How To Get People To Repin Your Older Pins

March 25, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

Get More Repins

An important way to get more followers on Pinterest is to be an active user on Pinterest. However, as your activity increases, new pins will push your older pins towards the bottom of your boards. This results in less people seeing your older pins, and also, less repins. There is a way to solve this problem, and I am going to show you exactly how to do that.

The first thing you need to do is create irresistible boards. Quality boards are not enough in a world that couldn’t stress quality more than it already has. In order to get more repins for your older pins, your boards need to be about something that people will not want to leave. My most repinned boards are 3D Printed Creations and Inspirational Quotes. Since 3D Printing is the big innovation and inspirational quotes make people feel good about themselves, those are the two boards where my followers view my older pins. Some of my followers pin more than 100 pins on those two boards because these boards are irresistible. These two boards have exactly what my followers wanted to see.

Another way to get people to repin your older pins is by embedding pins on your blog. Even if you start off by pinning your new pins, those new pins are going to get old. A pin I sent out in November 2013 was at one point a new pin. Now it is an old pin, and just like this pin, all new pins will eventually become old. By embedding these pins on your blog, more people will be able to see the pins. When more people see your older pins, that will also result in more repins.

Create boards that are irresistible so your followers are scrolling down until they get to the end of the board. Write compelling blog posts with embedded pins that grab attention and lead your visitors to your irresistible boards. Once you do these two things, your older pins will get repinned more often.

4 Ways To Get More Likes On Pinterest

March 18, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

On Pinterest, likes on a pin indicates popularity. The more likes a pin has, the more popular it is. Likes also help out in letting you know how much quality attention (compared to attention) your pins are getting on your followers’ timelines. Getting more likes on Pinterest will also encourage more people to follow you and like the pin. The thinking process is that if a lot of people like the pin, the pinner and the pin are both good. This equates to a follow, like, and maybe a repin. These are some of the many advantages of getting more likes on Pinterest, and without any further adieu, here are the 4 ways to get more likes on Pinterest.

  1. Build a targeted following. A targeted following is a group of people who are interested in what you pin about before seeing your pins. People interested in social media, business, and blogging are my targeted followers. When they see my pins, they already like the topic which makes them more likely to like my pins.
  2. Pin the things that you would like. Liking your own pins is a desperate plee to get other people to see a number in the like column. However, if the pin was sent by someone else, would you click on the like button? Send out the pins that you like, and in return, some of your targeted followers will like the pin as well.
  3. Host a giveaway that requires likes. I got 3 likes and 3 repins in a matter of minutes after I hosted a giveaway for my Power Blogging Training Course. If I extended the date of the giveaway, I could have probably gotten more likes and repins. When you are hosting a giveaway, the prize plays a big role towards how many likes the pin gets.
  4. Promote your pins on your blog. Your blog is a great place to promote your pins. After reading your blog posts and seeing one of your pins, some of your visitors will like your pins.

Those are 4 ways to get more likes on your pins. What did you think of the list, and what other tips would you like to share? Please share your thoughts and insights below.

How To Get More People From Pinterest To Visit Your Blog

January 12, 2014 by Marc Guberti 8 Comments

For the first time ever, my blog experienced back to back days of getting more than 20 visitors from Pinterest. Before this happened, I would normally get 5 visitors from Pinterest on a daily basis. I looked into what I did on Pinterest that day, and it didn’t take me long to realize why I got the growth in traffic.

The first thing I did was follow others. I must have followed at least 1,000 people on Pinterest on those days when I got more traffic. The following rate on Pinterest is about 300 people every hour. Once you reach the maximum rate, you can go back on Pinterest the next hour and follow another 300 people. That’s exactly what I did on those two days when I got more traffic from Pinterest than ever before.

When you follow other people on Pinterest, make sure they are your target audience. I follow people who are following boards about social media and blogging. I also make sure the people I follow are likely to follow me back. On the days my blog gets the most traffic from Pinterest, I am also gaining more Pinterest followers on that day than on any other day of the week.

Another thing you need to do is have a board with all of your blog posts. This is the board that I pin all of my blog posts on. When you write a blog post, it is very important to add pictures to your blog posts so people can pin your blog posts. Add pictures that give people an idea of what your blog post is about. This blog post has a picture of Pinterest’s logo because people who look at my board and find this pin will know what this blog post is about. When people see the YouTube logo, they know that the blog post is about YouTube videos.

When you have a board with over a hundred pins, not everyone is going to scroll down to the bottom of your board. Some of your older blog posts will be forgotten…unless you pin about them again. By pinning about your older blog posts, you will give your older blog posts relevance. People will visit your older blog posts just like they would visit any new blog post. If you decide to use this method, only pin 5 old blog posts every day. If you pin 100 old blog posts daily, people won’t have time to read them all. In addition, if you only have a few hundred posts, people will be annoyed with the repeat pins. It is okay to pin the same thing more than once on a board as long as you pin the same thing too often. I recommend pinning the same blog post on the same board once a week.

That’s how you can increase the traffic you get from Pinterest. I used these tactics to go from 5 daily visitors from Pinterest to over 50 daily visitors from Pinterest. The only way to see what this can do for your traffic is by giving it a try.

11 Ways To Get More Followers On Pinterest

August 12, 2013 by Marc Guberti 8 Comments

I am very impressed with Pinterest. I never thought I would be using it, but here I am today pinning as much as I can. Pinterest is powerful social network that is the perfect place to share your hobbies, products, and more. Here are 11 ways to get more Pinterest followers:

  1. Pin a lot. A majority of people with over a million followers also have thousands of pins. Don’t expect to get 1 million followers when you get your first 1,000 or even 5,000 pins, but just keep pinning. Don’t make it annoying for your followers though. Pin 3 times on one board and shift to the other. No one likes spam.
  2. Include pictures on your blog. This is one of the rare times this blog has a picture of it, but with a picture, you can promote your blog posts on Pinterest. I might even revamp some of the blog posts just to make my blog more Pinterest friendly.
  3. Comment on other people’s pins. When people look at a popular pin, they will see your comment. If your comment is the only one there, you get the spotlight.
  4. Pin quality pictures. No matter what you pursue, quality is essential. You need quality pins in order to get more followers. Make the pictures shocking, relevant, humorous, or meaningful. Quality beats quantity.
  5. Use Pinterest as much as you can. The Pinterest power users (all of those people with over a million followers) use Pinterest a lot. One person said she uses Pinterest more than she uses her email.
  6. Don’t talk about one thing. People aren’t going to follow someone just for social media advice. You are going to have to offer a wider variety of pins. If some of your boards are about food, create some boards about some of your favorite product. Then, create some boards about animals, architecture, sports, and anything else that you can think of.
  7. Be as specific as possible. Social media advice is not narrow enough. Social media advice is advice for Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and so on. Instead of creating one giant board, create boards with specific niches such as “Facebook Advice” or even better, “How To Market Your Facebook Page.”
  8. Use a lot of hashtags. When you use hashtags, more people will find you on Pinterest. When I pin about getting more Pinterest followers, I always use “#Pinterest” because more people will be able to find me. That board is also my most followed board.
  9. Spend most of your time on a few of your boards. The people who have over a million followers on Pinterest usually have only one or two boards that are actually being followed by millions of people. The other boards get followed by tens of thousands of people which is still good though. Focus most of your time on one, two, or three boards at most.
  10. When choosing the board to work on, look at how many people are following each of your boards. The most followed boards are the ones you should work on because people want to know more about that topic.
  11. Get to your first thousand followers. Once you get there, you’ll get a lot more followers. This applies for all social networks. It will take longer for some people to reach 1,000 followers than others. However, when you reach that milestone, more people will start following you. When my Twitter account reached 1,000 followers, I went from gaining about 10 followers a day to gaining over 20 followers every day.

You won’t go from 250 followers to 25,000 followers in 3 days (unless you’re Andrew “Oyl” Miller). It takes time to grow a big following, but with time, you will eventually have that big following you’ve always dreamed of.
