20 Ways To Get More Subscribers On YouTube

April 16, 2014 by Marc Guberti 12 Comments

Subscribers are critical towards your success on YouTube. Subscribers are the ones who enjoy watching your content and get notified each time you come out with a new video. Getting YouTube subscribers is so important that I could not possibly make this a short list. I needed to create a giant list which is why for this blog post, I will share with you 20 ways to get more subscribers on YouTube.

  1. Upload more videos. People will need to watch multiple videos on your channel before they decide to subscribe to your channel. I upload at least 3 videos each week to provide additional options to my subscribers. You want to start with at least 1 new video each week and build your way up. Just don’t upload too much because your viewers then won’t be able to keep up.
  2. Include a channel trailer. In 1-2 minutes, tell people what kind of videos you upload on YouTube, and don’t be shy to share your credentials. In this channel trailer, encourage viewers to subscribe to your channel and hit the notifications bell. If someone is watching your channel trailer, it means they are not yet subscribed to your channel.
  3. Tweet your videos. By tweeting your videos and getting some of your followers to look at a couple of your videos, you will get more subscribers. And don’t be afraid of tweeting the same video more than once. People forget, and you will continue to interact with people on Twitter who haven’t seen the video you released more than a year ago.
  4. Pin your videos and scatter those pins across different boards. You can watch a YouTube video on Pinterest without leaving the social network. However, you want people to leave Pinterest so they can subscribe to your channel. In the description, mention that there are more videos on your channel which you can get to by clicking on a link in the description. You can also create an optimized picture for Pinterest and send people to the YouTube video if they click on the picture.
  5. Have a YouTube subscribe button on your blog. By having a YouTube subscribe button on your blog, you will be able to get a new subscriber without forcing someone to leave your blog. It’s a win-win for everyone!
  6. Have a “click here to subscribe” annotation on the corner of all of your videos. Have the annotation link to a subscription confirmation for your channel. All you need to do is paste the link in the box and from the drop down options, choose “subscribe.” By doing this, anyone who clicks on the annotation automatically gets subscribed to your channel. UPDATE: Annotations are a thing of the past. You can use add a watermark logo on the bottom right of your videos which encourages your audience to subscribe. It creates the same effect. For people who want to know, YouTube stopped annotations because they never worked with YouTube’s mobile app.
  7. Urge people to subscribe to your channel, but don’t beg. Urging people in the proper way can be done by saying, “If you enjoyed this video, then make sure you subscribe and hit the notifications bell so you don’t miss a single video or live stream.” Begging is just saying, “Please, please, pretty please subscribe to my YouTube channel.”
  8. Post your videos on Facebook. Some of your friends will end up subscribing to your YouTube channel. It is important to interact with the fan base that you have already built in order to get more subscribers for your channel. It’s a good practice to post a picture of the thumbnail and include the YouTube video’s link in a comment. Facebook prefers that you natively upload videos to their platform. This workaround helps you get exposure for your YouTube videos without getting reduced exposure from Facebook’s algorithm.
  9. Consistently publish videos. If you post videos on a consistent basis, people will notice and subscribe to your channel. If you do a new live stream on a specific time and day each week, you’ll quickly build a strong community around your content.
  10. Let people know when you publish your videos. I let everyone know that I publish my videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays with the live streams taking place every Thursday at 2 pm eastern. I use my channel artwork to clearly display when I’m publishing new content and what topics I focus on.
  11. Share your videos on Google+. Having a Google+ account is very helpful towards getting more YouTube subscribers. Not only do you get an entire page dedicated to all of your YouTube videos, but Google+ is also a Google-owned product, just like YouTube. Using Google+ to promote your YouTube channel will allow you to put the trifecta into action! UPDATE: Google+ is gone so I’d recommend picking your favorite social network for this one. LinkedIn is a great and untapped social network for business owners.
  12. Post videos on a frequent basis. When I decided to publish 1 YouTube video every week, I saw a dramatic increase in the number of subscribers I got for my channel. If you are publishing 1 YouTube video every week, you will give your subscribers more to watch, and they will be back for more. Publishing 1 YouTube video every year is still being consistent, but you need to combine consistency with frequency.
  13. Properly tag your videos. Use phrases that you would want people to search for in order to find your videos. If your video is about getting more retweets, “how to get more repins on Pinterest” would not be a good tag to use. I recommend using tools like VidIQ and TubeBuddy to figure out the tags and keywords that give you the best chance at dominating the YouTube algorithm.
  14. Write good titles for your videos. In your title, you need to tell people what your video is going to be about. The longer the title, the better, but make sure you include your keywords in that title.
  15. Write descriptions correctly. Write a lengthy, readable description that is filled with keywords. You can create a description people would want to read that also has a bunch of keywords in it. It’s a different style of writing but one that doesn’t have a big learning curve. Also make sure you include important links in your description such as a link for people to subscribe to your channel and to a free offer that asks for an email address.
  16. Create quality videos. This means creating a script, having the right lighting, and no unexpected sounds in the background.
  17. Interact with the subscribers that you already have. The subscribers that you already have can tell their friends about you. By interacting with your subscribers, you will be getting more subscribers via word of mouth.
  18. Have a strategic channel background. The channel background should be a picture of you at your profession or something that relates to your niche.
  19. Subscribe to other people’s YouTube channels. Some of these people will subscribe back to your channel while others will interact with you. You can also look for YouTubers in your niche who you can collaborate with in the future.
  20. Comment on other people’s videos. This will give you backlinks on YouTube which  allows you to rank higher on YouTube’s search results. Some people who read your comment may decide to subscribe to your channel.

And if you want to learn how I use YouTube to get more book sales and clients, use this link to schedule a free strategy call with me to see if we are a good fit.

Those are the 20 ways to get more subscribers on YouTube. It is a lengthy list compared to most of my other lists (this one’s from a few years ago. Lists have gotten much longer), but since getting subscribers is critical to success on YouTube, I felt the need to make this list longer than normal. What are your thoughts about the list, and are there any suggestions that you have?

Take Advantage Of A Problem By Being The Solution

April 7, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

If you’re like me, you use some of Google’s services and have no idea how half of them work. Adsense and broadcasted Google Hangouts are some of the services I have trouble with (I spent $15 to create a screen recorder for Google Hangouts so I can put those videos on YouTube). Chances are you are probably just like me or were just like me at one point. There are millions of people who have no idea how to use certain Google services or how certain features work. The worst part is that Google makes changes to many of its services every year. Someone who could host a Google Hangout in 2013 would have to relearn how to host a Google Hangout this year.

Let’s continue with my story of misfortune and hope that I am two for two. If you’re like me, you have watched videos or read articles on blogs to try to solve the problem. When seeing someone using the Google service that we cannot get to function, that person suddenly looks like one of those super humans chosen by the ancients or something cool like that.

While trying to find the fix for one of my Google services, I ended up reading 10 blog posts from the same blog dealing with this issue. I did not find the solution to the giant puzzle (trying to use a Google service that is not functioning properly). However, one blogger just got an extra visitor and 10 pageviews. Some people on YouTube got some extra views as well.

As these people get more visitors, pageviews, and views, their SEO increases, and they start to see traffic on the rise. What happened? These people knew the solution to a problem that millions of people have. Not all of these millions of people will get a solution from a single video, but as these people get more views for their videos about Google services, their other videos get viewed as well. In addition, their blogs also get more visitors and pageviews.

There are plenty of problems out there. If you are a solution to one of the problems that a large group of people have, numerous people will come to you to get the answer.

10 Ways To Get More Subscribers On YouTube

February 25, 2014 by Marc Guberti 21 Comments

Have you ever wondered why some people struggle to get 10 subscribers while others are getting thousands of subscribers every day? There are plenty of factors that determine how many subscribers people get on YouTube. Some people on YouTube happened to be celebrities before they created their YouTube accounts while other people became celebrities because of YouTube.

Getting subscribers on YouTube is critical because your subscribers will know when you come out with a new video. More subscribers always results in more views and ultimately allow you to build a stronger presence on YouTube. In order to get more subscribers for your YouTube channel, follow these 10 tips:

  1. Have numerous videos. Many of the famous people on YouTube have uploaded well over 100 videos. If you want to get more subscribers on YouTube, you need to present your viewers with more videos. Giving your viewers more videos to watch will allow them to see more of what you have done. When your viewers see multiple videos, they will subscribe to your channel.
  2. Upload quality videos. You know about Geico’s hilarious Hump Day commercial. You remember the videos that went viral because they got a lot of viewers, but also because those viral videos were really good. In order to get more subscribers, you need to upload quality videos so your viewers have a good reason to subscribe to your channel.
  3. Host a giveaway on YouTube. Giveaways always result in more engagement, subscribers, and followers. Hosting a giveaway creates the buzz that will have other people telling their friends about you. The $1.5 million giveaway completely changed Esurance’s presence on Twitter.
  4. Spread the word about your YouTube channel on other social networks. Tell people about your videos using your other social networks. Telling other people about your channel and videos will result in more views and ultimately, more subscribers.
  5. Consistently upload videos. By consistently uploading videos to your YouTube channel, your viewers will know exactly when you will be coming out with another video. People will subscribe to your channel because they know you are active on YouTube, and they know the exact date and time of your next video.
  6. Tell your viewers what your next video will be. This helps to create the buzz for your next video. If your viewers want to stay informed about your next video, the best way to do that is by subscribing to your channel.
  7. Ask for people to subscribe to your channel at the end of your videos. This method will be effective depending on how good your videos are and how many videos your viewers watch. This method is utilized by people with over 10,000 subscribers. However, do not beg for your viewers to subscribe to your channel. Asking and begging are two different things. When asking for subscribers, use annotations. The annotations should tell people what they will get for subscribing to your channel.
  8. Interact with the people who comment on your videos. If someone comments on your video saying you did a fabulous job or asking you a question, respond to that comment with the right response. Whether thanking someone for the complement or answering a question, interacting with your viewers will make them more likely to subscribe to your channel.
  9. Add a YouTube widget to your blog. If your blog is already getting a lot of traffic, you will easily be able to get more subscribers with a YouTube widget. With the widget, visitors will be able to subscribe to your channel without leaving your blog. It’s a win-win!
  10. Interact with other YouTubers. You do not have to only interact with the people who leave comments on your videos. Instead, you can also leave comments on other people’s videos and interact with them that way.

Those are 10 powerful ways to get more YouTube subscribers. If you have any other methods to get more YouTube subscribers, or you want to share your opinion about this blog post, please share your thoughts below.

20 Ways To Get More Views On YouTube

February 18, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

YouTube gets over 1 billion unique visitors every month. However, there are many videos on YouTube that don’t have over 100 views. In fact, some YouTube videos have not been viewed at all. In order to gain a powerful presence on YouTube, your videos need to get viewed more often. Here are 20 different ways to get more people viewing your YouTube videos.

  1. Publish videos at a consistent basis. I publish a video every Saturday at 9 am EST.
  2. Tell people about your videos using your other social networks. When I tweeted about my YouTube videos, the number of views I got on my YouTube videos tripled.
  3. Have links to older YouTube videos in your new videos. You may decide to add some links in the middle of the video. However, you should always have links to your older YouTube videos at the end of your older ones just like Brussup.
  4. Tell people to subscribe to your channel at the end of your videos. Once someone subscribes to your channel, that person is more likely to watch any videos you upload in the future.
  5. Have a link of one of your older videos in your new video’s description. Make sure both of the videos are similar to each other before you do this.
  6. Host a giveaway on YouTube. This will get you more subscribers, views, and comments.
  7. Comment on other people’s videos. Doing this gives you backlinks on YouTube. Make the decision to comment on 5 videos every day about your niche.
  8. Promote your YouTube videos on your blog. I have a page on my blog with some of my videos.
  9. Create a prelaunch plan for your video in which you tell people about your video on your social networks before it launches.
  10. Contact popular blogs and give them exclusive access to your video before it launches.
  11. Write blog posts dedicated to your YouTube channel.
  12. Organize your videos on your channel so your visitors can easily access your videos based on their desired topics and subtopics.
  13. Create a YouTube video with a list. People love lists.
  14. See what kinds of videos are getting a lot of views in your niche and create videos about similar topics.
  15. Ask the experts what allowed them to become successful on YouTube. You never know what you will learn.
  16. Use HARO to get free PR. HARO can help out towards getting more views on YouTube and getting more subscribers.
  17. Have a video in your channel that automatically plays when someone visits your channel. Each time someone visits your channel, you automatically get a view.
  18. Have a good thumbnail for your YouTube video. A bad thumbnail makes people less likely to watch a video while a good thumbnail makes people more likely to watch a video.
  19. Create quality videos that are worth sharing. The quality of your video will decide how long your viewers watch your video and if they decide to watch your other videos as well.
  20. Look at the experts in your niche and find patterns. Copy the patterns that work in order to get more views on YouTube.

Remember that everyone starts out with 0 views. By implementing these tactics, you will see a gradual increase in traffic. Implementing these tactics won’t result in you having 100,000 views in 24 hours, but these tactics will help your YouTube videos get more views.

5 Ways To Get More Views On YouTube

January 17, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

There are over a billion unique visitors on YouTube every month, and more people than ever are trying to get a small piece of that traffic. However, people who just start their new channels realize that getting a small piece of YouTube’s traffic is not as easy as expected. In order to get more views on YouTube, follow these 5 steps.

  1. Create quality videos. Spend the time to make sure that your video is the cream of the crop. The quality videos, whether they be comical or educational, are the ones with the most traffic.
  2. Promote your YouTube videos on your social networks once every two days. This will result in more people knowing about your videos. One tweet does not do the job. Many tweets spread over a long period of time get the job done.
  3. Have a channel trailer. The channel trailer automatically plays right when someone looks at your channel. That way, you will automatically get another view.
  4. Have catchy titles. Titles that few people would think of and creative puns work very well on YouTube. The title of the video will allow a person to decide whether or not they want to view your video.
  5. Create videos that people watch a lot of. Lego reviews are very popular on YouTube. My most popular video is currently a Lego review done in under 30 seconds. I am going to create a channel about Legos to get more views on YouTube as well as maintaining the channel I currently use.

What are your tips and tactics to get more views on YouTube? Please share them below.

7 Ways To Get More Views On YouTube

November 26, 2013 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Get More YouTube Views

YouTube is a powerful way to get your message and expertise out to the public. However, no one gets to know about your message and expertise if you aren’t getting YouTube views. As you get more views, more people will know about your message and expertise, and as a result, you will get more subscribers, sales, and followers on other social networks.

These are the 7 ways to get more views on YouTube so more people can know about your message and expertise:

  1. Publish videos consistently. If people know when you will come out with a new video, they will know when to go back on your channel to see a new video.
  2. Have a lot of videos. The first video may be good enough to get a subscriber, but your subscribers won’t be replaying that first video all day long. You need to publish new YouTube videos as frequently as possible so your subscribers and viewers have more options.
  3. Feature your other YouTube videos during the final seconds of your other YouTube videos. After watching a video, the process of looking for another video to watch from the same person can lose the attention of some of your viewers. At the end of every YouTube video, you will see more options. When one of your viewers sees another option, that can result in you losing another view. When you are finished with your video, include links to 6 of your other YouTube videos at the very end. This will give your viewers easily accessible options. When the options are easy to find, your viewers will view more of your videos.
  4. Tell them who you are. When people view your YouTube video for the first time, they won’t know who you are. They don’t know your name or anything about what you do. Start all of your videos by telling everyone who you are.
  5. Comment on other people’s videos. By commenting on other people’s videos, you will build more backlinks for your YouTube channel. Those backlinks will result in you getting more viewers.
  6. Create a video that answers your viewers’ questions (FAQ). Ultimately, it is your viewers who decide how many tweets contain a link to your video, how many friends get to know about it on Facebook, and how many people get to see your video on Pinterest. By creating a video that answers frequently asked questions about your expertise, your video is more likely to be shared.
  7. Use a channel trailer to get more subscribers. If the channel trailer does a good job at explain who you are, your message, and your expertise, more people will subscribe to your channel. The channel trailer automatically plays so it will be able to rake up views, and people will have to click the pause button in order for the video to stop playing. As the video plays, some of the viewers will continue watching the trailer until they ultimately subscribe to your channel.
