How To Build A Following From Day 1 And Get Over 1,000 Followers In The First 2 Weeks

February 6, 2014 by Marc Guberti 5 Comments

new twitter user

The most challenging task for anyone new to any social network is building a following from Day 1. On the first day, people are quick to look at the celebrities with over a million followers and people with over 100,000 followers saying to themselves, “This must be easy. There are over 100 million people on Twitter. If only 0.1% of the people on Twitter followed me, I would have 100,000 followers.”

The problem is that getting there is not easy. It either involves at least a year of gaining followers and building connections or spending a lot of money to buy fake followers (not recommended, people get caught).

In order to build a following from Day 1, you need to ask all of your friends out there to follow you. Some people will be able to get 20 extra followers this way while other people can get to 100 followers. Now that you have some people following you, find people in your niche and connect with them. Follow the people you talk to, and make sure those people’s following/follower numbers indicate that they are likely to follow you back. If used well, this method can easily get you 100-200 followers in a span of two weeks.

After that, use a third-party tool to get some kind of point currency for every person you follow. When I had less than 1,000 followers on Twitter, I would be on Twiends every day following other people. I would follow 100 people and end up getting 100 followers every day. These followers were not targeted, but nevertheless, some of them would interact with me.

In order to get your first 1,000 followers in 2 weeks, you would need to gain 72 followers every day. That seems like a big number for beginners, but by being active on Twiends and telling your friends to follow you on your social networks, you will be able to get your first 1,000 followers in 2 weeks. You should not rely on these tactics to get you to your first 100,000 followers or even your first 3,000 followers. However, having 1,000 followers gives you something to stand by on this big web of ours. The more you stand out, the more you are going to get noticed, and having over 1,000 followers is a great way to stand out.

Just make sure you never resolve to buying fake followers and that you interact with the followers that you have.

5 Ways To Double Your Blog’s Traffic

January 21, 2014 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

The one thing on every blogger’s mind is getting more traffic that will lead to more sales, subscribers, and visibility. Doubling traffic is the dream of many bloggers. Whether that means going from 10 daily visitors to 20 daily visitors or going from 500 daily visitors to 1,000 daily visitors, bloggers want to double their traffic. In this blog post, I will show you five different ways to double your traffic. That means you will be able to get 10 times more traffic than now by implementing these tactics. I decided to add links to some of my older blog posts in order to provide more information about certain topics.

  1. Use Twitter to promote your blog. When you use Twitter to promote your blog, you need to grow a targeted following and consistently tweet frequently. Be sure to start and respond to conversations. Conversations on Twitter have the potential to lead to friendships and powerful connections. I tweet as frequently as I can throughout the day so more people see my blog. Tweeting a link to your blog at 3 pm does no good if most of your followers happen to use Twitter at 6 pm.
  2. Improve your blog’s SEO. By improving your blog’s SEO, people will have an easier time finding your blog on Google’s search engines. These are some tactics that will help you improve your blog’s SEO, but one of the easiest ones to implement is bounce rate. All you have to do is have links to your older blog posts in your new blog posts in order to get a lower bounce rate. After improving my blog’s SEO, my visitors stuck around because of my blog’s low bounce rate, and I saw an immediate increase in search engine traffic.
  3. Use Pinterest to promote your blog too. When you use Pinterest to promote your blog, you need to include pictures on your blog. Adding pictures helped me get a lot of traffic, and adding a “Pin It” button at the bottom of my blog posts increased the amount of times people shared my blog posts. A great way to get more Pinterest followers is by following others with this strategy in mind. As your boards get more pins, it will be okay to pin the same blog post multiple times because people are not likely to scroll all the way down. By consistently pinning old and new blog posts, your blog will be able to get more traffic.
  4. Guest blog on other people’s blogs. Guest blogging puts your content in front of a larger audience. That means more people will tweet your blog posts, share them on Facebook, pin them, and use all of the other social networks to tell more people about you. While it is important to start guest blogging as soon as possible, it is also important to identify the best guest blogging opportunity for you. Although people do not always come directly to your blog from the guest post, they will see your name more often. As people see you more frequently, they will have more trust in you. With that trust, they will look at your blog posts, subscribe to your blog, and buy your products.
  5. Get more people to write about you. These are the methods I use to get more people to write about me. By getting more people to write about you, more people will notice you. Having a remarkable story always helps out when it comes to getting more people to write about you.

Those are the 5 tactics I used to double my blog traffic. By implementing all five of these tactics, my blog went from 40 daily views to over 400 daily views in a few months. All of these tactics take time in order to see the results. However, after a few months, you will be able to see the big increase in traffic that all bloggers dream of.

3 Ways To Keep The Social In Social Media

January 3, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Social media is a powerful tool to build awareness for a blog, product, or service. However, when most people use social media, they only think of the media aspect: reaching out to more people and getting the benefits. More and more people are forgetting to be social on social media.

Being social on social media can be the difference between followers who know who you are and followers who scroll down your Twitter timeline for minutes. Being social on social media can bring forth friendships, clients, and sales. In order to stay social on the big social networking platforms we use today, you need to know these three things:

  1. See who is mentioning you. Some of the people who are mentioning you could be asking you a question or thanking you for your good work. Search for your name in the search box in order to see who is mentioning you.
  2. Respond to those people. Whether your response is a thank you or an answer to a question, you need to respond to those people. By responding to your followers, you will show them that you care about them.
  3. Check at least three times every day. You never know when someone will mention you, reply to one of your tweets, or respond to your response. By responding quickly, people will still be a part of the conversation which will allow the conversation to last for a longer period of time. This will allow you to bond with more of your followers.

Social media is referred to as a tool to increase traffic. However, we must also use social media for its purpose which is socializing.

You Get More Exposure Each Time You Follow Someone

December 17, 2013 by Marc Guberti 6 Comments

Following back has been proven to work, but a lot of people don’t realize how much exposure you get from following other people back. It took me a long time to realize that for every person you follow, you get more exposure.

When you follow someone, you appear in their list of followers. When someone views that list of followers, they have a chance of finding you. If you follow 1,000 people, you are in 1,000 lists. If you follow 10,000 people, you are in 10,000 lists. All it takes to join a list is by clicking on the follow button. There will be people who appear above you since the list goes from the newest followers to the oldest followers. However, there will be a point when you are the newest follower and your name appears on the top.

If you consistently follow more people every day, you will always be on the top of someone’s list. People who seek a targeted following look at the followers someone else has and follows those people. If you are on the top of the list, the people who see you as a targeted follower are going to follow you.

Following others will lead to follow backs, but it also leads to you account getting promoted. This is just another reason why following others on Twitter is essential.

Hashtags: The SEO For Twitter

December 1, 2013 by Marc Guberti 2 Comments

Chances are you know what a hashtag is. Millions of people know what a hashtag is, but not everyone is implementing hashtags on Twitter. Hashtags are like the SEO for Twitter. The more hashtags you use, the more people see you. However, a tweet with too many hashtags doesn’t encourage people to click that follow button.

The best way to implement hashtags in your tweets is by using a maximum of 3 hashtags in the same tweet. At the end of a link to an article, you can put three hashtags that explain what the article is all about. You can also include hashtags in the tweets. If I tweet an article called, “Top 10 Twitter Tips,” I would write the tweet as Top 10 #Twitter Tips,” (with the link).

The reason I put the hashtag in front of Twitter is because I want my target audience to find me. People who are interested in Twitter, Social Media, Blogging, Business, and a few other things (or a combination of these things) are my target audience. When people search those terms using Twitter’s search box, my tweets come up since I use those hashtags.

You need hashtags in your Twitter strategy because they increase visibiltiy. Including or leaving out the hashtags in your tweets can be the difference between a surge of followers and only getting a few followers.
