Why Most People Don’t Lift Weights

August 9, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

It’s not because they don’t want to get stronger. The more you lift weights, the stronger you get. No matter what the task is, whether people have to hold the weights and do reps for a minute or 10 minutes, they won’t lift those weights.

Why? They know success is along the road. They know from seeing all of those super muscular people what happens when you lift weights long enough. But why don’t they do that then? Imagine being able to throw a football twice as far or lifting some of the heaviest things with ease.

The reason that most people don’t lift weights because success comes “along the way.” The muscles don’t come quick. It’s a commitment. It’s easier to sit on the couch looking at people who are fit than to actually lifting the weights and getting fit.

Everyone is reluctant to change, and when we have to make a commitment to see results, most people will cringe at the idea. Don’t cringe and know what lies around the corner.

3 Reasons Why Man’s Best Friend Is Man’s Best Friend

August 8, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Dogs have been given the title of being man’s best friend. Some people would go further and say that dogs are nicer than humans. Here are some of the reasons that man’s best friend is man’s best friend.

  1. Dogs listen. I have a 7-year-old Shih Tzu named Flower who listens to what we have to say. She does not interrupt us or discourage us in any way. She just listens.
  2. Dogs encourage activity. When my dog brings a chew toy over, I throw it and see her run after it. Then, after she chased down the chew toy, she brings it back to me. She also needs to be walked which involves activity outside of the office.
  3. Dogs always say hi. When I get home, my dog is always waiting for me in the same spot: right at the door. When I open the door, there she is, jumping around and being as happy as she can be.

Man’s best friend may not be able to verbally teach us lessons, but they can teach us lessons by the ways that they act. Actions do speak louder than words.

Second Try Is The Charm

August 7, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

All of a sudden, I’ve become a Pinterest guy. I always had an account, but I ignored it. As I am learning now, that was a big mistake. I am making up for it though and pinning as much as I can. There is one main reason that I like Pinterest compared to the other social networks.

On Pinterest, I can add as many pictures and links as I want within a given time without getting in trouble. If I tweeted 10 times in a minute, I would flood everyone else’s timeline. On Pinterest, you can flood someone’s timeline, but people still see a lot of images. It’s not bad. In fact, many people pin as much content as they can at one time.

I can find content on the web and pin for hours. At first I wasn’t a big fan of Pinterest, but now I use it every day.

If you don’t like something at first, you might end up liking it when you give it a second try.

People Are Still Climbing The Vine

August 7, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Vine was a genius idea by Twitter which involved recording 6 second videos. Vine ended up becoming its own app and social network. Instagram jumped on the Vine video with an option for an Instagram video which records for 15 seconds and has more features than a Vine video. If you make a mistake on an Instagram video, you can take out some of the video. If you make a mistake on a Vine video, it’s time to start over.

Instagram videos are longer and have more features, but why is Vine still alive? In fact, the words ‘Vine Will Die’ were trending on Twitter when Instagram came out with its new videos. Some people were tweeting things like this:

“Vine (2013-2013).”

But people are still climbing the vine. People are still looking at Vine videos and sharing them with their friends. In fact, I was looking at my Facebook timeline and saw someone sharing a link to a Vine video.

There is a reason why Vine videos are still getting shared. Even though there are a lot of people now using Instagram videos, there is one prime reason that Vine videos are surviving. They aren’t getting shared as many times as Instagram, but when Instagram seems like the better option, why doesn’t everyone just move from Vine to Instagram?

The answer is that whether Vine is better than Instagram videos or not, Vine came first. The first option is the one that gets looked at the most. The second option, the Instagram videos takes time to get used to.

I don’t think Vine will be dying in 2013. The only way Twitter messed up with Vine was by making Vine its own social network. Instagram videos were added to Instagram which meant all 130 million users. Twitter has half a billion users which outnumbers Instagram..by a lot. If Twitter made Vine an application on Twitter, the conversation about Vine today might be different.

What comes first becomes habit. What comes second is different, and it takes time to get used to what comes second if it’s worth getting used to.

Break The Rules

August 6, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There are some rules that are necessary to keep, but there are also rules that must be broken.

One common rule was to work for 8 hours, sleep for 8 hours, and play for the other 8 hours. That sounds like the winning combination since all three activities are done within an even amount of time. At least, we think it’s the winning combination.

When people think of the work that involves the 9 to 5 grind and having a job, that’s work, not play (unless you like your job). However, entrepreneurs have a more flexible schedule. A 9 to 5 routine doesn’t exist.

Entrepreneurs get to break this rule. The 9 to 5 is an 8 hour workday. This rule is hundreds of years old dating back to the late 1700’s back when people normally worked over 10 hours every day. This rule was supposed to reduce the amount of time people could work so they could spend more time with their families.

Is the same rule applied to this day? For most people, that would be yes. Here’s a better question. Does it still work? In this day, entrepreneurs can get easily get work and play mixed up.

Writing is not a chore or work. It is a hobby. Tweeting is not a chore or work. That’s a hobby too. What about the writers who love to write or the people who love to record videos. Is that work or play? Is that work or fun activities?

I don’t count how much time I spend on the computer typing. However, I’m not going to do other things for 8 hours. Today’s version of play has turned into unproductive media. There are people who still bounce the basketball around and run as long as they can, but a majority of time is spent consuming unproductive media.

Work doesn’t have to boring. Work can be fun. Entrepreneurs have the power to choose what they want their business to be about before they start. I enjoy writing books, blog posts, tweets, and pins. I don’t spend 8 hours working on my business. I usually spend more. How much time I spend on my business is something that I don’t want to do the math for. I don’t want to set a daily standard for how many hours I spend working because then the focus shifts to hours, not having fun.

8 hours of rest, 8 hours of work, and 8 hours of fun. I follow the 8 hours of rest, but I don’t follow the other two. I work on my business for well over 8 hours (that’s an educated guess), and when I work on my business, I have fun.

When I’m not working on my business or sleeping, I’m either running, hanging out with a friend, reading a book, or writing goals for my business in my book. When I run, I think about my business. The only way I’m not even thinking about my business or doing any work for my business is when I hang out with a friend.

Here’s how I manage my time. 8 hours of rest and 16 hours of fun. I do have a business and do a lot to enhance that business, but when I do anything for my business, it isn’t work, it’s fun.

There’s other rules that are worth breaking. When we think of rules, we may think of the typical, “You can’t drive until you’re 18 years old,” or something similar. However, there are some rules that are very outdated.

According to the outdated Grammar rule, you can never start a sentence with ‘there are’ or ‘there is.’ There are many people breaking this outdated rule.
