5 Pinterest Mistakes To Avoid (Part 2)

December 27, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

A while ago, I wrote a blog post about 5 Pinterest Mistakes To Avoid. After learning more about Pinterest and using it more often, I decided to come up with a second part for this post. Pinterest is a powerful social network, but it is important to avoid these mistakes:

  1. Not following others. I made the mistake of not following others back when I wrote Part 1. I decided to follow people on Pinterest in an attempt to get more followers. Before I followed people on Pinterest, I was gaining around 5-10 followers every day. Now that I am following back on Pinterest, I am gaining over 100 followers every day. More people know about following others on Twitter, but I encourage you to also follow people on Pinterest.
  2. Not commenting on other pins. By commenting on other people’s pins, more people will be able to see your account, and you may have a conversation with the pinner. Only 1% of an average pinner’s time is spent commenting on other people’s pins. By commenting on other people’s pins, your comment will appear on the top. If you are the only person who left a comment on a pin that went viral, a lot of people are going to see your Pinterest account.
  3. Not utilizing Pinterest’s search feature. When I follow people, I make sure to follow people who would be interested in what I have to say. I use Pinterest’s search engine to find popular boards about social media. I follow that board and a lot of that board’s followers. Then, I get more followers, and all of those new followers are also interested in what I pin about.
  4. Not making money on Pinterest with advertised pins. I am not a big fan of advertising on a blog, but Pinterest is different. You can create a board with all of the advertisements. You will be able to receive a commission for each of those ads. You can make money with advertised pins on Pinterest by using Pinbooster or by allowing advertisers to contact you on your blog.
  5. Not pinning infographics. It is possible to be successful on Pinterest without infographics, but they are very helpful. Mix some infographics with the other things that you pin.

Those are the 5 mistakes to avoid on Pinterest. You can take a look at Part 1 here.

How To Make Money On Pinterest With PinBooster

December 26, 2013 by Marc Guberti 8 Comments

The big problem with Pinterest is that pinners can’t make money with their affiliate links. Pinterest would be the ideal social network to use affiliate links because of the pictures, the ability to add the price to the corner, and the ability to write a long description about the product.

The reality is that affiliate links aren’t a way to make money on Pinterest. However, there is a way to make a lot of money on Pinterest. If you want to make money on Pinterest, then you need to take a look at PinBooster.

PinBooster is the Sponsored Tweets for Pinterest. Advertisers have offers, and by accepting those offers, you get paid. The advantage with PinBooster is that you get to choose which board the ad goes on. I have a Pinterest board called Advertisements which is where all of the ads go.

Another advantage of PinBooster is that the price per pin is greater than the price per tweet. Sponsored Tweets recommends that I charge over $25 with 24,000 followers. PinBooster recommends that I charge close to $10 based on my 3,303 Pinterest followers (I have over 4,000 followers, but the statistic isn’t updating on PinBooster). I decided to calculate how much I would be able to charge per pin if I had 24,000 Pinterest followers. With over 24,000 followers, PinBooster would recommend my price to be over $70 per pin.

The difference is how each of the social networks work. Twitter is a giant feed that is constantly getting updated. Tweets appear and then get pushed to the bottom of the timeline. Pinterest is more organized into boards which allows the advertisements to be seen by more people. As a result, the cost per pin is greater than the cost per tweet.

PinBooster is one of the best ways to make money on Pinterest. Once you start using PinBooster, all you have to do is wait for the offers to start rolling in.

UPDATE: Now PinBooster refers to themselves as Loop88. Here’s the link.

Why Pinterest Is A Game Changer For Your Business

November 11, 2013 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

With over 70 million users, Pinterest is growing at a rapid pace, and if you’re not on Pinterest at all, then now is the perfect time to create an account. People are more likely to share content on Pinterest than on any other social network. Over 80% of pins are repins while the other social networks are behind.

Since people are commonly repinning other pins, it’s easier to go viral on Pinterest. When I had less than 1,000 followers, one of my pins got repinned almost a thousand times. You can go from unknown to viral on Pinterest as long as you have a few hundred followers and a really good pin.

Pinterest allows you to organize your content differently. Information can be organized into boards which can be moved around at any time. If you have three boards about infographics, you can put all three of those boards next to each other. If you have boards with videos, you can put all of those boards next to each other as well. Pinterest allows you to organize your content in a way that allows your followers to easily browse through the content they want to look at.

With Pinterest, you don’t have to talk exclusively about your business. You can pin based on your business on some of your boards, and you can pin about your interests on other boards. I have boards about social media, but I also have boards about penguins, baseball players, books, and Legos.

Pinterest boards allow you to become more specific. If you want to create boards with YouTube videos, you can create boards with humorous, informative, and inspirational videos. When you create boards that are specific, you have the power to satisfy specific needs that your followers have. Instead of browsing the web for humorous YouTube videos, your followers will be able to look at the videos you pinned on your board.

While you pin pictures relating to your business and interests, you can also pin pictures of your products. If you have written any books, or you want to recommend a product with an affiliate link, Pinterest will help you get a dramatic increase in sales. Consumers on Pinterest spend an average of $180 per purchase. Facebook comes in second place at an average of $85 per consumer.

Consumers are also more enticed to buy a product if they see a picture of the product. With Pinterest, you will be able to show a picture of the product, and when people click on the product, they can be led directly to the sales page. Pinterest will also allow you to target people with specific interests. If you have a board for every social network, people who are only interested in Twitter will still follow you since you have a board about Twitter. More boards will lead to more options which will lead to more followers.

Pinterest is too powerful to be ignored.
