What We Can Learn From Pigs

November 26, 2012 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

I'm happy to see you around. You may want to subscribe to my blog. Thanks for visiting!

Welcome back! I am so happy to see that you have come back for more.

There were 3 houses that were made of different materials. One house was made of wood, one was made of straw, and the other was made of bricks. In each of these houses was a pig. One day, the big bad wolf came by looking for a good meal. He blew away the straw and wood houses, and those pigs retreated to the brick house. The wolf couldn’t blow away the brick house and gave up.

The story of the 3 pigs teaches us a very important lesson that should not be overlooked. The pig who worked hard on his house got the best results while the pigs who didn’t work hard on their houses lost their houses when the wolf came. Having a strong, reliable structure is important with a house, and that is the same for online success.

Opinions and Popularity

November 25, 2012 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

I have an opinion, and not everyone is going to agree with it. If you have a giant fan base, you’ll be able to convince most of them that your opinion is the right one. With social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook dominating the web, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and well known people can build a strong following. Some people on Twitter are followed by over 1 million people. If someone with 1 million followers posted an opinion on Twitter, and 10% of the followers now agree with the opinion, that means 100,000 people agree with that opinion. These opinions can range from purchasing shoes to electing the next President. Opinions can lead to a final decision or more votes for your favorite President in future elections.

Your opinions can impact a small group of people or thousands of people. Your opinions can change a person’s perspective of what you are discussing. Your opinions can also hurt you because there are some Republicans and some Democrats. If your opinion shows any bias against a Democratic leader, chances are that people who respect that Democratic leader will unfollow you and lose interest in you. Opinions can be helpful, but they can also hurt your popularity.

Never Forget The Underprivileged

I recently got a payout from Squidoo, a website created by Seth Godin, that pays you for your content. The payout for that month was $259.54 which is the highest payout I have had on Squidoo so far. The reason Seth Godin created Squidoo was to find a way to donate money to charities and good causes such as the ASPCA, Squidoo Charity Fund, and more. I give some of my earnings to these charities and causes with the help of Squidoo. I don’t give all $259.54 to the charities and causes, but I give them a fair amount, and I have donated close to $50 to charities and good causes.

Making money online is very fun, and I enjoy getting my payouts. However, being greedy is not the right path to take. Every entrepreneur starts at the bottom and works his or her way to the top. There are people who struggle just to put food on the table, and you can help these people with small contributions. You don’t have to give these charities and causes everything you own, but there are people who do need your support. There is always a strength in numbers, and no matter how big or small your contribution is, that contribution is still helping the cause.

Don’t Give Up On What You Started

November 23, 2012 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

The soccer game was tied up at 4, I had the ball, and I was running to the center. I was a striker, and my prime objective was to get the soccer ball into the other team’s goal. I had done cross country for my high school which gave me a speed advantage against everyone else. I was dribbling the ball, and as I approached the goalie, there were no defenders on me, and I took my shot. I hit the ball high and soft over the goalie’s head, but not every shot goes in. That shot hit the crossbar and slowly bounced away from the goal. This was a major turning point in the game. The game was tied at 4, and I missed that shot. However, I knew that my team was depending on me, and since the ball was still in play, I couldn’t give up. I ran right to the ball. With my back to the goal and the ball bouncing away, there was only 1 soccer move I could do if I wanted that goal, the bicycle kick. I jumped in the air, lifted my foot, made contact with the ball, and fell on the ground. I rotated my body on the ground to see what the result was. I saw the soccer ball go right into the goal, and now my team was leading 5-4. The crowd was deafening.

The game was tied up at 4, and my bicycle kick broke the tie. If I gave up after seeing my first shot hit the crossbar, that memorable moment would have never happened. I wanted that goal for my team, and when I saw opposition, I surpassed it and made what people told me was one of the best goals of the year. Many entrepreneurs try to make money online or create a project, but some of them give up too early. I want to encourage you not to give up and finish what you started because it can lead to great results.

What Do You Want Accomplished–Main Goals First?

November 22, 2012 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

Picking a hotel room for a vacation can often prove to be difficult. You have to see the view, design, number of bedrooms, and other necessities. What is the prime objective of your vacation though? When I am on a vacation, I want to go out and explore the area. There are features such as shops, golf courses, beaches, landmarks, wonders of the world, and more that can be explored depending on where your vacation destination is. While a 3 bed hotel room with a kitchen, sofas, and a television can be luxurious, leaving the room can be difficult. I wouldn’t leave that 3 bed hotel for a long time because the luxuries would be like a main attraction. On the other hand, a smaller hotel with bright sunlight would wake me up early in the morning so that I could be out early.

Picking a hotel room is just like deciding what you want to get accomplished. If you need to accomplish something on Twitter, that should be your main goal. Surfing the web doesn’t get your main goal accomplished, and then future goals won’t be able to get accomplished either.

Don’t Respond When It Is Too Late

November 21, 2012 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Hurricane Sandy has caused a lot of destruction on the East Coast, and this super storm has created a higher awareness for global warming. Some people such as Al Gore believe that global warming is responsible for many of the recent hurricanes, and could be responsible for others still to come. If there were hurricanes like Sandy once a year, the amount of damage these hurricanes could cause would be an immeasurable disaster breaking all historic records. There are many people who are not aware of global warming’s impact on these super storms and some people are reluctant to believe it. Many of the people who believe global warming think that a horrible, worldwide disaster is the only way to get a nationwide attention for global warming. By the time this disaster occurred, it could already be too late. Hopefully, we fight against global warming to prevent more of these super storms from happening.

When we are trying to make money online, it is important to respond to all of our problems before it is too late. When your website loses traffic, you have to promote that website and work on it before you lose all of your visitors. When you respond too late, you lose visitors, popularity, and publicity. The work only gets harder from there because now you have to regain your visitors, popularity, and publicity. Preparation prevents that from happening.
