8 Ways To Bring Up Your Klout Score

January 28, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

Your Klout score allows people to know how influential you are on the web. Having a high Klout score can give you more opportunities and more admiration from others in your niche. Whether your Klout score is in the 70’s, 60’s, 50’s or below that, increasing your Klout score is a great way to increase your influence on the web. Many times, when people see someone in their niche with a high Klout score, they are automatically influenced by that person. Since the first time I saw Jeff Bullas’ Klout score, I have been actively reading his blog posts and subscribed to his blog.

There are benefits to having a high Klout score, but in order to boost your Klout score, follow these 8 tips:

  1. Build a targeted following. In order to build a targeted following, find people in your niche with over 100,000 followers and follow their followers. Make sure the people you follow through this method are the people who are likely to follow you back. Following a targeted audience will result in more people mentioning you and starting conversations with you as well.
  2. Tweet content that is worthy of retweets. Retweets are a factor towards boosting your Klout score. By tweeting quality content, you will get more retweets which in turn will boost your Klout score. An easy way to get more retweets is by tweeting inspirational quotes and amazing pictures.
  3. Build a following on your other social networks. Klout score is based on the accumulation of your social networks. The more social networks you have, the higher your Klout score will be. By being influential on multiple social networks, your Klout score will rise.
  4. Host a giveaway that requires people to mention you in order to win. As the amount of people mentioning you increases, your Klout score will increase as well. Increasing your Klout score is one of the many benefits of hosting your own giveaway.
  5. Turn your followers into big fans. Not all of your followers will go from followers to fans, but your fans are more likely to engage with you on your social networks and share your posts.
  6. Interact with your followers…a lot. The more you interact with people, the more your Klout score increases. If someone shares your article, thank that person for sharing your article. That way, your Klout score increases, and that person is more likely to share more of your articles as well.
  7. Ask your friends for help. If your friends retweet your tweets, like your pictures, and interact with you on social networks, they are contributing to your Klout score. Ask them to help out, and they will probably say yes.
  8. Be consistent and stick with it. If you stick with it, you are going to see your Klout score rise dramatically. Soon enough, you will see your Klout score going from the 40’s to the 50’s and beyond.

By boosting your Klout score, you will be given more opportunities to network with the people in your niche. In addition, more of your followers will turn into loyal customers who become eager to buy your products.

Why Your Klout Score Is Important

January 27, 2014 by Marc Guberti 18 Comments

You may have an idea about what Klout is, and you may know it is important. However, most of the experts simply say that Klout is important and leave you trying to figure out the “why” part of the question.

Klout measures the accumulation of your influence on your social networks. That means the more social networks you add, the higher your Klout score goes. According to these statistics which occasionally change, the average Klout score is 40 while having a Klout score of 63 or better would put you in to Top 5% of Klout.

People love to see big numbers. The motivational speaker with 100,000 followers and the big blue check mark is going to get more opportunities than the motivational speaker with 10,000 followers and no big blue check mark. Klout score is popular because it goes beyond the number of followers someone has in order to identify how influential someone is.

More people than ever are paying attention to Klout score. Sam Fiorella did not make the interview process for a job just because his Klout score was a 34. The company ended up hiring someone who had a Klout score of 67. Having a higher Klout score also means more perks. I received the Klout Perk from Geico which was an oversized GEICO gecko and a signed picture of the gecko with a thumbs up.

Besides getting free stuff and getting the job, there are other ways that having a high Klout score is beneficial. For entrepreneurs who do not plan on applying for a job, having a higher Klout score will expose you to more webinars, public speaking events, and a more loyal fan base. The entrepreneurs that we know very well also happen to be the entrepreneurs with the high Klout scores.

Klout score is important towards identifying how influential someone is on the web. At the time of writing this blog post, my Klout score is currently 64, but my score changes periodically.

5 Things To Know Before Creating A Blog

January 27, 2014 by Marc Guberti 19 Comments

If you have your own blog, welcome to the club (it’s a big one). For the people who do not have a blog, whether that be you or one of your friends, these are 5 things that people without blogs should know about before starting.

  1. The road is tough, but the treasure is on the other side of that road. When you are blogging, you will never know how close you are to getting that big increase in traffic. It took me almost a year of blogging before I saw a dramatic increase in traffic. This picture will give you an idea of the dramatic increase in traffic your blog can get.
  2. Choose your URL carefully. A really long URL is more challenging to remember than a short URL. When in doubt, have your name as the URL to your blog.
  3. The first blog post does not get tons of traffic. In fact, that first blog post may not get any traffic at all. However, all of that traffic will come sooner or later.
  4. The success you achieve from blogging depends on how much time you put into it. Publishing blog posts only once a month that are always short shows that blogging does not take up a lot of time. In order to be a well-known blogger, you should dedicate 15-30 minutes a day to blogging.
  5. Use WordPress. Their plugins are awesome, the statistics tell you a lot about your blog, there are plenty of themes to choose from, and the dashboard organizes all of WordPress’ features where you can easily access them. Whether you use the dot-com or dot-org version of WordPress, it is the best option for bloggers.

Are you ready to create your own blog? Do you have any questions? Please share your thoughts below.

Quality Content Is Not Enough

January 26, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

Quality content is enough to become good at writing about a certain topic.

Quality content is not enough to get noticed.

The people don’t just come. They need to see where they are going before they can get there.

Quality content sets up the foundation.

You need visitors in order to build on that foundation.

People need to see that quality content before all of the retweeting and repinning takes place.

After you get the people, the quality content will make them want more.

Quality content is a key factor towards success, but it is not enough.

Getting people to see that quality content will allow your blog to experience exponential growth.

10 Easy Ways To Enhance Your Blog’s SEO

January 26, 2014 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

In order to get your blog to rank well on search engines, you need to pay special attention to your blog’s SEO. Search engine optimization is something that some bloggers know very well while others find it very confusing. When I first heard of SEO, I was completely confused. I had no idea how SEO would help my blog or how to apply SEO. You may be confused about SEO as well, but in this article, I am going to make SEO easier to understand. In addition, I will be showing you 10 easy ways to enhance your blog’s SEO.

  1. Blog consistently. Consistency is one of the keys to success. It is better to blog once a week than it is to blog inconsistently.
  2. Link to your older blog posts in your new blog posts. This helps out with your blog’s bounce rate which plays a role in SEO. It’s as easy as inserting a link to another blog post.
  3. Share your blog on social networks. Getting traffic from social networks helps out with a blog’s SEO.
  4. Verify your blog on Pinterest. This way, people know it’s you, and in addition, you get a backlink from Pinterest. Backlinks are important towards SEO, but if you can get a backlink from Pinterest (one of the highest ranked websites on the web), that is a quality backlink. The more quality backlinks you have, the more traffic your blog will get.
  5. Be a guest blogger. This also contributes towards backlinks if you put a link to your blog in your bio. People will see your name on more places in the web, and that will make people to trust you more.
  6. Have a Top Posts & Pages widget on your blog. This is another easy addition that helps out with bounce rate. When someone clicks on the link to one of your popular posts (which many people believe are your best posts), that will lower your blog’s bounce rate.
  7. Use keywords in your title. What are going to be the words and phrases people search to find you? Use some of these keywords in your title so it is easier for people to find you.
  8. Include tags for all of your blog posts. I recommend having 5-10 tags per blog posts because having too many tags is not good for SEO. Tags are the keywords people use to find you. If you want someone to find you for “Twitter tips,” have “Twitter tips” as a tag.
  9. Choose your tags and keywords carefully. Let’s say you wrote an article about getting more retweets on Twitter. A big mistake people make with tagging is that they decide to tag “Twitter” for their articles. If you tag that way, you will be competing with millions (or maybe even billions) of different blog posts and web pages. If one of your tags is “Twitter tips,” you reduce the competition size. If one of your tags is “how to get more retweets on Twitter,” you have reduced the competition even more. Choose the keywords
  10. Write a series of blog posts. I wrote a blog post called 5 Pinterest Mistakes to avoid. Then I wrote a Part 2. By writing a series, all you need to do is get your visitor to enjoy reading one of those blog posts. Then, the visitor will automatically look at the other one as well.

By implementing these 10 easy tactics, you will be able to see an increase in your search engine traffic. I can’t guarantee immediate results, but over the long-term, you will see an increase in traffic from Google and other search engines as well.
