Why You Need To Be On Pinterest

May 4, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

This blog post is not about whether you should consider Pinterest or why you might want to be on Pinterest. This blog post is about why you need to be on Pinterest. Pinterest is a social network that has grown faster than any other website on the web. What used to be an unknown website in 2010 is now getting over 60 million U.S. visitors every month. That’s less than 40 million U.S. visitors away from Twitter’s monthly totals.

Pinterest is a social network where you can categorize your interests and business. In fact, Pinterest is the best social network for growing a following even though you post about a variety of things. Pinterest gives its users options in a way that surpasses the other social networks on the web.

In addition, getting viral on Pinterest is much easier than getting viral on other social networks. Less than 2% of all tweets on Twitter are retweets. Mathematically speaking, that means for every 100 tweets you send out, you will only get 2 retweets. Other social network share similar statistics. However, none of them compare to Pinterest where 80% of the pins on Pinterest are repins. Mathematically speaking yet again, for every 5 pins you send out, 4 of those pins are going to get repinned. That is a big difference.

There are many entrepreneurs who want to use Pinterest to increase their sales. Pinterest is a powerful social network/e-commerce site where the average customer spends more money than on any other social network. The average cost per order for both Facebook and Twitter are under $100 while Pinterest dwarfs both of them at an average of $169 per order. People on Pinterest like to spend money on things that they like, and if your product is something your followers desire, you will be more likely to boost your sales.

Pinterest has the potential to completely change your business plan. A few months after I created my Pinterest account, more than 10% of my blog’s traffic came from Pinterest. Pinterest has boosted my sales and has allowed me to connect with more people. Now Pinterest is a serious part of my business plan. If you do not have a Pinterest account yet, then I highly recommend getting one in order to get ahead of the competition.

How To Schedule Pins On Pinterest For The Lowest Price On The Market

April 29, 2014 by Marc Guberti 9 Comments

Scheduled Pins

Millions of people on Pinterest have been searching for a way to schedule their pins for free. In the hopes of being able to schedule pins for free, many people clicked on outdated blog posts that either promoted services that are no longer free or services that do not work at all. Just like many of the Pinterest users out there, I was disappointed. However, after doing a lot of research, I have found a way to schedule pins for a low price, and in some cases (like mine), for free.

The answer is ViralWoot (formerly PinWoot). ViralWoot has been known for allowing you to follow users, repin, and like other people’s pins in order to get seeds (their point currency). However, one of ViralWoot’s features is the Pin Scheduler. The Pin Scheduler allows you to schedule pins to your boards. I tested out this feature, and it works!

If you created an account on ViralWoot back when it was PinWoot, you will not have to pay anything to gain access to the features. However, if you do not have an account on ViralWoot, you will have to pay $5 every month. If you have $5 every month to spend, you want to grow your presence on Pinterest, and you want to schedule pins, give ViralWoot a try. They also have a 7 day free trial so you know what you are getting.

The only problem with ViralWoot is that there is a limited number of pins you can schedule per month which can get expanded at a more expensive monthly cost. Regardless, ViralWoot will give you a good idea of the potential that comes with scheduling pins every day.

10 Ways To Double Your Pinterest Followers

March 29, 2014 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

Some people are gaining hundreds of Pinterest followers every day while other people struggle to gain 5 followers every day on Pinterest. Although this is not a proven statistic, it is possible that 10% of the people on Pinterest have 90% of the followers (or some cool statistic like that). The difference is that the top pinners have implemented several tactics to double their following. In fact, there are 10 different ways to double your Pinterest following. Here they are:

  1. Be active on Pinterest every day. Being active on Pinterest means sending out at least 15 pins every day, commenting on at least 3 pins every day, and liking/repinning other people’s pins. By being active on Pinterest, more people will see you on their timelines. This will result in an increase in repins, and as you gain repins, you will also gain followers.
  2. Verify your blog. People with the big checkmark are verified, and as you build your following, that checkmark will have a greater significance and bring in more followers. Having the checkmark on your Pinterest account shows your authenticity, and people love authenticity.
  3. Have a strong bio. This is not your English class. You can use sentence fragments and run-ons in order to tell more people about your hobbies and credentials. The more you say in your bio, the better.
  4. Follow targeted people. Even if the ratio gets out of hand, you will end up gaining more followers by following other people. When you follow other people, be sure to follow the people with less than 1,000 followers. The people with less than 1,000 followers are the ones who are most likely to follow you back. In addition, follow the people who are following boards with content similar to yours so you can build a targeted following. Following targeted people alone will contribute to a noticeable change in the amount of people you follow, but it will also result in a noticeable change in the number of repins you get.
  5. Have a profile picture. Adding a profile picture is simple to do. However, having a profile picture of you will make people trust you enough to click the follow button. People prefer to follow someone who they can see than someone hidden by Pinterest’s default picture or a picture of beautiful scenery that you found on Google.
  6. Connect other social networks with Pinterest and vice-versa. Get the followers you have already gained to follow you on Pinterest. This is an easy way to boost your following on one social network from your fan base on another social network.
  7. Have a wide variety of boards. Pinterest is not the place to focus on one niche. On Pinterest, create boards for all of your hobbies and niches you are in. I have several boards on my Pinterest account that have nothing to do with business, blogging, or social media. The result is that I am able to attract a larger audience.
  8. Have a lot of pins. The more pins an account has, the better. Would you rather follow the person on Twitter who sent out 100 tweets or the person who sent out 10,000 tweets. Sending out 10,000 tweets identifies that person as an influential expert, and (in some cases), has a lot of good things and interesting articles to share. As the number of pins go up, more people will be inclined to follow you. Big numbers rule yet again.
  9. Turn your blog into something powerful. If you provide your visitors quality content, they are very likely to follow you on your social networks. If your blog was getting 10,000 daily visitors, imagine how many daily Pinterest followers that would be.
  10. Stick with it. In order to see a big increase in followers, you need to stick with it. Giving up on Pinterest too early will prevent you from seeing the true potential of a powerful social network.

Those are 10 ways to double your Pinterest following. If you have any thoughts about this blog post or additional tips, please share them below.

The 3 Characteristics Of A Perfect Pin

March 26, 2014 by Marc Guberti 8 Comments

In order to get the best from Pinterest, you need to send out pins that people will want to repin. The pin that people would want to repin, the perfect pin, has several characteristics. However, when all of these characteristics are put into 1 pin, you will see more repins. These are the three characteristics of a perfect pin.

  1. Pin a picture that grabs our attention. Small pictures get little attention while big pictures get a lot of attention. In addition, the color yellow grabs our attention quicker than any other color.
  2. The picture needs to be cool or have a powerful message. Now that you have our attention, we need a reason to repin your pin. This is when either being cool or motivational will result in more repins. 3D printing is cool because it is an innovation. That’s why most of my repinned pins are 3D printed creations. Motivation comes in the forms of inspirational “go get ‘em” quotes.
  3. Have a description that explains your picture. In 1-2 sentences, briefly describe the picture you pinned. Tell people what the picture is even if the picture is of something that we all know. If you pin a picture of a rabbit, be sure to tell us that it is a rabbit. We know what rabbits look like, but on Pinterest, you need to tell them what your picture is.

The next time you send out a pin on Pinterest, be sure that you are sending out the perfect pin. These kinds of pins get repinned more often than the average pin. Some perfect pins even go viral. What are your thoughts on the perfect pin? Do you have any additional tips or thoughts? Please share them below.

How To Get People To Repin Your Older Pins

March 25, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Get More Repins

An important way to get more followers on Pinterest is to be an active user on Pinterest. However, as your activity increases, new pins will push your older pins towards the bottom of your boards. This results in less people seeing your older pins, and also, less repins. There is a way to solve this problem, and I am going to show you exactly how to do that.

The first thing you need to do is create irresistible boards. Quality boards are not enough in a world that couldn’t stress quality more than it already has. In order to get more repins for your older pins, your boards need to be about something that people will not want to leave. My most repinned boards are 3D Printed Creations and Inspirational Quotes. Since 3D Printing is the big innovation and inspirational quotes make people feel good about themselves, those are the two boards where my followers view my older pins. Some of my followers pin more than 100 pins on those two boards because these boards are irresistible. These two boards have exactly what my followers wanted to see.

Another way to get people to repin your older pins is by embedding pins on your blog. Even if you start off by pinning your new pins, those new pins are going to get old. A pin I sent out in November 2013 was at one point a new pin. Now it is an old pin, and just like this pin, all new pins will eventually become old. By embedding these pins on your blog, more people will be able to see the pins. When more people see your older pins, that will also result in more repins.

Create boards that are irresistible so your followers are scrolling down until they get to the end of the board. Write compelling blog posts with embedded pins that grab attention and lead your visitors to your irresistible boards. Once you do these two things, your older pins will get repinned more often.

5 Pinterest Limits

March 23, 2014 by Marc Guberti 48 Comments

Like all social networks, Pinterest does have its limits. There are some obvious ones such as following limits. However, there are some limits on Pinterest that may surprise you. These are 5 limits on Pinterest. While I completely understand some of them, I cannot understand some of the others.

  1. You can only follow 300 people per hour. The people who get a big following by following a lot of people to get follow backs do not necessarily like this rule. However, this rule is designed to prevent spam. The problem occurred when some people decided to follow over 1 million users.
  2. You have a 500 character limit per pin. I love this rule because it gives me the ability to write more than I could with 140 characters. If a picture I pin has a story behind it, I can tell the story in 500 characters.
  3. You are limited to 200,000 pins. I do not like this rule. Although it is unlikely to affect me anytime soon, this rule limits the amount of posts someone could send out. Some of the pinners with over 1 million followers also have over 50,000 pins. One of the pinners had over 90,000 pins. When these people reach 200,000 pins, what are they going to tell their followers. Either pin #200,000 will say “Thank you for following this account. Please follow my new account,” or “That’s all folks.” On Pinterest’s official website, it says they cannot change this limit for any reason.
  4. You can only have 500 boards. I do not like this rule either, but it makes more sense. 350 boards with 1 pin each are not quality boards. There is a quantity of boards, but the boards are not that good.
  5. You can only like 100,000 pins. I do not see this as a concern. A substitute for liking can be repinning and unliking pins as you repin them. However, that also creates the issue of the 200,000 pin limit.

For the most part, these limits seem to serve a good purpose. However, I am not pleased with the fact that there is a 200,000 pin limit. What are your thoughts about these limitations?
