The Positive Effects of Blogging Frequency3

Some people say you have to blog every day. Other people say you shouldn’t blog every day. No one questions the fact that consistency is essential, but many people question frequency.

If you were to ask me, I would recommend that you blog every day. I blog twice a day, and most of the blogs I am subscribed to get updated daily. Some blogs get updated more than once a day.

However, I understand the argument that other people are making. The people who don’t believe in daily blogging say that weekly blogging can result in a better blog post. There’s more time to proofread, add more information, and systematizing those blogs are a lot easier.

If you tried looking for the answer on Google, you would see some bloggers who say you must blog every day while other bloggers will say you shouldn’t be blogging every day. The only way you can decide is with experience.

Showing Up Consistently Is Half The Battle

You can show up. People will show up to the gym while other people will show up at the nearby business expo. People show up, but do they do it consistently.

The person who showed up at the gym feels honored. They actually showed up. Then, that person goes home. That person still feels honored and says, “I deserve a day off.”

After the day off, all of the excuses start to surface. “I have to meet up with someone. I’m having friends over. My favorite TV show is on. The gym is too far away,” and other excuses similar to those start to surface.

A new blogger may send out 5 blog posts but forget to send out another blog post for the entire week. That new blogger showed up, but that new blogger didn’t show up consistently.

All of the people we know who are successful didn’t only show up. They showed up consistently. If Huffington Post didn’t come out with a new blog post, everyone would know about it. If Techcrunch decided to take the day off, we would notice. If Google didn’t work all of a sudden after consistently working for so long, we would know about it. In fact, that happened recently.

It’s time for us to reevaluate what it means to show up. Showing up doesn’t mean showing up, leaving, and never coming back. Showing up does not mean half of the battle is done. Showing up consistently on a daily or weekly basis is half of the battle. I won’t know the potential of my blog if I decided to stop blogging.

Showing up consistently is half of the battle. After months or even years of consistently showing up, you will see the results and reap the benefits.

Systematizing YouTube

Is not as difficult as it sounds. So far, I have 2 videos on my channel about social media, and I plan to be adding many more within the upcoming months. Systematizing our business has no longer become something awesome. It has turned itself into a necessity. We need to systematize some things so we can focus on other things.

A book is systematized once it is finished. Tweets can be systematized (but only for a few days at most), and blog posts can be systematized as well. However, YouTube is a powerful social network that can be systematized as well. Out of all of these options, I found that systematizing YouTube was the easiest.

Not only is it easy, but it will also increase your traffic dramatically–if you are consistent with YouTube. I have been publishing YouTube videos every Saturday, and I plan to keep it that way. That’s one YouTube video every week, but how could that be systematized?

Since I publish 1 YouTube video every week, I only need to do 52 videos every year. This means if finish all 52 videos in one month, you have 11 months when you don’t have to worry about YouTube at all. Just schedule your videos on the exact day and time you want them to be published.

For other people, this will be even easier. You may only want to do 1 YouTube video every month. All you have to do is 12 videos for the entire year. If you did all 12 of those videos in a week, you would have the entire year to do other things to grow your business.

That’s how you systematize YouTube. The more ways you find to systematize your business, the better. The more you systematize, the less work you have to do every day. After summer, I go back to school, and my schedule gets hectic. That’s why it’s essential for me to systematize any areas of my business that I can. You have reasons as well. No matter what your reasons are, you need to start finding ways to systematize your business.

Relieved Of Duty

That phrase means retirement for some people. Let’s suppose you were going to retire tomorrow (what a scary thought). Would you be happy knowing you were relieved of duty? If you believe you would be overjoyed to be relieved of duty, find another job and opportunity.

Some people don’t retire from their jobs. You may have seen the same 80-year-old cashier a couple of times. Some may say the 80-year-old is just trying to make enough money to keep his/her home. However, if an 80-year-old is still the cashier, that 80-year-old enjoys the job. The thought of being relieved of duty would frighten that 80-year-old.

The 80-year-old wouldn’t feel any relief from being relieved of duty. If you were relieved of duty tomorrow, would you feel relieved? Putting the salary aside, would you feel relieved if you were relieved of duty? Charlie Manuel was relieved of duty as the manager of the Phillies. He’s turning 70 in January. Does he feel relieved? Probably not.

The question isn’t when you will be relieved of duty or what you would do instead. The question is whether or not you would actually be relieved if you were relieved of duty (fired) tomorrow. Would you be relieved or disappointed? Put the salary aside when you answer this question. Payday is not as important as doing what you love.

Make Yourself Noteworthy

The only way to make yourself visible is to be noteworthy. Your product and content should be so good that people would want to talk about it. Not everyone talks about products they like, but some people will.

The only way you get people to talk about your products is by making yourself noteworthy. Give people a reason to talk about you by being unique. When you are unique, you become noteworthy because you have no other competition. Gas stations are competitors. There aren’t going to be a lot of people talking about the gas station across the street.

In order to become noteworthy, you must either beat the competition or go where no competitor has gone. 3D printing would have been a great place to be just a few years ago. Competitors have emerged to claim leadership of the 3D printing business. When a competitor claims leadership, that competitor is on the top which makes that competitor noteworthy.

People talk about the things they find noteworthy. If you are noteworthy, people will talk about your business and products.

20 Social Media Statistics That You Need To Know

It’s always difficult to decide which social network you should use. All of the social networks have millions of members. I use Twitter and Pinterest every day. I will be using other social networks every day as well (Instagram, Tumblr, and Google+).

I am not jumping right into those social networks because it’s better to focus on an individual social network. Once I reach 3,000 followers on Pinterest, I’ll incorporate another social network into my business plan (UPDATE: I now have over 3,000 followers on Pinterest).

You may be juggling around social networks, or you don’t know which social network is right for you. These are 20 interesting statistics that will help you decide which social network to use.

  1. Pinterest users spend an average of $180 per purchase which is far greater than any other social network. Facebook users are second at $85.
  2. The fastest growing demographic on Twitter is the 55-64 age bracket.
  3. Companies that generate over 1,000 likes also receive nearly 1,400 visitors on their website a day.
  4. 50% of Twitter users are more likely to purchase from brands they follow.
  5. 80% of pins are repins.
  6. 40% of marketers use Google+.
  7. 45 million photos are uploaded to Instagram every day. That’s 521 photos every second!
  8. Instagram has grown very fast in less than 3 years.
  9. 24% of teenagers who use the web also have Twitter. Some of them are moving from Facebook to Twitter.
  10. Facebook has 665 million users who are active every day.
  11. Over 6 billion hours of video are watched every month.
  12. Companies with over 1,000 followers generate more than 800 visitors to their website every month. I can vouch for that.
  13. Pinterest hit 10 million unique U.S. visitors per month faster than any other website in history. It’s growing, and it’s growing fast.
  14. One out of every 7 minutes spent online is on Facebook.
  15. The average Pinterest user has 171 pins, 229 followers, 3 boards, and 28 likes.
  16. 720 million minutes were spent using Pinterest’s mobile app in 2012.
  17. 60% of Google+ users log in every day while 80% of Google+ users log in every week.
  18. Every minute, 700 YouTube videos are shared on Twitter.
  19. There are 2.1 million LinkedIn groups.
  20. Over 400 million tweets are sent every day.
