Bigger Isn’t Always Better

September 20, 2013 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

I'm happy to see you around. You may want to subscribe to my blog. Thanks for visiting!

Welcome back! I am so happy to see that you have come back for more.

You can dream big. You can think of all of the big things your business will become. However, when you meet with your audience, it’s better to have a smaller audience to begin. The smaller audience will allow you to see more clearly who your best clients are.

Having a big audience is great, but there are a lot of people who want to meet you. You may see thousands of people, and remembering them gets difficult. If your potential top clients see you first, and then you see thousands of other people, you might forget who your potential top clients were.

Coming up with a lot of content for a blog post is great. However, the blog post won’t attract a lot of readers if it’s as long as a book. I could go on about this topic, but I avoid writing thousands of words for a single blog post. Sometimes I don’t even need 10 sentences to convey my message. It’s more important to actually convey the message than to write a humongous blog post.

And so everyone understands why bigger isn’t always better, we can use an iPhone as the example. Would you rather have a 4 inch iPhone or a 20 inch iPhone? The 4 inch iPhone fits in your pocket while the 20 inch iPhone doesn’t. Playing games and using apps on the 20 inch iPhone wouldn’t be that much fun either.

Dreaming big is way better than dreaming small, but not all things are better when they are big versus when they are small.

Interests Change

September 20, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

And along with those changes of interests, marketing is changed as well. 5 years later, marketing will be different. 5 years ago, marketing was different. Some changes are dramatic while others are minor. Companies and big name industries are spending millions of dollars on marketing campaigns that don’t work the way they used to.

Other than Super Bowl commercials, TV advertising isn’t as effective as it used to be. Getting your own following on social networks, products, and a blog is the way to market nowadays (although that can change too).

Marketing etiquette is inconsistent because interests change. Commercials might have been really cool to look at when someone watched TV for the first time. In the 1950’s, commercials must have been really cool since the television wasn’t that old. Now mobile advertising is the way to go although I doubt mobile advertising will be the way to go forever.

Interests change, and when those interests change, the rules of marketing change. By paying attention to those changes, you will be able to see the rules of marketing change before everyone else.

The Curse Of Perfectionism

September 19, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Facebook isn’t perfect. A hacker posted an update on Mark Zuckerberg’s timeline awhile ago.

Twitter isn’t perfect. Burger King got hacked. So did Donald Trump’s account and others as well.

Blogs aren’t perfect. You can’t please everyone’s interests with a single blog.

Big chain stores aren’t perfect. The CEO of Walmart can’t visit every Walmart store in existence to see how everyone is doing.

Google isn’t perfect. Contacting them directly is like an odyssey that begins with a Google search (go figure).

Apple isn’t perfect. People have claimed that their iPhones suddenly overheated and melted.

None of us are perfect. We all have our faults.

Don’t try to be perfect. It’s impossible. Don’t continue working on a product until it is perfect in every way because you’ll never create a perfect product. I’ll never create a perfect product either. It’s not that you or I can’t come up with a good product. Something that you may think is perfect probably won’t get as much appreciation from some of your friends. Don’t focus on launching something that is perfect. Focus on actually launching something.

Don’t try to make it perfect because it won’t work.

Looking But Not Seeing

September 19, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense. I first heard of that actually being possible in my Chemistry class. I wondered if looking but not seeing is even possible. Surprisingly enough, it is.

I could give a lot of examples, but the best example would be the video with the gorilla. A lot of changes take place, and you won’t notice most of them. Most people won’t notice the gorilla walking in the middle of the screen. Most people won’t see the curtain colors change. Other things change, but I don’t want to give everything away.

It is actually possible to look at something without actually seeing it. You can see the fascinating video on YouTube by clicking here.

I Recently Had The Honor Of Meeting

September 18, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Seth Godin, Ramon Ray, and Carly Strife at the Small Biz Big Things expo in New York City.

Many people are using the “I had the honor of meeting,” and then the list of names with pictures goes on and on. I’m going to be doing that as well, but there is a more important goal to reach.

It’s nice to have the honor of meeting a lot of renowned people. However, you should also make sure people are honored to actually meet you. The only way to do that is to love what you do and effectively do what you love.

You can still have the honor of meeting so and so. After you meet a lot of honorable people, it’s time for you to make a lot of people want to meet you and consider that meeting an honor.

Why Social Media, 3D Printing, And Cars Are Huge

September 18, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are over a billion people on Facebook. There are over half a billion people on Twitter. All of the social networks have millions of users. It’s not a mystery as to how social media is huge. If you say it’s because people can now talk to each other faster, you’d be wrong.

The reason why social media is huge is because it’s revolutionary. Social media dramatically improved one aspect of life. The fact that social media improved human interaction is just a coincidence.

3D printing is going to be really huge. It’s not because you can now print 3D objects that 3D printing is going to be huge. 3D printing is going to be huge because it’s a dramatic improvement of one aspect of life. If you hand make something, you can use a replicator to create a 3D file of what you handmade. Creating your own unique product couldn’t be any easier.

Cars are huge. Almost everyone has a car. There are plenty of traffic jams to account for that. The reason why cars are huge is because cars were a dramatic improvement. Instead of riding on a horse when you go somewhere, you can drive in a car (assuming you have a license). Cars go a lot faster than horses, but even when a car is going slower than a horse, it has its benefits. The car can go on as long as there’s gasoline left in the tank. A horse can only go on until it gets tired or hungry.

If you can find a way to dramatically improve an aspect of life whether that aspect is travel, communication, or something else, you will become a member of the elite.
