4 Ways To Get More Engagement On Twitter

If you want to get the best out of Twitter, you need to engage with your followers. Many people on Twitter miss this step because the believe of big numbers prevails too often. Increasing engagement on Twitter will allow you to have more conversations with your followers. Having more conversations often results in making more connections. The connections you make can result in a sale, a retweet, or free PR. Now that you know why getting more engagement on Twitter is important, these are the 4 ways to get more engagement on Twitter.

Ask questions. Asking questions is an opinion based strategy that encourages more response. When you ask the question, ask questions that you actually have. Do not ask questions just because I told you to ask them. I am actively reading books, and I wanted to add books to my reading list. That’s why I decided to ask my followers what their favorite books are. Because of the tweet I sent, I ended up adding over 10 books to my reading list that day. In addition, I got to interact with my followers and tell them about books I have read before.
Tweet with pictures. It is a proven fact that tweets with pictures get more engagement than tweets without pictures. With Twitter’s preview feature, pictures get more attention. For good pictures with a meaningful tweet, the added attention results in more engagement than normal. The pictures I tweet usually see four times as many retweets and favorites as my other tweets.
Host a giveaway. On Twitter, baseball fans had to decide who the Face of MLB is. On one of the days, David Wright came up, and fans tweeted with #DavidWright for a while. While the tweeting was taking place, Jay Horwitz decided to have giveaways where fans could meet David Wright, get a signed baseball, and do batting practice with the Mets. Jay Horwitz ended up getting more than a thousand retweets that day which was a lot more than normal for him.
Share tweets people would want to remark on. A tweet that looks like spam is not going to get a lot of engagement. A tweet that reveals something incredible such as where the universe ends, how aliens have been colonizing on Mars for 10,000 years……or just a useful tip, that tweet will get more engagement. Although we do not necessarily know where (or if) the universe ends and aliens have not been colonizing on Mars for 10,000 years, it is important to tweet incredible (but true) tweets. By sending out incredible tweets, more people will be likely to remark (engage) on your tweet.

Reading Mean Tweets

Jimmy Kimmel has a remarkable segment called Mean Tweets in which celebrities read hate tweets that they have received. The segment reveals the celebrities’ reactions towards the hate tweets. Mean Tweets serves as a reminder that celebrities have feelings and what you post on social networks can hurt you.

I happened to watch the segment long after it went live, but I was impressed by the message and elements of humor throughout the segment. Little did I know that a few months later I would be getting a similar tweet. I did nothing to deserve it, but it was there.

For the sake of anonymity, I will not reveal the person who sent the tweet. However, it was an offensive one. Instead of letting that tweet ruin my day, I decided to send out this tweet and write this blog post.

I was not pleased when I saw the mean tweet, but I did not let it ruin my day. Criticisms will be hurled at us, but those criticisms must not crush our motivation.

The Only Thing Just As Good As Innovation

How could there possibly be anything just as good as innovation? That’s what I thought, but sure enough, Seth Godin had the answer in his book, Free Prize Inside. In a world that has been raised to believe that big innovations are the key to success, we forget that small changes resulted in the successes of many companies. We also forget that small changes are just as good as innovation.

Getting rid of a problem is just as good as introducing an innovation. While continuing with new ideas, it is important to pay attention to the problems with your products already out there. One of the problems may be that people cannot contact each other on a membership site. Before creating a training course, you should add a forum to the membership site. The forum solves the problem of members not being able to communicate to each other. In addition, the forum makes the product better.

There are many people who are focused on the growth and expansion of their companies. These people forget about fixing the problems too often, and when problems do not get fixed, they eventually create an outcry. There was an outcry when the public learned that a disgusting pink slime was used to make McNuggets and that Subway’s “fresh” bread included a material that is used to make yoga mats and shoe soles. These outcries forced change, and until the change was made (change in this case most likely means a blue slime or the material that makes car tires), the outcry continued. By making the changes, these fast food restaurants were able to get their customers back.

We are constantly focused on creating new products and making new innovations that people will love. While we create new products and make innovations, it is also important to fix the problems in existing products. Fixing existing problems will result in a better customer experience and more sales.

We always need motivation in order to get the challenging goals accomplished. Having the right mindset is an important factor towards channeling motivation into productivity. The mindset affects how you view goals and the work you need to do to accomplish them. In order to develop a stronger mindset, you need to live by these 20 thoughts.

The grass may be greener on the other side, but instead of switching over, you can make your side greener.
A goal that is 99% complete is a goal that is 1% incomplete.
The more practice we put in, the better we do on game day.
Leaders get to where they are by making it happen, not watching it happen.
The only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves.
We are able to do more if we believe we can do more.
Success comes as a result of taking action.
The only bad mistakes are the ones we do not learn from.
It’s better to make a choice than it is to ponder on the choice for years.
Quit on the things you do not want to do so you can focus on what you are good at.
One person can do so much. Many people can do more.
No one became successful in 1 day. It took many years to build Rome.

Bonus chapters encourage us to buy the same book a second time. A free report encourages us to subscribe to someone’s blog.

People are looking for more ways to gain good attention in growing niches. In order to get more attention, you need to offer a free prize. When there were “Buy Two and Get One For Free” sales at the nearby toy store, I would be at the toy store that day. The thought of getting three products for the price of two encouraged me (and many others) to buy products from these toy stores. These sales were rare which only encouraged more people to get in on the action.

Imagine if you had a free product. Instead of getting a giant boost in sales and then going back to normal, the amount of sales you make can be consistent…and consistently growing. Offering a free prize will give your business more attention. As your business gets more attention, word of mouth will allow your business to spread.

Having a lot of Twitter followers has many benefits. More Twitter followers makes you look like an expert. All you have to do is have tweets that make you look like an expert, and then you are an expert. More Twitter followers can also result in stronger connections and more traffic to your blog. These are 10 ways to get more followers on Twitter.

Follow others. We all envision the world where we have 100,000 followers but are only following 100 people. However, there are not enough people who know about your Twitter account yet. In order to get more people to know about you, you need to follow others so they have a good reason to follow you back.
Be active on Twitter. People will not follow users who have not tweeted for more than a month. You need to be tweeting every day in order to get a stronger following on Twitter.
Get more engagement with your followers. After you get followers, you need to engage with the followers that you do have.

Have a blog. Having a blog is very important towards getting more followers on Twitter. If people see a link to your blog in your bio, they are more likely to follow you.

Guest blog frequently. I recommend guest blogging once every week. When you are guest blogging, be sure to have a link to your Twitter account in your profile to get more followers.
