We All Have Big Egos (And There’s No Denying It)

April 25, 2014 by Marc Guberti 3 Comments

Whether you think you have a big ego or not, you have one. While some people go over the top, we all have a big ego. Who wouldn’t love to tell other people about their accomplishments? If you are not that kind of person, wouldn’t you love it when someone else told their friends about all of the cool things you do?

The truth is that we love it when that happens. Talking about ourselves triggers the same parts of the brain when we think of food and money. I did not just write this blog post to say that we all have big egos. Instead, there are benefits that we need to know about in order to use someone else’s big ego to our effect.

If you want to make a new friend, have a good date, get a new business partner, or make a strong connection, the easiest thing to do is sit back for a while and let that person talk about himself/herself. Let that person talk about all of the accomplishments, successes, and products they have. When the conversation is over, that person will feel incredible about himself/herself. Then, that person will respect you because you made that person feel great.

We all have big egos which means you and the person you talk to. By tapping into the other person’s ego, you will hear all of their successes, and they will love you for it.

5 Ways To Get More eBook Sales

April 23, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

eBooks and Books

Many authors who publish their eBooks have dreams of being able to get hundreds (or even thousands) of sales every day. However, the problem new authors face is putting in a lot of work and not making many sales. Some authors’ eBooks do not make a single sale until several months after the eBook gets published. However, it is possible to get more eBook sales. Not only is it possible, but it is also not as challenging as people think to get more eBook sales. These are some of the ways to get more eBook sales:

  1. Write eBooks frequently. Some authors publish 1 eBook every month. By publishing at this frequency, customers are easily able to become returning customers. However, as you increase your frequency, you need to be sure that you are not throwing away quality. If you do not publish 1 eBook every month, you do need to make sure that you are publishing multiple eBooks every year.
  2. Get more reviews. Contact the people who you know bought your book and ask them if they would like to write a review. If you ask a customer this way, the customer is more likely to say yes. Include your social networks in your book so you can have conversations with your customers. In addition, you can ask for a review at the end of your book. Say something like, “After you read this book, I would greatly appreciate it if you wrote an honest review for my book on Amazon.”
  3. Build the buzz. Many people make the mistake of not building the buzz. The people who have been reading my blog for a while know that I am writing a book called Lead The Stampede that will be published in the summer. That’s because I have mentioned my upcoming book in several blog posts. In addition, people have already contacted me on Twitter saying that they cannot wait for the book to come out.
  4. Use HARO to get pitches. After reading The Pumpkin Plan by Mike Michalowicz, one of the things I noticed is that there were a lot of examples of other people using various methods included in The Pumpkin Plan. Mike Michalowicz got many of these stories from using HARO and submitting a query. I decided to do the same thing for Lead The Stampede. Several people’s stories will be included in Lead The Stampede. The people whose stories are going to be included in Lead The Stampede have asked me when the book will come out and want updates. I get more sales and promote others. It’s a win-win for everyone!
  5. Get the big guys and gals to review your book. If you get a review from one celebrity, that’s all you need. The people who have a deep respect for that celebrity notice the review. At the back of The Pumpkin Plan is a review from Seth Godin. It did not take me long to realize that The Pumpkin Plan needed to be on my reading list.

Those are 5 ways to get more eBook sales. What are your thoughts about the list? Do you have any additional tips you would like to recommend? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

The Magnificent Power Of Asking

April 20, 2014 by Marc Guberti 13 Comments

Just Ask

One of the most underrated but powerful ways to grow your business and get more sales is asking. There is no harm with asking. If you ask a blogger to promote your book, the worst thing that can happen is that the blogger says no. If the blogger says yes, then one more person is promoting your book. Your book gets a backlink and extra sales.

Asking can lead to better business opportunities. Every time someone sends a pitch to reporter’s query on HARO, they are asking if they fit the story. The worst thing that happens is that the reporter rejects the story. The best thing that can happen is that the reporter takes your story, asks you for more information, and then publishes your story. That’s how I got featured on the US News.

One of the people who I interviewed for Lead The Stampede was Dan Nainan, the world-renowned comedian. I knew I would include Dan in Lead The Stampede whether he followed me on Twitter or not, but I decided to ask him if he could follow me on Twitter. I worded my request in the right way (I was not begging), and he ended up following me. Dan has over 400,000 people and he only follows 40 people. I am one of those 40 people only because I decided to ask Dan if he would like to follow me on Twitter.

What are some of the things you can ask? Ask the questions that you are afraid to ask. By asking these kinds of questions, you are showing an interest in what you do and getting the desired result. If you can ask a question in a way that does not look like begging, you can get the result you want many times.

How To Get Famous People In Your Niche To Talk To You

March 30, 2014 by Marc Guberti 10 Comments

A great way to get more attention on the big web is by getting someone to give you the shoutout…or at least have a conversation with a famous person in your niche. However, having conversations with famous people is not an easy task to complete. While some are impossible to contact, others are more than willing to respond to your tweets. In order to get the famous people in your niche to talk with you on Twitter, follow these steps:

  1. Find out who might talk with you. If you see someone engaging with their followers, that person is very likely to have a conversation with you. Other famous people send out pre-scheduled tweets and never talk with their followers. Contacting those people will not result in a response.
  2. Retweet and favorite some of that person’s tweets. When retweeting and favoriting another person’s tweets, do this on a consistent basis. Retweeting 5 of a famous person’s tweets on one day and forgetting to retweet or favorite any other tweets for the rest of the week will result in that famous person being less likely to see what you did. When I want to get in touch with someone, I am retweeting and favoriting one of that person’s tweets every day. In order to get noticed the most, either tweet old (but still relevant tweets) that were once popular or retweet tweets that few people have engaged on. Only retweeting the new stuff will mix you in with the other people who want the same attention or just love what the person tweets.
  3. Ask a question. If I want to get in touch with a social media expert, I ask a question about social media. Not only does my question get answered, but I get a response from a famous person in my niche.
  4. Respond quickly. Once you have the famous person’s attention, you don’t want to lose it. The quicker you respond, the longer the conversation continues. If the conversation continues long enough, that famous person may decide to engage in your tweets and chat with you regularly.

By following this pattern, you will be able to get famous people in your niche to respond to and engage in your tweets. What do you think of the pattern? Do you have any other suggestions to add? Share your thoughts below.

Why Testimonials Are Important

March 20, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

When first looking at the sales page, no one cares about the product. They only care about what people have said about products. After potential customers see numerous good reviews, then they start to buy in on the idea (and the product).

Testimonials act as proof that your product is elite. You don’t want people to guess about how good your product is. Amazon does not let people guess. All of their products can be reviewed based on a 1 to 5 star scale. The products with more 5 star are the products that get more sales. A lot of 5 star reviews reveals that the product is a must-have.

A description will not be enough to get people to buy your product. It is helpful, but in the end, the description is written by someone who wants you to buy their product. That’s where the testimonials come in. Real customers say what they like about the product, and that encourages potential customers to buy the product.

The products with the most sales are the ones with the most testimonials. Testimonials (also known as reviews on Amazon and many other places) tell people that what you have is extraordinary.
