5 Useful Methods To Get More Repins On Pinterest

July 21, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Pinterest Pinning

Pinterest has a distinct advantage that none of the other social networks have. Its users share a higher percentage of content than other social media users. Out of all of the tweets on Twitter, only 1% of those tweets are retweets. On Pinterest, there is a much different picture. 80% of all of the pins on Pinterest are repins. That means the chances of your content spreading on Pinterest are very high.

Spreading on Pinterest requires you to generate a small push. After you get the small push, other users will hear about you and see your pin. That results in more repins and your content spreading farther on Pinterest. However, many people struggle to get the small push needed to go viral on Pinterest. Few people have pins that have received over 100 repins let alone 10 repins. I am one of the lucky few who has been able to get one of my pins repinned over 100 times. You may want to get your next pin repinned 100 times or at least get to the 10 repin milestone, and here are five useful methods that will help you with that.

  1. Make your boards specific. A pin on a specific board is seen by a target audience who likes that specific topic. The people in this audience would be very likely to repin your pins on that specific board because it is about a topic they already like.
  2. Pin motivational quotes. Pinstamatic is great for pinning motivational quotes. Most of my repins that got over 100 repins happen to be motivational quotes.
  3. Pin about a variety of topics. On Pinterest, it is okay to extend out of your business.   In fact, it is recommended. Pinning about a variety of topics attracts a larger audience of people who will want to repin your pins.
  4. Follow other people. Some of these people will follow you back, and this method has the potential to bring in hundreds of new followers every day. In addition, these people will be more likely to engage with you and share your content since they know you are following them.
  5. Repin other people’s content. If you repin someone else’s content, that person may decide to return the favor by sharing your pins on their account. If you repin 100 people’s pins, and those 100 people returned the favor by repinning one of your pins, then that’s an extra 100 repins that you may have never gotten.

Getting your content to spread on Pinterest will allow you to grow your audience and get more traffic. What are your thoughts on these methods? Do you have any additional methods about getting more repins that you would like to share? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

7 Ways To Get More People To Engage With Your Pins

May 7, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

In order to build strong connections on Pinterest, your followers need to engage with your pins. Being on Pinterest and getting people to follow you is not enough. You need these followers to engage with your pins so that you can have longer conversations with your followers. These are the 7 ways to get more people to engage with your pins.

  1. Include a call to action. A call to action encourages someone to do something (click, like, repin) instead of just reading what is there. Pins that include a call to action have 80% more engagement than pins that do not include a call to action.
  2. Pin about trending topics. When topics trend on Pinterest, millions of people are looking at those topics and engaging with the pins about those topics. Pins related to a trending topic get a 90% increase in click throughs compared to other pins.
  3. Pin more tutorial pins. People are constantly looking for more knowledge. They want to learn more about their niche, learn about a certain craft, or learn a random fact. There are many things that you know about your niche that others do not know. Pinning tutorial pins will portray you as an expert in your niche. In addition, tutorial pins see a 42% higher click through rate than the average pin.
  4. Pin when most people are on Pinterest. While most people on Facebook and Twitter use those social networks in the morning, most people on Pinterest tend to be active during the evening. In addition, many people are addicted to Pinterest, and these people are on Pinterest for several hours every day. According to HubSpot, the ideal times to pin on Pinterest are between 2pm-4pm and 8pm-1am It is important to not overlook that the time is 8 at night. The ideal time to post on most social networks is 8 am, but Pinterest is different. There are many night owls who use Pinterest, and it is important to pin at those times to get the most engagement for your pins.
  5. Like and repin other people’s pins. When you repin other people’s pins, those people will get notified that you liked and/or repinned one of their pins. Some of these people will decide to return the favor and comment on one of your pins as well.
  6. Decide whether you want people to share your pin or have a discussion. You will want some of your pins to get shared across Pinterest while you would prefer that other pins build discussions with you and your followers. Pins with a lot of repins are more likely to be shared across Pinterest while pins with more likes encourage more discussion. The best thing to do is have some pins that encourage sharing and other pins that encourage discussion. In order to find out which pins would lead to what effect, you need to see how your followers have engaged with the pins that you have already sent out. If you do not know how your followers engage with your pins, then you need to send out several pins and see which ones get multiple repins and which ones get multiple likes.
  7. Build a targeted following. A targeted following who is interested in what you provide will definitely like and repin your pins. If you talk about sports, and all of your followers love sports, your pins are going to see more engagement. Building a targeted following will also help you when someone clicks on the pin and gets sent to your blog.

These are the 7 ways to build more engagement for your pins. The average pin has a 1.1% click through rate. By using Tips 1-3 in the same pin, you would boost that click through rate to 5.3%. By using tips 4-7, you would get more people to see your pins with those high click through rates. By getting more people to see your pins with higher click through rates, you would be able to get several likes, repins, and comments for your pins.

The 3 Characteristics Of A Perfect Pin

March 26, 2014 by Marc Guberti 8 Comments

In order to get the best from Pinterest, you need to send out pins that people will want to repin. The pin that people would want to repin, the perfect pin, has several characteristics. However, when all of these characteristics are put into 1 pin, you will see more repins. These are the three characteristics of a perfect pin.

  1. Pin a picture that grabs our attention. Small pictures get little attention while big pictures get a lot of attention. In addition, the color yellow grabs our attention quicker than any other color.
  2. The picture needs to be cool or have a powerful message. Now that you have our attention, we need a reason to repin your pin. This is when either being cool or motivational will result in more repins. 3D printing is cool because it is an innovation. That’s why most of my repinned pins are 3D printed creations. Motivation comes in the forms of inspirational “go get ‘em” quotes.
  3. Have a description that explains your picture. In 1-2 sentences, briefly describe the picture you pinned. Tell people what the picture is even if the picture is of something that we all know. If you pin a picture of a rabbit, be sure to tell us that it is a rabbit. We know what rabbits look like, but on Pinterest, you need to tell them what your picture is.

The next time you send out a pin on Pinterest, be sure that you are sending out the perfect pin. These kinds of pins get repinned more often than the average pin. Some perfect pins even go viral. What are your thoughts on the perfect pin? Do you have any additional tips or thoughts? Please share them below.

How To Rock Pinterest

December 16, 2013 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

There aren’t nearly as many Pinterest tools as there are Twitter tools. In addition, most of the Pinterest tools need to be paid for in order to show what a Twitter tool would show you for free. Tailwind is a Pinterest tool that gives you a week’s worth of statistics for free, and then by paying $29/month, you get some features including statistics for up to 90 days. TwitterCounter is free Twitter tool that gives you 6 months of statistics without any cost.

The Pinterest tools are going to catch up eventually, but for now, there needs to be a way to get a big following on Pinterest. The best way to get more followers on Pinterest is by following the followers of someone in your niche who has thousands of followers.

The follow ratio is not as essential on Pinterest as it is for other social networks. There are a lot of people on Pinterest who have over 1,000 followers who are also following 5,000 people. You may have a ratio like this if you follow this plan, but it’s better to have 1,000 followers while following 5,000 people than having 100 followers while following 0 people.

After you follow as many people as you can until you exceed Pinterest’s maximum follow rate (500 people every hour), pin at least 20 times. The more pins you pin, the more repins you get. When I stopped using Pinterest, I didn’t get as many repins. Now that I am using Pinterest again and sending out at least 20 pins every day, I am getting at least 20 repins every day.

By pinning on boards with a lot of pins, you will also boost the exposure for your past pins. Some of your followers will click on your board to see what other pins on your board are. One of my pins that went viral and then stopped getting repins got repinned 10 times in a day. Maybe it will go viral again, or maybe I send out another pin that goes viral.

The recipe to rocking Pinterest is following a lot of people and being very active on the site. When you do both of those things at the same time, you will get more followers than ever before.

Pin And Be Repinned

December 11, 2013 by Marc Guberti 3 Comments

Did you know that over 80% of all pins are repins? This statistic has been all over the place, but not everyone is getting the repins they expect. By utilizing Pinterest very well, you will be able to get more repins.

The best way to get repins is to pin consistently. There was a stretch when I only came out with 2 pins a day for about a month. I did not get a lot of repins for any of my 2,000 pins. I recently started to pin again, and now I get numerous repins every day for my old and new pins. You may be wondering why this was the case.

Here’s why: People forget about new things easily. If you see a new person’s pin once, you are bound to forget about that person unless you see more of their pins. When I decided to pin more, I wasn’t sending out 5 or 10 pins a day. I was sending out over 50 pins every day. Consistently pinning at that rate really adds up towards the total number of pins on your account. As people saw more of my pins, they decided to take a look and repin some of my pins. Some Pinterest users scroll up and down until they see all of the pins for a particular board. When that happens, you typically get 100 messages (depending on the number of pins on that board) telling you that someone repinned one of your pins.

Pinning consistently has its benefits. Getting more repins is one of them.
