6 Ways To Get More Returning Viewers On YouTube

June 16, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

youtube optimization

Most people focus on getting returning blog visitors and returning customers. While it is good for anyone to return, less people focus on getting returning viewers on YouTube. Returning viewers on YouTube will be more likely to share the videos on your channel every time. In addition, they will also watch your videos for a longer period of time. As these people promote your channel, others will learn about your videos and recommend them to your friends. This is ultimately how most channels and videos end up going viral. Since getting returning viewers is critical towards your success on YouTube, you need to implement these 6 tactics to get more returning viewers for your videos.

  1. Have a professional 1-3 second introduction. Don’t jump right into what your video contains without including a professional introduction. Having a professional introduction automatically makes your video better. It gives people an idea of what will be in your video, and a professional introduction will make you look more professional too. The professional look will build on your credibility which is always important to get more of.
  2. Have a strong intro after the professional 1-3 second intro. All you have to do for the strong introduction is briefly tell everyone who you are. Just mentioning your name is good enough. Even if you already said your name in 20 videos, keep on saying it. Some of your viewers will have no idea who you are until you say your name. As the viewer hears you say your own name more often, your name becomes glued into the viewer’s mind.
  3. Make sure you are publishing quality videos. Publishing quality videos are really important. The professional 1-3 second introduction completely grabs the viewer’s attention. In order to grab their attention for the duration of your video, your video needs to be really good.
  4. Get more people to subscribe to your channel. There are several ways to get people to subscribe to your YouTube channel, and I highlighted 20 of them in an older blog post. Subscribers get notified every time you come out with a video which means these people are the ones who will be very likely to become returning viewers.
  5. Have a remarkable story. Remarkable stories always help out, and in some cases, having a remarkable story may allow you to go viral. These are some ideas to help you come up with your own remarkable (but true) story.
  6. Have a strong conclusion. For this strong conclusion, you need to sum up everything you said in the entire video. After that, tell the viewer that you hope that your video served them. If you think of a good punchline to use at the end of all of your videos, then use it before you stop recording.

By getting returning viewers, your YouTube videos will become and look very popular. The popularity of your YouTube videos helps decide whether someone will view your video or not. Most people tend to view very popular videos, and by getting your viewers to become returning viewers, your YouTube videos will be more attractive to potential viewers.

What are your thoughts on this list? Do you have any additional tips about getting more returning viewers? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

Are You Throwing Away Your Blog Traffic?

June 4, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are many bloggers who dream of getting hundreds of visitors on their blog every day. These people believe that getting these extra visitors will translate to more sales, more shares, and more subscribers. However, there are some people with hundreds of visitors who are not satisfied with their results. Even though these people took the time to grow their presence on the web, they are only getting 5 extra sales.

I noticed this problem for my books. I used to show all of my books on my blog’s sidebar, and when I did this, the links generated over 200 clicks every month. Alas, I only made two sales from those clicks. Having those pictures on my blog also made it slower (and hurt SEO). The people who clicked on the links left my blog, and I lost a visitor who could have possibly subscribed to my blog.

If people leave your blog to click on a link to one of your products or a link to one of your social networks, that traffic is being thrown away. Even if someone follows you on a social network, who knows when that person will see one of your social media posts. I do my best to make sure all of my followers see one of my tweets. However, if someone does not log in for an entire day, then there’s nothing I can do about it. The better option is to have people subscribe to your blog. It is better to have 1,000 subscribers than it is to have 1,000 followers. Subscribers get emailed every time a new blog post gets published, and who doesn’t check their email? Followers may not see all of your posts.

If you are getting someone to subscribe to your blog, you are not throwing away your traffic. If anything else occurs, traffic is being thrown away.

The big question you may have right now is how it is possible to still gain followers even though it is bad to have links that lead to your social media accounts. The solution is to have a button on your blog that will allow someone to follow you without leaving your blog. The button for my Twitter account allows anyone reading my blog to follow me without going on Twitter. All a reader has to do is click the button and that’s it. Not only do you make it easier for people to follow you on Twitter, but you also allow them to stay on your blog. Even if you have to make your social media buttons smaller to get the desired effect, it is more important to keep someone on your blog (and possibly get that person to subscribe) than it is to get another follower. 100 followers are not going to be the difference between your book becoming a bestseller, but 100 people on your email list (in some cases, big fans) who can get notified the moment your book comes out will be very likely to buy that book.

Getting someone to stay on your blog for an extra minute can be the difference between someone who subscribes to your blog and someone who walks away. Over the long-term, it can be the difference between getting a lot of sales and getting no sales at all.

The Biggest Mistake Bloggers Make With Their Subscription Boxes

May 29, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are millions of blogs. Although a majority of bloggers have a subscription box on their blogs, many of these bloggers are creating ineffective subscription boxes that take up space and get no subscribers. In order to establish a powerful presence for yourself on the web, you need to have a subscription box that is going to get you more subscribers.

Here’s where the mistake comes in. Most bloggers decide to caption the button something like, “Subscribe Now” or “Subscribe For Free Updates.” The mistake is that the buttons include the word “Subscribe.”

Even when my blog’s traffic started to increase rapidly, I continued gaining a small number of subscribers. Even though my blog was getting thousands of extra visitors I was not getting a lot of extra subscribers. In some cases, I would not get a new subscriber to my blog for a week.

Then, I made a small change to the subscription button. The original button said, “Subscribe Now For Free Updates,” but I decided to make that button say “Count Me In!” Right when I made that change, I immediately got more subscribers. Now I am gaining several subscribers every day.

Growing your list is one of the most important ways to build a strong presence for yourself on the web. By growing your list, you will be able to get in contact with more people who want to buy your products. Does your subscription box say “Subscribe Now” or something similar? If you are using the word “Subscribe,” then you need to change that to get more subscribers.

5 Ways To Build Your Email List

May 22, 2014 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

No matter what niche you are in, email lists are critical towards your success. Email lists allow you to build a list of loyal subscribers who will very likely end up being your next customers. However, the art of growing a large email list is challenging. Few bloggers have email lists with over 100 people, and even fewer bloggers have email lists that exceed 1,000 people. In order to build your email list, follow these tips:

  1. Offer a free prize to people who subscribe. A free prize will encourage people to enter their name and email and go on your list. The free prize needs to be something that you could have charged for so people who subscribe stay on the list.
  2. Write quality content. Quality content makes your free prize look better. Many people subscribe to blogs for the quality content. Your subscribers want to read quality emails every time, not emails that anyone could have written.
  3. Host an online webinar that asks for email addresses. Hosting the online webinar will allow you to get more subscribers. People who see the webinar would automatically subscribe to your blog.
  4. Run a giveaway exclusive to subscribers. Whether you offer a $10 Amazon Gift Card or a free copy of your book, you need to run giveaways for your subscribers. Running giveaways exclusive to your subscribers will entice more people to sign up. The best giveaways for you are the ones that promote your own products. That way, you get a new customer.
  5. Strengthen your social networks. In order to get more people on your list, you need to build your social media presence. The person with 100,000 followers is able to get more people on his/her list than the person with 5,000 followers. Social media is a very valuable tool to grow your email list.

Those are the 5 ways to grow your email list. By growing your email list, your product launches will be more successful each time. What are your thoughts on the list? Do you have any additional tips? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

5 Methods To Create A Compelling Free Prize

May 18, 2014 by Marc Guberti 1 Comment

Free prizes are only effective if they are compelling. The free prize needs to be something that your visitors would want that could have been a paid product. However, many people make the mistake of offering a free prize that is not compelling. A compelling free prize encourages people to subscribe to your blog. A compelling free prize encourages people to buy your paid products later down the road. If you want your free prize to be compelling, follow these 5 methods.

  1. Have an eye-catching design. People do judge a free prize by the cover. You need to come up with an eye-catching design for your free prize so your visitors will have a reason to subscribe. Some people will get your free prize just because it looks cool.
  2. Make it essential for your target audience. The free prize you give away must match your target audience’s interests. If your target audience is people who want to grow their social media presence, a free guide to gaining more followers on any social network would be a compelling free prize.
  3. Get people to mention your free prize. If your free prize gets mentioned on other people’s websites, more people will subscribe to get the free prize. Positive reviews are a big factor towards how many sales your book makes. Getting positive reviews for your free prize will make people want to get their hands on your free prize.
  4. Make it different from the other free prizes out there. The free prizes in cereal boxes used to be a big deal. Now that more companies have a free prize in their cereal boxes, the free prize in the cereal box has gotten old. There are millions of free prizes out there, but if you want your free prize to be compelling, your free prize needs to stand out from the other free prizes.
  5. Make getting the free prize easy. If someone has to fill in their address, phone number, and date of birth to get the free prize, your free prize will not be compelling. Instead of appreciating the free prize for what it is, visitors will only think of how complicated it was to finally gain access to the free prize. Instead of making it hard for your visitors to get the free prize, only ask for their email address (asking for the person’s first name is optional). By making it easier for your visitors to get the free prize, those visitors will be more likely to enter in their information.

Those are the five methods to make your free prize compelling. What are your thoughts about the list? Do you have any suggestions for the list? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

Why You Need To Respond To The People Who Comment On Your Blog

May 11, 2014 by Marc Guberti 12 Comments

blog comment

Why do you want more comments on your blog posts? Most bloggers want more comments on their blog posts to show that people interact on their blogs. Bloggers want conversations to get started on their blogs to indicate that their blog is popular. The most popular blogs also happen to have numerous comments on every blog post. It’s not a coincidence.

What most bloggers forget is that they can build conversations by simply responding to other people’s comments. Responding to someone else’s comment counts as a comment in the grand total. If you respond to 25 comments, people will see that your blog post has received 50 comments. That shows bustling activity and popularity: the two things that people look for in a blog.

Not only is responding to the people who comment on your blog a way to bring up the numbers, but responding to other people’s comments will allow you to further open discussion. By further opening the discussion, you will encourage more people to comment and possibly learn about things in your niche that you did not know about before. As you continue replying to comments and building your presence on the web, some people will write a good comment on your blog just to get your reply. There is a point when a blogger becomes so famous that a reply from that blogger means a lot.

Another benefit to responding to comments is your ability to build stronger connections. The advantage with WordPress (and many others) is that the person who comments must enter their email address. By requiring everyone who comments to enter their email address, you will be able to reply to those comments and send emails to those people. The people who commented on your blog will be very grateful that you took the time to send a personalized message, and that will allow the connection to build. A new connection can end up becoming a customer, subscriber, or better yet, a returning customer.

There are many benefits associated with replying to comments on your blog. Do you reply to the comments on your blog? If you leave a comment below, I will be sure to respond.
