Stampede). This is a basic list, but success is a big thing to achieve. At the start of a journey, it is better to learn the basics than it is to be overwhelmed by too much information. Are you utilizing the newest social network on the web to get more social media followers? Some people have not mastered the ability to record a video in 6 seconds. Others have gained millions of followers on multiple social networks because they have mastered the art of creating a 6-second video on Vine. Whether you know how to create a good 6-second video or not, the amount of followers you gain on Vine will have an impact on how popular you are on Vine.

If you have a big following, people will gravitate towards you and see what you are all about. The more popular you become on Vine, the more people will pay attention to your six-second videos. Before you thrive on Vine, you need to build the credibility and get the big following first. In order to grow your following on Vine, follow these 5 tips:

#1: Scroll down your home page and use Vine’s search to find and like vines. Liking vines is the best way to get more followers without following back. The more vines you like, the more people are going to follow back. However, not everyone will follow you because you like their vines. Be sure to like the vines of viners who are very likely to follow back. Also, don’t like every Vine in existence.

Only like the vines that are relevant to the vines that you either post now or plan on posting in the future. That way, you’ll be growing a targeted audience of people who will appreciate your content instead of a big number of people not interested in what you post.

If you gave me the option of having 10,000 targeted followers or 100,000 non-targeted followers, I’ll choose the 10,000 targeted followers on any day and on any social network.

#2: Find a popular viner in your niche and follow that person’s followers. When you do this, be sure to only follow the followers who are very likely to follow you back. As you get more follow backs, you will get more engagement for your 6-second videos. As you gain an audience and continue posting Vines that people love, your followers will share your Vines more often, thus allowing you to reach a larger audience.

Similarly to before, you must keep your niche in mind. If you follow one of those #FollowBack accounts, you will get a lot of Vine followers. However, these people will care more about the size of their audiences than your Vines.

Building a targeted audience will help you succeed and get more Vine followers because now that you have people who are genuinely interested in your Vines, you’ll get more engagement for each of your Vines. That results in more visibility in Vine’s search engine.

#3: Post vines frequently.

The most popular people on Vine are posting at least one vine every day. By posting frequently, you are more likely to get engagement for your vines. As the engagement for your vines increase, more people will hear about you and decide to follow you. The best part is that if you consistently post vines every day, the people in your audience will know when to check in for a new 6-second video.

The people who take massive action are those who get rewarded. If you are posting inconsistently, you risk being forgotten about.

#4: Post quality vines.

There is a fine difference between a good 6-second video and a bad 6-second video. The vines that tend to get shared the most are funny vines. However, humor is not the only area of society that dominates Vine. You don’t need to have or show your sense of humor to dominate Vine. You can also create a quality Vine by displaying information or creating a list using index cards.

For some of my Vines where I provide social media advice, I’ll write each method on an index card and focus the camera on those index cards.

For other Vines, I talk in front of the camera and say a motivational thought. With just six seconds of my time, I am able to motivate thousands of people.

#5: Use your other social networks to spread the word.

By using the social networks you have already built a strong presence on to spread the word about your vines, you will attract more people from your existing audience to your 6-second vines. Your vines then get put in front of a larger audience that already appreciates what you do. Their added engagement will allow your vines to rank better on Vine’s search engine thus exposing your vine to more people.

Each time you post a new Vine, the social network will give you the option to share your Vine on Twitter. Enabling that option gives you the link which you can promptly share on Facebook, Pinterest, and others.

If you do enough Vines in a given week, you can combine all of the Vines together into one YouTube video. Within that YouTube video, show your Vine username at the bottom of the video so your viewers know where to get more of your Vines.

In Conclusion

Even though Vine’s 6-second videos make it very different from other social networks, the rules of getting more followers are similar. Getting the audience and interacting with that audience will lead to more followers and engagement on Vine.

The One Fear That Brings Forth Success

When we think about fear, we think about that monster in between the hero and the castle (let’s throw in a princess trapped inside the castle). We always look at fear as a bad thing. We’ve heard many inspirational quotes such as, “You need to decide that your desire to succeed is greater than your fear in order to become successful.”

In many cases, fear is that monster blocking you from the castle. Fear stops people from making progress. We see fear as the tiny voice that says, “You can’t.”

Fear has driven some people towards success. The one fear that brings forth success is the fear of hitting rock bottom. This is the moment when someone does not care about being #1 right away. Instead, that person cares about not falling all the way behind.

There are a lot of sources of motivation, but fear can be one of them. This blog post was not written to tell you to get yourself into rock bottom so you can be motivated. This blog post was written to make you think about what common weaknesses you can turn into strengths. During my interview with Mike Michalowicz, I was amazed to learn that fear drove him towards his success. It was the fear of living in a retirement home for the rest of his life that motivated him to be successful. It was that fear that resulted in three multimillion dollar businesses, two bestselling books, and one book coming out soon.

20 Ways To Get More Views On YouTube

YouTube gets over 1 billion unique visitors every month. However, there are many videos on YouTube that don’t have over 100 views. In fact, some YouTube videos have not been viewed at all. In order to gain a powerful presence on YouTube, your videos need to get viewed more often. Here are 20 different ways to get more people viewing your YouTube videos.

Publish videos at a consistent basis. I publish a video every Saturday at 9 am EST.
Tell people about your videos using your other social networks. When I tweeted about my YouTube videos, the number of views I got on my YouTube videos tripled.
Have links to older YouTube videos in your new videos. You may decide to add some links in the middle of the video. However, you should always have links to your older YouTube videos at the end of your older ones just like Brussup.
Tell people to subscribe to your channel at the end of your videos. Once someone subscribes to your channel, that person is more likely to watch any videos you upload in the future.
Have a link of one of your older videos in your new video’s description. Make sure both of the videos are similar to each other before you do this.
Host a giveaway on YouTube. This will get you more subscribers, views, and comments.
Comment on other people’s videos. Doing this gives you backlinks on YouTube. Make the decision to comment on 5 videos every day about your niche.
Promote your YouTube videos on your blog. I have a page on my blog with some of my videos.
Create a prelaunch plan for your video in which you tell people about your video on your social networks before it launches.
Contact popular blogs and give them exclusive access to your video before it launches.
Write blog posts dedicated to your YouTube channel.
Organize your videos on your channel so your visitors can easily access your videos based on their desired topics and subtopics.
Create a YouTube video with a list. People love lists.
See what kinds of videos are getting a lot of views in your niche and create videos about similar topics.
Ask the experts what allowed them to become successful on YouTube. You never know what you will learn.
