You’ll Probably Share This Without Reading The Whole Thing

July 24, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

I'm happy to see you around. You may want to subscribe to my blog. Thanks for visiting!

Welcome back! I am so happy to see that you have come back for more.

Since you are looking at this blog post, you are probably reading it. Chances are you will skim through important parts that are in bold. That’s because when people read a blog post, less than 20% of those people end up reading the entire blog post.

People want to learn as much as they can in a shorter amount of time. When they do that, they sort of get the message and the content. As long as the title looks really good, the content supports the title, and there isn’t anything inappropriate, most people will share it without looking through the entire blog post.

Chances are when you share a blog post, you probably didn’t read the entire blog post. A strong title with a link does the trick in getting clicks and making you the next big thing for a little while. If you didn’t read the entire blog post, chances are that most of your followers won’t read the entire blog post either. They will probably skim through the content just like you did.

There is going to be a blog post about fascinating research. The only problem is that the blog post is the size of a book. This is when most people skim through the important stuff similar to Cliff Notes. You get an idea of what the blog post is about and share it with everyone else. As long as the content you read matches the title, it’s all good.

Did you read this entire blog post, or did you skim this post for the important details?

Everyone Detects Jibber Jabber

July 24, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Not everyone calls it jibber jabber. Some people call it fluff while other people call it by what it is: a waste of time.

Either way, everyone detects jibber jabber. There is a difference between writing words that flow and words that are just meant to take up space on a piece of paper. The jibber jabber makes the research paper bigger than it really is. That book over there suddenly gets an extra 20 pages just because of tons of jibber jabber.

We can all see jibber jabber, so why do some people still do jibber jabber? Our generation wants answers, not road blocks.

Here Come The Side Effects

July 23, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

That medicine seems too good to be true. It solves all of the problems that we have. We will go from “I have this problem” to “I had this problem and got rid of it with this medicine.”

That seems too good to be true. Sadly, it is, but when you listen to a lot of advertisements about different medicines, there are common similarities.

The person speaking in the commercial starts off by talking about the problem. What’s the sickness or condition everyone has? The speaker will talk about that while the visual part of the advertisement shows a person suffering from the sickness or condition.

Then the speaker talks about how good the medicine is. The medicine does this, this, and that. If you have this problem, this medicine will help. These are some of the other things that the medicine does. The visual part of the advertisement shows the person who had the sickness or condition getting up and being able to do more. That person is usually at a vacation with kids, on their own by the countryside, or there is an animal or insect in the advertisement.

That’s a great business tactic. Mention the problem and then follow up with the solution. If you want to generate a lot of revenue and clients, that’s the method you use.

The problem with these advertisers is that they can’t stop there. Someone gets a side effect they didn’t mention, and the advertiser gets sued. Here some the side effects.

While the entire advertisement was going smoothly, the part about the side effects goes really fast. A list of 10-20 side effects is covered in less than 5 seconds. The visual part of the advertisement isn’t showing the person during the side effects. The visual still shows the person enjoying life and being able to do more than they could have without the medicine.

For some advertisers and business owners, there is an ugly side of the story that someone doesn’t want you to hear about. Someone will cover up the ugly side of the story as much as they can, but no matter what they do, that ugly side of the story will always exist.

The Right Time Is Now

July 23, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Everyone says about how they want to make money and be what they wanted to be in their life. Everyone talks about how they are going to be the next hall of fame athlete for their sport or how their business is going to get millions of clients.

They talk the talk more than they walk the walk. When is the right time to walk the walk? The right time is now. You have the start button in your hand right now. You won’t be able to see it, but that start button is there in your hand.

Why wait to be successful? If you wait to be successful, people will use you to make them successful. Time is ticking away. Don’t be where you are now a year from now. If you are, you’ll end up being in the same place two or even three years from now. The time of finding ways to procrastinate and waste time is over. The right time to start is now. There is no waiting line for success, and if there was, cut the line and get successful faster.

That next page will say, “I spy with my little eye…more success.”

Alex’s Banerry

July 22, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

It would be cool to hear a parrot say, “Polly want a cracker.”

The parrot wants a cracker, and unlike most other animals, the parrot can actually tell you when it wants a cracker. The only problem is when the parrot gets impatient, you’ll hear more, “Polly want a cracker.”

Hearing the parrot say the same thing every time gets annoying after the third time. What if there was a parrot that was able to do more than say it wanted a cracker? A while back, I read a book called Animals In Translation which explained how autism could decode animal behavior.

It was a fascinating read, but one of the stories about a parrot was simply incredible. The parrot’s name was Alex and it was trained by Irene Pepperberg. Alex was an African Grey Parrot that had a vocabulary of over 100 words. The parrot could distinguish 5 shapes and 7 colors.

Alex the parrot knew the difference between a banana and a nut. Although he didn’t know how to say the word apple, he referred to it as a ‘banerry’ which was a combination of two fruits Alex was familiar with (banana and cherry).

The parrot that keeps on asking for the cracker is just an ordinary parrot. The parrot that can do more is the one that is extraordinary. Alex the parrot is remembered because he didn’t keep on saying the same thing. He was able to make decisions and learn a lot in a world where the scientific community believed that a large primate brain was needed to handle complex problems. He was a unique parrot that proved the experts wrong.

We don’t remember the name of the parrot that wanted the cracker, but we will remember Alex the African Grey Parrot.
