52% Of This Blog’s Traffic Came From Social Media For Three Months

June 25, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

social media traffic

Last May was a really good month for this blog. It surpassed 80,000 all-time views and just missed getting 20,000 views for the month (it was less than 500 views away). As I got closer to 100,000 all-time views, I decided to dig into the statistics for my blog to see my strengths and where I could improve. As I expected, Twitter was by far my biggest source of traffic for the past three months at 23,389 views from March 3, 2014 to May 3, 2014. Search engines were far behind at only 8,045 views in the same amount of time while nothing else even compared (none of the other methods of gaining traffic went over 1,000 views during this time). Pinterest was my third biggest source of traffic with 705 views during this time.

Since I had big numbers to play with, I decided to do number crunching calculations. Throughout the time frame, this blog generated 47,742 views. I added all of the traffic from different social networks and identified that this blog got 24,681 views which means for the past three months, 52% of this blog’s traffic came from social media. At this same time, only 17% of this blog’s traffic came from search engines.

This is another testimony that proves growing your presence on social networks is more important than SEO. While they are both important, some people focus most of their time on SEO without giving a thought about how social networks can result in more traffic. As my traffic numbers from social networks increased, I also noticed an increase in this blog’s search engine traffic.

In May, 20% of my blog’s traffic came from search engines. That does not mean my traffic from my social networks went down. That means the traffic I gained from search engines significantly increased. As a grew my presence on my social networks, the traffic I gained from search engines grew at a faster rate.

If you are wondering whether you should be using social networks to increase your blog traffic, the answer is that you must do so. Social media is one of the best ways to grow your presence, get more traffic, get more subscribers, and as connections become stronger, get more sales in the process. What are your thoughts on using social media to get more traffic? What are your thoughts on SEO? Please share your thoughts below.

10 Ways To Get More People To Talk To You On Twitter

June 22, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

twitter engagement

Twitter Power Users are able to get their followers to engage with their tweets. By getting their followers to engage with their tweets, these Power Users are able to get more traffic, sales, subscribers, and credibility in their niche. While increasing engagement by having more conversations with people on Twitter is important, a majority of Twitter users do not know how to have conversations with their followers. These people struggle to find people to talk to instead of becoming someone who people would want to talk to. There is a way to get people to talk to you on Twitter without searching these people out. Here are 10 ways to do that:

  1. Have a bio that gives people a reason to talk to you. Your bio is a big factor that decides whether people will want to talk to you or not. Your bio allows everyone to know who you are, what you do, and what your hobbies are.
  2. Tweet good stuff. People will comment on those tweets, and when they do that, you will be able to swoop in and respond to that tweet. The better your tweets are, the more people will respond.
  3. Ask questions. Asking questions encourages engagement because the only way to answer the question is by sending you a tweet. Then, you can go to your notifications and read all of the answers you got and respond to each one.
  4. Tweet at the moment. When you ask questions, it is important to tweet in the moment. Tweeting in the moment allows you to respond faster which allows conversations with your followers to become longer.
  5. Schedule tweets. Scheduling tweets will allow all of your followers to see your content throughout the day. Your followers need to be able to see your content whether they log on at 7 am or 7 pm. You can use HootSuite Pro to schedule numerous tweets in 6 clicks.
  6. Tweet pictures. Tweets with pictures get 10% more engagement than tweets without pictures. If you include the right picture in your tweets, you can get 10 times as many retweets for the tweet with the picture that you would have gotten from a tweet without the picture.
  7. Talk to the people who mention you. When people mention you on Twitter, you have a chance to build on the conversation. If someone shares your blog post, you  can simply reply by thanking that person for sharing your blog post. Then, a conversation develops. Having a lot of conversations will show your followers that you talk to a lot of people, and if they start a conversation with you, then those followers know that you will be very likely to continue the conversation.
  8. Establish yourself as an expert. When you establish yourself as an expert, people will ask you questions about your niche. If you are able to give people the answers they are looking for, these people will be more likely to buy your products and tell others about you.
  9. Host a giveaway every quarter. If you announce a $50 Amazon Gift Card giveaway, all of your followers will suddenly become your best friends. Although most of these people are in it for the giveaway, some of the connections you build because of the giveaway will become very strong. The larger your audience on Twitter, the more powerful the giveaway will be.
  10. Grow a targeted following. A targeted following is the most important factor that decides how many people talk to you on Twitter. If your audience has no interest in what you are tweeting about, then the work you put in does not matter to them. If your audience is a targeted audience, then all of the work you do matters to your audience.

By getting more people to talk to you on Twitter, you will have more conversations. Starting a conversation is the starting point towards a strong connection. What are your thoughts on this list? Do you have any additional tips on getting people to talk to you on Twitter? Please share your thoughts and advice below.

10 Ways To Improve Your Facebook Page

June 19, 2014 by Marc Guberti 4 Comments

Facebook Logo

The two components that decide how many likes and engagement your Facebook Page gets is the way it looks and the content you post on that Facebook Page. However, many people are not optimizing these two components well enough in order to see better results. The better you implement these two components, the more likely you are to be successful on Facebook. In order to make your Facebook Page better, follow these 10 tips.

  1. Facebook prefers that you use 180×180 pictures but then converts your picture to 160×160. That means the avatar picture you choose for Facebook needs to look good even if it is 160×160. Make sure your entire company’s logo or the picture of you shows up on the entire avatar. If part of your company’s logo or your headshot gets cut out of the picture, then you need to fix that. There’s nothing worse than having a sloppy appearance prevent you from getting more engagement on Facebook.
  2. Make sure your background picture further emphasizes what your Facebook Page is about. A picture of your company’s logo or a headshot does not necessarily tell people what your Facebook Page is about. If you put a headshot of yourself on your Facebook Page, then your background picture needs to show people what your posts are all about. If you only write Facebook posts about Facebook marketing, you can have a picture on the background related to Facebook marketing. If you write Facebook posts about motivational quotes, you can have a background picture of the sun rising with your favorite quote in the same picture. No matter what you post about on Facebook, your background picture needs to give everyone a good idea about what you post. As a side note, the ideal dimensions of your Facebook Page’s background image are 851 pixel width by 315 pixel height.
  3. Make sure your Facebook posts are only 80 characters. The longer your Facebook post is, the less likely someone is to read the entire post. If you want to get more likes and engagement on Facebook, you need to create short and sweet posts that are easy to read and have a clear message.
  4. Include pictures in your Facebook posts. Facebook posts with pictures get more engagement than the Facebook posts without pictures. Although pictures are optional for Facebook posts, you should make it a point to have at least one picture in a Facebook post.
  5. Experiment with your posts. When you first start to see more engagement and likes coming in every day, it is important to identify what kind of content your fans like the most. There are a variety of factors that decide how much engagement your Facebook posts get such as the character count, topic of choice, way you worded what you said, the color of the picture, and other factors as well. You will be able to identify which factors work for you by posting a lot of content and seeing which Facebook posts get the most attention.
  6. Have an effective short bio. People get to see your short bio directly under your picture. They don’t have to click an About Me Page on the menu like you have to do with a blog. Instead, it’s right there. Your short bio can give people an idea of who you are and what you do. Since a short bio does not take a lot of time to read, most people will read your short bio before reading any of your posts.
  7. Post videos on Facebook. Videos grab our attention differently from the way a typical post grabs our attention. Posting videos will keep someone on your Facebook Page for a longer period of time. That’s long enough for someone to like that Facebook post, leave a comment, possibly share it with their friends, and repeat the process for some of your other Facebook posts as well.
  8. Get more likes for your Facebook Page. These are a bunch of ways that you can get more likes on your Facebook Page. Getting these likes makes your Facebook Page look more popular. Whether it is actually very popular or not, potential fans will see your Facebook Page and believe that it is very popular. These people will then engage with your posts and like your page because they see that so many other people have done the same.
  9. Post every day. New visitors are more likely to like your Facebook Page if you post every day. Posting every day shows that your Facebook Page is active, and if visitors like what you have posted in the past, then they know they need to like your Page in order to get your future posts in their news feed. The average dormant Facebook Page does not get as many likes as the average active Facebook Page. Facebook also does a really good job at telling people when they have not posted on their Facebook Pages in a while. If you ever get that kind of email, you need to stop what you are doing and immediately post something on Facebook and then schedule posts for the days to come.
  10. Time your posts based on what your audience is on Facebook. In order to get the best engagement from your Facebook posts, you need to send these posts out when most of your audience is on Facebook. Facebook provides analytics that contain the number of people who visit your Facebook Page for every hour of every day of every week. That is a powerful statistic that Facebook gives you for free. If it’s free, it doesn’t hurt, and in this case, the statistics can be the difference between your Facebook post getting 25 likes or 50 likes.

By constantly improving your Facebook Page, you will continue to see better results over time. Your engagement will go up, more people will hear about you, and by implementing circular viralocity, your blog and all of your social networks will be able to go viral. Having an effective Facebook Page is just one piece of the puzzle.

3 Ways To Establish A Powerful Presence On The Web

June 2, 2014 by Marc Guberti Leave a Comment

team

We all dream of getting 100,000 visitors every month and having over 100,000 social media followers. However, it takes a long time to establish a powerful presence on the web. Some people quit when they realize it will take several months or even years to reach these standards. Most of these people quit because they do not know how to grow a powerful presence on the web. Whether you are considering quitting for this reason or never had any intention of quitting, it is important to grow your presence. Growing your presence will result in more visibility, but it will also make you feel more confident about what you are doing. These are the three ways to establish a powerful presence on the web.

  1. Focus on one niche. In the beginning, you will want to pay attention to multiple niches. However, you need to find your groove–the one niche–that you are going to establish a presence for yourself in. If you want to establish your presence in 10 different, unrelated niche, a lot of people are going to be confused. If you want to establish your presence in 1 niche, then people who learn about you (from your blog, social networks, and other methods) will immediately know what you are all about.
  2. Build a targeted following for that niche. Once you identify your main niche, you need to build a targeted following for that niche. Having big numbers is not enough. Those big numbers have to be targeted. Targeted people are the ones who are interested in your niche before you come into the picture. When you come into the picture, your new targeted followers will enjoy what you have to offer. If you want to learn how to grow a targeted following on Twitter, read this article too 🙂.
  3. Get those targeted followers to visit your blog. Once you get the targeted followers, you need to get those targeted followers to visit your blog. As you get more of your targeted followers to visit your blog, the search engines will start to kick in and get you more visitors. Some of the visitors on your blog will subscribe to your blog and buy your products. As more people subscribe and buy your products, you will get more reviews. In addition, more of those reviews will be good ones as you get more customers who are already subscribed to and reading your blog.

Those are the three ways to establish a powerful presence for yourself on the web. Remember that although Rome was not built in a day, it was built. Although your powerful presence on the web may not be established just yet, it will be established with hard work and perseverance.

How To Build A Targeted Audience On Twitter

May 23, 2014 by Marc Guberti 8 Comments

target-audience

Twitter can dramatically transform your business, but only if you have the right audience. Some people have over 100,000 targeted followers, and that is a good audience to have. On the contrary, other people have 100,000 fake followers, and that’s a bad audience to have. There are also people who have 100,000 followers that are not fake but not targeted either. In order to see Twitter have the biggest effect on your business, you need to grow a targeted following.

Although many people know that the answer is to grow a targeted following, few people know how to make it happen. Growing a targeted following is not challenging at all. In fact, it is a very easy process. It is an easy process that has allowed me to gain over 600 targeted followers every day.

The only two tools you need are ManageFlitter and Tweepi. I use ManageFlitter to unfollow people who are not following me back so my ratio does not go out of control. I use Tweepi to follow targeted followers who are likely to follow me back.

In order to get the best results from Tweepi, you need to be following someone else’s followers. In addition, the person you do this for must be someone in your niche with over 100,000 followers and is also following over 100,000 people. If you want to get an idea of how many followers you will gain from following this person’s followers, look at their statistics on TwitterCounter. If you continue following this person’s followers several months straight, you will gain a similar number of followers every day.

For a long time, I followed the followers of a highly regarded social media expert. This expert has over 200,000 followers on Twitter and follows over 150,000 people. I decided to follow that person’s followers, and the amount of followers I gained every day almost matched this person’s daily gains. If this person gained 150 followers on one day, I would gain 140-160 followers on the same day.

However, I wanted to dramatically grow my social media presence. I didn’t just want to be another social media expert with tens of thousands of followers. I wanted to be a social media expert with over 100,000 followers (based on calculations I’ll be there next month). I decided to follow someone else’s followers. I chose to follow Sean Gardner’s followers. Sean has been the #1 Social Media Power User on the Forbes Top 50 list for multiple years. He also happens to gain anywhere from 400 to 1,200 followers every day. By digging around, I learned that he uses the paid version of JustUnfollow to find targeted users and follow them.

Instead of paying and getting targeted followers the hard way, I decided to follow all of the people that Sean followed. The result has been phenomenal. Now I am gaining 600 followers every day. My goal is to keep on following his followers without taking a day off from doing this for 3 straight months. Right when I saw my daily follower growth about to pass 700, something would come up, I would not be able to use Tweepi for multiple days, and then I would have to start from scratch (back down to gaining 200 followers every day, and then it shoots up to 500 the day after).

That’s the secret to build a targeted following. This is all it takes. All you need to do now is implement it.
